This place felt very French and maybe why I had trouble with it. I ordered a savory crepe with a regional sausage that I soon found out was intestine. There was a smell and a taste I couldn't get rid of. Not my favorite dish at all. If you don't like pig intestines, avoid the Andouille. I assumed it was a spicy sausage. Service was quick. Walking into the cozy little cafe it almost seems like you are stepping back into time or a movie set. It has that Parisian feel immediately. The staff is super friendly and service is insanely quick! The crepes come off the grill and straight to the table on what feels like minutes. The buckwheat crepes (IMHO) are the most authentic and delicious. I ordered the very classic jambon, emmenthaler cheese and egg crepe. The ham and cheese were just right and the egg - well it was cooked to perfection. Just perfect for cracking the top and dipping the crepe into that golden egg yolk goodness! Menu had a bit of humor (English menus are available) and offered plenty of both vegan and vegetarian options. A big plus for me was that many had organic (bio certified) ingredients. read more

Canned mushrooms in a 9.5E crèpe? Are you out of your freaking mind, Lulu from Nantes? I mean do you really think that people are going to come back here after realizing that they're paying top prices for crepes with sub-standard ingredients? I'm sick of new restaurants with cute names and quaint decor in trendy locales that serve up nonsense. They're just taking up great real estate. To put the nail further in the crèpe coffin, my almost 10E crepe was also super bland and mysteriously oily on the inside, as if the canned mushrooms were cooked in a vat of vegetable oil. Lulu La Nantaise, I love you. Quite possibly forever. I need to preface this feeling first. I'm not your typical traveler, so if you're offended easily STOP reading now. There are some people who travel outside of the US particularly and expect slightly "Frenchi-fied" versions of what they would eat in the US. What were y'all expecting? The land of the IHOP? If that's what your expectations are, pick up a book, watch the Travel Channel if reading is not your jam, and LEARN some history and respect for authentic food. With that out of my chest, moving on to the review. When we arrived in Europe we did our best to avoid the touristy places, I so desperately wanted to experience the local life. We were so fortunate enough to have an Air BnB by the Canal St Martin in the 10th Arrondisement. And so extremely fortunate for us, it was a local hub. If Tourists were to be found, it's because they got off on the wrong stop to Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, or Tour de Eiffel. Yes, we had a view of all three from our window. Walking through the busy streets of one of the most diverse neighborhoods I've seen so far in Europe, Lulu kept catching my eye. I wasn't sure at first, since, well, truthfully it was intimidating. I quickly learned that the French will immediately assume you speak French, especially in local parts, and my high school french was BARELY holding up. One night, we decided that the aroma and visuals of people eating delightful crepes was enough to help me overcome my fear. We entered and I learned that in France, there's no "waiting" per se, but rather you pick an empty spot and a waiter will attend. So we picked a spot outside and perused the menu with hungry eyes. Et voila, tout la menu was in French. No worries, Google Translate and roaming charges to the rescue. I eventually settled on a classic, only because I didn't have the energy to google translate every item on the menu. But I'm so glad I did settle on this classic. Beurre Sucre or Butter and Sugar. I ordered. A thin crepe the size of my plate arrived. The outer edges were folded in so it looked like a flat square. Wafting straight to my nose was the unmistakable smell of melted warm butter and the hint of sugar. That was one of the most heavenly bites I've ever had in my life. The closest I've come to this combination is the sugar and lemon, and while in itself is delicious, could not hold a candle to this other simple pair. Thin crepes were wonderfully brown, not crispy, and was the perfect canvas for the melted butter and sprinkling of sugar. When you bit into it, it opened your eyes why Europeans have a preference for simple flavors. Why? Because when executed perfectly it is heaven on earth. Was desperately seeking crepes in Paris and came across this cute restaurant with 2 open outdoor tables and an extensive menu full of options! I decided to keep it simple and go with the lime and sugar crepes. My first choice was mascarpone and strawberry, but it wasn't the season. Will have to come back for them next time in the summer! The crepe itself was the perfect blend of tart and sweet, the texture was perfect, and it was served warm in barely any time at all. Great experience with one of Paris's most famous foods! read more

