Homemade cider is amazing!!! Must get. It has a nice smokey apple-y fruity taste. I got the goat cheese honey crepe and it was delightfully crispy on the edges and stuffed with cheese. The savory crepe with a hint of sweetness is the perfect light before or after dinner snack. The chocolate hazelnut crepe was delicious as well! The stuffing for this one was all on the outside of the crepe versus inside. The portions here are decently sized but I feel like I could've eaten one more and been okay for a full dinner meal. I love places that have the ability to transport you to another locale by perfectly marrying the food with the décor. With its wooden, trunk-like booths, narrow passageways, bouyes, ropes and navigation charts, despite it being a rainy, Saturday night in Paris' Bastille, we felt adrift along the choppy waters of Bretagne as we tucked into our delicious, buttery crepes at this small family creperie. My complète with a supplement of sauteed mushrooms was fantastic and the small side salad that I ordered to go with it quite generous in size for Paris standards. At 13E for both crepe and salad, it was a pretty sweet dinner price. My son devoured his banana crepe so fast we had to get a second one. And his apple juice was among the best I've ever tasted. Only critique is that this place is cash only. Come on guys. Get with it. I understand when food stands are cash only but you're doing a big disservice to your customers (and yourself) when you restrict their payment methods. The UC Accent Paris center recommended that we try this crepe place nearby. It was only a short walk away so we decided to try it. I ordered the goat cheese, egg and bacon crepe and I was very happy with my choice!! The goat cheese was so creamy and complemented the bacon well there was egg yolk in the middle that was a rich way to add to the flavor of the bacon and goat cheese. I love the rustic decor here and the fact that you can see your food being made right in front of you in a sit-down restaurant rather than a stand. I tried a savory crepe with gruyere, mushroom, and onion and a sweet crepe with dark chocolate and fresh banana and washed them down with some sweet cider. The savory crepe itself had a perfect consistency, but in terms of topping choices, I think I prefer the stateside Crepes on Columbus. A hole in the wall that doesn't command you to enter, but we were on a quest for crepe or waffle, wandering the Charonne street in a daze after a day of touristing. We were glad we did. Atmosphere: Cute, retro, artsy. We sat at a small table with wooden benches. Like most things in Paris, it was small but everything was fashionably cute. The decor was a jumble of different things, from postcards on the wall to odd table lighting fixtures, but overall the impression is welcoming and homey, if your home is an eclectic art cave. The Food: We ordered a sweet and a savoury crepe. One came with delicious melted Belgian chocolate and bananas and the other with cheese, pecans and ham. The crepes were thin and slightly crunchy. Like almost all breads I ate in Paris, the texture was both crunchy and soft and flavourful. Very different from the more rubbery though still delicious crepes I had in Montreal a week earlier. The cheese was brie-ish and not too salty. I could have used some onions in the savoury crepe, or something else more vegetable to give it additional texture besides cheese, but it was not too rich for my taste. The beer selection was limited to a few light beers (like I found in general in Paris) but the red ale I ordered wasn't half bad. The Service: Our hostess put up with our cobbling together of French and English and was very helpful and cheerful. Nothing to complain about here. Location: A fifteen minute walk from Charonne metro station and in an apparently up and coming hip district just off the Bastille. The area isn't bursting with people like Montmartre but provides nice havens for people to walk into a brasserie of choice and enjoy some great Parisian cuisine. Overall, if I lived in the area, I would go back and hang out there to chill and eat crepes. As a tourist, it was nice to slide into a spot that seemed genuine. We enjoyed good food and I'd definitely recommend it as a nice evening spot for a tasty low-key meal. read more

Both the cider and crepes were amazing!!! We got both the sweet and savory crepes and were both phenomenal. I had the Goat cheese bacon and honey crepe which was alot of fun!!! And had a crepe Suzette which was fun. My girlfriend had a bacon onion and cheese crepe and the chocolate crepe. The savory crepes are on Buckwheat and there are a few sweet crepes on buckwheat which means they are gluten free which is cool. They have an English menu if you need it and will help you avoid some issues earlier reviewers had with what i believe was the pork tripe thats on the menu!!! As the name of the creperie suggests, these are Breton crepes made from buckwheat so they taste a bit different than your standard street crepe in Paris. They have an affordable set menu if you want to try both a savory and sweet crepe. Food: -Ham & cheese crepe: Love the sunny side up egg in the middle! The egg gets nice and runny, which makes the perfect sauce once it mixes with the warm cheese and ham--delish! -Goat cheese & honey crepe: Mmm...I wish I could have this crepe right now! If you're a goat cheese lover, you should order this. They don't skimp on the goat cheese either, and it has the perfect amount of honey drizzled on top. -Sugar & butter crepe: I've had better sugar and butter crepes since this one was drowning in too much butter. I also like sugar and butter crepes with lemon to cut through the greasy butter. Service: -Even though there was just one waiter, he managed to be friendly and upbeat. What can I say about this place in few words? Superb atmosphere - decorations are simple and because, I liked especially sink - very cute Stuff is very friendly and speaks English perfectly. We did not new some ingredient (kind of French sausage) so degustation for free was delivered immediately. Crepes are very nice and menu has are wide choice of sweet and savory choices. The place itself is extremely small - I think I counted only 6 tables. Our advice would be to give a call in advance and make a reservation I advance if you want to be sure. Because first evening we did not had a chance to have a place and luckily decided to make a reservation for another evening because it was full again. Crepes are very reasonably priced, which meant this was one of the few meals that we were able to have in Paris with a main and a dessert and drinks that came to about 12 euros a head. Rue de Charonne is a good street for walking -- well, actually it's a terrible street for actual walking, since somebody has always encumbered one of the narrow trottoirs, like in front of that curiously popular Hanoi place -- but it is a good street for getting from place to place, like from Voltaire to Bastille, or the Marais. Great way to end my trip! Valerie was a gracious and friendly host and suggested a special savory buckwheat crepe (salmon and leeks cooked in wine) prepared in her aunt's tradition. if you are claustrophobic, warning...you might have an anxiety attack as this restaurant is ultra miniscule and tight...but then again, bienvenue a paris! this very atmospheric and rustic dive is certainly very authentic and if tasty no nonsense crepes are what you seek, it is worth a trek to the bastille area. it seems like it's a two man show ...with a monsiuer crepe maker a madame server ...therefore service is slow. all crepes are hand made to order so perhaps it's worth the wait. go for a savory crepe then to finish off with a sweet one and never forget to order a bouchon of cider. read more
