    Roasted pork belly
    Giselle P.

Located inside the Mall of Asia, Lugang Cafe offers traditional Chinese fair. You can choose from a small selection of dim sum to shareable plates. We had ordered the Xiao Long Bao, pan fried siao pao, roasted pork belly, seafood soup, and golden fried rice. The xiao long bao and the soup was just what was needed as two in the party had bad colds. The roasted pork belly was so tender and juicy, but was a tough to bite into. A knife is recommended. The staff was very attentive and my family told them it was my birthday. After the food was brought out, the staff came to sing happy birthday in Cantonese and Tagalog. The ambiance has a five star feel, but dress is casual.

    Great ambiance

Food is great flavors you may taste the freshness of their food staff are very accommodating Especially Ms. Yen

    XLB... better than Ding

Their XLB certainly beats Din but I wasn't that impressed with everything else. Service is bad and my ice tea didn't come very late. The fried shrimp ball is definitely a regret, sadly wonder why they consider a starred attraction. Must be a local Filipino favored item.

I've passed by this restaurant several times before and I thought it was a filipino cuisine restaurant. Then my brother said it's a good Taiwanese restaurant! First impression, the hostess was really friendly and accommodating. Restaurant is clean and well staffed (as in a lot of servers) The servers assigned to me were James and Jayson! They were friendly, helpful with the menu and so attentive! Great job!!! I ordered a Xian Long Bao, a beef dish, 2 pork dishes and 2 cups of rice. All of the dishes were excellent! It's almost comparable to that other Chinese restaurant inside the Maison in Conrad Hotel, except this one is more "casual" and less pretentious (especially the staff) but I actually like Lugang Cafe a lot more! Would I return here? I most absolutely would!

    Time to eat!!!

Everything we had was amazing, from dimsum, fish, vegetables, and shrimp. The salted egg bitter melon was interestingly good. The food takes a while to come out which is typical in the Philippines, but it's worth it.

Ordered Sio Mai and soup dumplings. It was okay. Pork has an after taste.

After two hours of brisk walking around the mall to do errands, I was itching for some quiet, to be seated in a nice chair, and rest my tired feet. Of course, there's the concern of my grumbling tummy. Finding Lugang, I entered and chose to be seated at the mezzanine dining area where there are even less people. I ordered their pork xiao long bao, something I really like comparing amongst restaurants. Then I ordered a serving of their noodles with peanut sauce as my main. I know I'm sounding like a pig, but I swear I didn't finish all of it. When the xiao long bao was served, I found it to be a bit small compared to the one I usually have at another restaurant. But when I took a piece, it was indeed small, but it packed a punch. It was very tasty even without much of the dipping sauce. The noodle dish was served shortly after and I indulged myself in the slightly spicy light peanut sauce. I liked that the noodles were soft, making it easy to chew and allowing me to enjoy each spoonful without too much effort. I didn't just solve my tummy concern, I was also able to rest and enjoy the tasteful interiors and nice ambience. I was able to take home half of each order, too.

They don't serve the food at the same time.. Our beef tenderloin was served real late. Our mint juice was not served at all.

IF YOU REMEMBER ANYTHING FROM THIS REVIEW, IT IS THAT YOU MUST EAT THIS STEAMED BUN WITH EGG YOLK PASTE! Remember to let it cool a bit first, I almost burned my tongue! :D We also had the Xiao Long Bao (P228) and the Shrimp & Pork Siumai (P298), which were also quite good, but the Steamed Bun with Egg Yolk Paste is the one I am recommending to everyone I know!

When Modern Shanghai opened, I got attracted to it mostly because it was new and because of the very nice interiors. Giving-in to curiousity, my Dad and I gave their Mall of Asia branch a try. We ordered the Schezuan Noodles with Spicy Peanut sauce, which we found wasn't as spicy as the other ones we've tried. This may actually be a good thing since it can suit those who can't stand spicy food, and the ones like us who like it spicy can just add chili. We also sampled their Xiao Long Bao which was good and juicy, with a mild after taste. What I absolutely love is that they have blooming tea! They serve the cup with the dried bloom and leaves, then pour hot water into the cup for you to watch. It's interesting and wonderful to watch! Something one must witness at least once.

My companion Kim was simply swept off her feet by this display of simple luxury. I ordered way too much items because I was so excited to be in this magnificent dining room. I ordered 2 Foie Gras dishes and a truffle stuffed chicken dish, a fish maw soup, a walnut chicken dish, an abalone shiumai. I haven't seen it elsewhere) and it is right in front of Duty Free Shopping Mall in Parañaque. It is as you would expect any Chinese restaurant that's been there for quite a while: a little run down, smelling of bleach, the toilet (which is right next to the counter/kitchen, hmm) smells strongly of urinal cake... But somehow, families find themselves flocking to Luk Foo every time there's a big occasion... Or rather, anytime they want to eat Chinese food that's not just dumplings. Luk Foo has some of the best and affordae Chinese cuisine I've ever had. They're particularly known for the fresh sea food they have swimming in the tanks outside the restaurant. Our family always orders the steamed grouper (Lapu-Lapu), prawn with garlic sotanghon and salt and pepper crab. You won't regret ordering a full seafood menu, they're all fresh from the tanks! And if you're at a loss with what to order, you can always ask the waitresses or the manager, because they give pretty damn good recommendations. This is a good place to celebrate any occasion-- just as long as you're not bothered with how gritty it is.

The food itself has a nice variety from offering dimsum to Peking duck and braised pork. Although the food was enjoyable, we noticed there was a cockroach crawling on our table in the middle of the meal. If it didn't have that, I would've rated this 5 stars. Maybe would recommend this on a less busy day when the staff has more time to clean up? P.S. the food really is good, which is why it's not a 1 star from the cockroach. If this was the US, it would be one of those restaurants with a low food safety grade/score but still open because the food is just that good.

I was given the menu, the server showed me where to find the "solo items". I ordered the brisket and the roast pork. Service is slow here. Well almost everywhere. I don't understand that though????? There's so many staff even in the kitchen but it's just so slow! First I got my brisket. Being my first time there I was wondering where the rice was. So I asked the server who brought my brisket and I asked him really nice too! But he looked at me like I'm stupid and said something I really didn't comprehend because I was just surprised at his attitude. Then before he could leave I asked for some napkins and it's like he took a deep breath bec the napkin holder was on my table, but was behind the table card advertising! Gosh I'm sorry I didn't see it! I just felt so uncomfortable after that, almost wanted to leave but I was so hungry I stayed. Which was an unfortunate decision because I just felt again uncomfortable when he was around, pushing chairs next to my table like he was mad or something. Well anyway, got my brisket and it seems like eternity before I even got my roast pork! As in! At least 15 minute passed already. I wonder why it took sooooooo long?????? It wasn't that crowded. I could see the kitchen staff looking out, watching the band or whatever commotion is happening outside. Well the brisket just had a weird taste and the roast pork, I wish the skin was more crispy. The rice was cold already, it was probably sitting there for a long time. I called the manager to hand him my comment card and tell him my dining experience. That one server who brought out my brisket just left a very bad taste in my mouth! Would I recommend this restaurant...... absolutely NOT!