Lulu is very cute, I'll give them that. The decor is cozy and the servers were kind (albeit completely overwhelmed). The food was subpar. Just looking at the menu, one should be wary. What's the phrase, 'better to do a few things well than a lot of things poorly'? At Lulu's there's too much going on-- there's no need for twenty five crêpes on one menu! But when you're starving and there's a free table on a sunny sunday, sometimes you gotta take the risk. That said, I ordered a galette with salmon, chive, crème fraîche and lemon. The ingredient "lemon" actually means a paper thin slice of lemon often used to garnish a glass and there for too difficult to squeeze the little amount of juice in it on to your food. After asking for more and being served two more paper thin slices, one of which was the end of the lemon and thus had no juice, I went ahead and dove in to my crêpe. And just like that it was over and I was still starving. I ordered my dessert crêpe as my boyfriend ordered his second galette. I had a momentary panic attack thinking about what our bill was going to look like with each crêpe hovering around 9€. Nonetheless, I ordered a sucre-citron crêpe for dessert and I don't know why I didn't learn my lesson the first time but this one also came with a see-through baby slice of lemon. Too hungry to care about flavor any more I finished my crêpe in roughly 4 bites, and we promptly got up to pay the bill. Given it was a busy Sunday, we were very patient with our server but this place was completely understaffed. They were running around like insane people and the cuisine isn't that complicated. It's actually a very unique thing to find a hip, charming creperie in Paris. One with a phenomenal location and a really wonderful atmosphere. Most are either tourist traps selling street quality crepes or dark old school bastions that are unpleasantly formal. I was hesitant to try this place because other reviews suggest it's more style over substance. But the food did not disappoint. We did stick with the basic crepes but found them to be as well done as anywhere else in the Francophone world. No hesitation to recommend this spot if you want to enjoy traditional food as opposed to the many Anglo-American cafes popping up around the Canal St Martin. read more

I'm just not sure what to think of this place. It is a very quirky and cute place near the canal St. Martin but the food and service are suspect. My lunch was a galette of lardon, potato with an added egg. The think with their galettes is that it is very thin and cooked very crispy, much more than any I have had before. Now, it may be that they are cooking them in a particular style and I'm not saying it was bad, just different. I then ordered a simple crepe of butter and sugar for my sweet tooth. In contrast to their galette, the crepe had a chewiness to it that I, once again, have never experienced before and again, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it but it was different. Now, the service. Everything was fine until I asked for the check. Once I requested my bill our server became nonexistent. Finally, after 15 minutes and numerous attempts at getting her attention once again, we received our check...which included the side salad The Wife ordered but never arrived. These crepes were quite tasty. I got the caramel crepe however, I wish I could have combined caramel and Nutella and it would have been heaven on earth! The plain Nutella crepe seemed to be overpowered by Nutella, but still delicious! A friend of mine got the lime crepe which I thought would be quite strange, but the flavor wasn't too overpowering was actually quite light and delicious. This little creperie is situated at a very busy intersection by the Quai Jemappes but is surrounded by cute little restaurants and shops. The crêpes are excellent. I recommend the crêpe butter sugar lemon or the apple flambé with vanilla ice cream. read more

So it's Sunday and I don't have reservations for the place next door, but I'm hungry...why not give this place a try? The waiter was nice and I don't speak any french, so that was a plus. There are only a few things I recognized on the menu: andouille and champignon, so that's what I got in my crepe with an egg on top. Overall it was decent. I didn't care for the andouille and the crepe needed salt and pepper, but the edges of my crepe were crunchy and the egg made everything better. read more

Adorable atmosphere and great staff! My husband and I had a 22hr layover to experience Paris, and we found this cute restaurant while wandering the neighborhood of our hotel. We asked the waitress her favorite, and ordered it. It was a crepe with goat cheese, bacon, onions, and mushrooms and was AMAZING!
