Kristen is an acupuncturist practicing Classical acupuncture that makes use of all 68 acupuncture channels. For some years, I learned that most acupuncture practiced in the US was a poor replica of the original acupuncture practiced in villages in China prior to the Cultural revolution. I made an effort to search out acupuncture similar to the original. As a result, I researched the practice of acupuncture from Taiwan, from Korea, and from Japan. However, I was disappointed with the results I got from acupuncturists I worked with using Japanese methods. Eventually, I found Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, that, I found helpful, especially from an emotional-spiritual perspective, but I found it lacking with respect to physical health. A few months ago, I read some blogs by Ann Cecil-Sterman, a New York based acupuncturist who practices Classical acupuncture. I was amazed by some of the stories of physical healing. I found out that Kristen Lum practices in a similar fashion, and is based here in Southern California. My first session with her was eye-opening. I had been to my Five-Element acupuncturist the day before, but when Kristen felt my pulses, she told me "You have a block! It is physical, and I have to deal with this before I can use any of the Complement channels". She then proceeded to physically examine my whole body, something I had not experienced with earlier acupuncturists. On my legs, she saw the rash that was the reason for the block. She then treated the rash as she would treat any scar. Acupuncturists can treat scars! I am always learning new things! She found a "barrier to cure" that my other very experienced acupuncturist had missed, not just the day before, it was a barrier that had been there for years. I want to thank Kristen for helping me identify and heal my gut issues. Taking cues from my symptoms, she recommended a gut microbiome test. I don't think either of us were expecting the results I received, as I'm generally a healthy person and follow a relatively strict anti-inflammatory diet, but let's just say it wasn't ideal. Kristen very thoroughly went through the results and we discussed changes that I could make in lifestyle and diet to address specific bacteria I was entirely missing. She put me on a very high-quality supplemental probiotic protocol which was easy to follow.
