I had an epidural cortisone shot back then with the spine institute, and it worked so well, but I had major billing issues and ended up having to pay a lot of money out of pocket. Dr. Gay's office was diligent in insuring that my insurance would cover both my office visit and my shot with them so I never had to worry about the financial side. I was nervous about my cortisone shot with a new doctor because Dr. Gay did not have it at a surgery center the way the spine institute did, however, I could not be happier with the process. Not only was it quick and easy, it was not really painful, and once I saw the room and the assistant, I felt completely comfortable with the process and with Dr. Gay. Within 24 hours I experienced substantial pain relief, and after going through 4 weeks of dibilitating pain, I almost cried with relief when I woke up the next morning and could get out of bed without assistance. Dr. Gay did set proper expectations that physical rehabilitation would be necessary to maintain the pain relief and fully recover, and immediately sent a referral to a place that was in network who I received a call from the very next day. I am so happy that I went in to see Dr. Gay, and I will continue to use him as my pain relief provider in the future (hopefully for not much longer). The only negative thing I can say is that he is very busy and it can take a while to get in to see him, which when you are in so much pain can feel like forever.

Dr. Kallman was able to fix my sinus problems from which I suffered for over 12 years! Best of all, my surgery was a smashing success with very minimal discomfort. Not like in the old days where you left the hospital with your nose all packed and in pain. Relatively painless with a very quick recovery. What more could I ask for? I highly recommend his services. Since my personal experience with Dr. Kallman, I have recommended his services to my friends and family. All have been completely satisfied. I have also brought my children to him for ENT services. Three years ago Dr Kallman removed my 13 year olds adenoids at our local surgery center. We went camping later thar same day. He's that good....

The June follow up which required the insertion of a tube which was inserted in my femoral artery. That's when everything went "south" on me. The doctor used fentanyl which was not what we had agreed to during the pre-surgical meeting prior to the surgery. This was all done at Alaska Regional Hospital. I informed Dr Tolbert that fentanyl passes right through my system, providing absolutely no pane relief. As a result, I felt the incision, being alert and aware of the entire procedure. He decided having an anesthesiologist attend the surgery was unnecessary. Since I was literally buckled down on the table, all I could do was to scream out in severe pain. Closing the wound required two nurses pushing down on the inside of my groin, with all their upper body weight to prevent me from bleeding out. Because of the "blown" closure, I had to lay absolutely flat on my back for 6+ hours after the procedure was done. The hospital report said that everything turned out normal, no mention of the loud screaming or my struggles, at all. I informed the hospital of my experience. Dr Tolbert further refused to acknowledge any part of what had happened. I was pissed and decided to contact a couple law firms that specialized in medical malpractice only to find out he had them collectively on retainers so they could not represent me. Eventually I gave up trying to resolve my complaint through the courts. Later I discovered I was not the only patient who found Dr Tolberts actions to be both excruciatingly painful but dangerous due to the high degree of pain I experienced. He had a "C-" on these report pages from previous patients. He further refused to fill out the paperwork from my insurance company which would have allowed me to return to work, to this day. This has resulted in extreme financial hardship for my family. Dr Tolbert was referred to me by my pain specialist so I didn't do my homework to check his performance record. Shame on me! I hope these comments will help others avoid the awful experience I had to endure. If I had the required funds, I would like to make him pay for what he did. Beware, John C Hughes

I was unsure if I had slipped, fallen or any of the above because I had a newborn baby, a 1 1/2 year old along with 7 children.  I did not notice the pain until a couple month after my daughter was born.  The pain overtime started increasing and shot down my legs and into my feet.  My feet felt number at times and pain.  The pain was so bad that I would drive a short distance and would almost fall out of the car.  I have seen doctors, primary care doctors who did not understand how this could have occurred and basically made me feel like I was lying.  I was referred and went through physical therapy which still did not help.  I also on my own without a referral went to a chiropractor.  The chiropractor did explain that pregnancies after a while can cause issues that I was experiencing with back and buttocks.  With the doctors, I also had to demand an x-ray: no results and MRI: which had some results but the doctor minimized my pain.  I was prescribed ibuprofen which did not help but doctors were unsure of my psych medications and pain medications. During this time, I had asked to work with my psych doctor or send me to a pain management clinic because I was to the point of crawling up the stairs and in tears.  I barely could work at my sit down job.  I had to purchase an ergonomic desktop for my desk.    I could barely sleep.   The pain did not subside and I was miserable.  I felt increased anxiety, increased depression and barely could interact at my job, at home or with my husband.  After a year, yes I said a whole year, the doctor said I am sorry I should have done this earlier and he ended up referring me to a pain management clinic i.e.  Algone Pain Clinic. The doctor also said my condition was out of the box.   I instantly was observed by Dr. Nichelle C. Renk who immediately believed me and took action.  She mixed a pain management remedy that included natural medications along with pain medications.  She realized I was hyperflexive which is part of pain causes such as mine.  She gave me support groups with people with similar pain issues.  She also gave me a steroid shot which instantly made my pain in my legs and feet.  She listened and actually spent time with me.  She was not like normal doctors where you feel rushed out of the office like an assembly line.  She sat there and made sure I understood everything and explained procedures in great depth.  She also explained the support groups, the natural medications and so on.  Her quick reaction and believing in me and my pain--she was able to burn my nerves on both sides and relieve my pain instantly.   She is a wonderful doctor who is passionate and cares about her patients.  I would recommend her to anyone.  I hope you take a chance to meet her and see how your pain is relieved.  Thank you Dr. Nichelle for making my daily life and activities better.   Christel Brito

Dr. Nordstrom and his staff were very nice. The office is beautiful. My experience here was similar to experiences that I have had at other oral surgeons. They expected some payment upfront, gave me an estimate- all standard stuff. It wasnt cheap, but in my experience oral surgery never is. The surgery went as expected, I was reasonably comfortable, but not without some discomfort, but I chose to be awake because sedation would have been much more expensive, so again, this was to be expected. When the doctor sensed I had reached my pain threshold he paused and added additional pain medication which in appreciated. In the past I've had some doctors not do that. The reason for 4 stars and not 5? 2 reasons. One the main gal in the lobby was somewhat off-putting. She talked a mile a minute and it was very hard to follow her directions. 2nd, they didnt ask me or offer any kind of payment plan, so I dont know if that was any option. My bill was enormous. If i hadn't had an FSA, I would have been screwed.
