One half has one of the most famous biergartens in the city. The other half hosts some sort of street food fair every weekend with a large changing array of food carts. We went for the African Food Festival. You only get BRLO beer if you go to the biergarten side. On the food fair side, you get a fixed drink vendor who sells a small selection of soft drinks and bottled beers. (But hey, don't knock German bottled beer.) * * * The location is 1/3 nice 2/3 not so nice. The biergarten is right near an enormous urban park. It is a more of a flat sports space than a dramatic forest, garden or lakeside. Berlin has lots of parks with the last three. But hey, flat parks are nice too. Over the whole lot runs one of the largest subways in the system. Nearby are all sorts of highways. So this is not the most sylvan tranquil location you can find for drinking beer outside. Either you really like BRLO beer, or you like the food carts at your particular food festival. * * * When we were there, the African Food Festival was not the greatest. The SHOPPING was fantastic.
