Very friendly church! And, it's modern! It's larger church with multiple rooms. I came here as a visitor in Hawaii during Christmas time! They have live music, 3 screens displaying the primary speaker, and relates the Bible to modern events. They also incorporate "movie like" scenes at the beginning to highlight the main topics that will be covered. For example, for their Christmas sermon, they had videos of children saying what they want for Christmas, and showing the array of holiday foods. In this scene, the children share what they want to give Jesus since it is his birthday. It's quite a welcoming and interesting church! Definitely captures people's attention. There's plenty of street parking and a small parking lot dedicated toward the church.

I love coming here. The worship service is amazing, the messages are great and not so complex, and the people here are usually always friendly.

Great church. Great staff. Amazing music and people. Services are helpful and warm especially for those who may be new to the faith or questioning. I recommend this church.

I first came to New Hope in May of 2010 when it was still at Farrington High, then to Sand Island where my wife was baptized by Wayne and Elwin both at the same time at Magic Island in the Summer of 2011. I was already a baptized Christian since 1991, but I joined her anyway! we've looked at other churches but haven't found a good fit. so we'll be going back to Sand Island to New Hope and fellowship there. I'm a non-denominational Christian so I'm glad no one forces their "doctrines" on us there...too much diversity in some Churches that way, always contesting each others doctrines and values of their Church...I want a Bible based Church that is all about Christ Jesus, and nothing else...! and New Hope will be our Church from now on until Jesus takes us home...peace and love.

If you're looking for a warm welcome, excellent music and a tangible, uplifting message, New Hope is it! My two visits were highlights of my trip to Honolulu. I feel loved & recharged for the week ahead. Thank you, New Hope!

Easter service was incredible! 4 services totaling ~23,000 ppl. and yet, they still manage to give everything a personal feel. The service is done with extreme professionalism, yet at the heart of it all the love for God is there. 23,000 ppl. can't be wrong about this church. I agree with Pastor Wayne that it isn't the building or the stuff that make up the church, but the people that attend it.

I asked her if ahe wanted to attend this concert at St. Andrew's Cathedral and she agreed... especially because a String Quartet was playing! I got our tickets online and received email reminders and the tickets via QRcode. Parking after 6pm was free in metered street stalls nearby. Parking at St. Andrew's Cathedral had a fee. The unfortunate thing about this venue was that it has no air-conditioning. Each pew had some lauhala hand-held manual fans, but they were to be shared. I felt a very slight breeze from the cross ventilation of the open windows. The good thing about this historical venue was the acoustics. It also had beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, graceful arches, etc. The quartet played twelve songs: Bad Human Nature Rock With You Billie Jean Say Say Say We Are The World Smooth Criminal Heal The World Remember The Time Earth Song Thriller Beat It It was wonderful to hear familiar songs in a different way! The four gals shared humorous anecdotes about the songs; sometimes snapping their fingers; sometimes tapping on their instruments (becausethere were no percussion instruments); and sometimes singing out a phrase like, "Who's Bad!" The concert was very organized. The ushers and ticket scanners seem like they've all done their jobs before. I asked about the restroom... it's in the next building and down the hall. We went early to get the best seats in our Zone C. Some of the people who arrived after us had to sit behind pillars. The doors closed promptly on time. No late entrances. Thanks to the String Quartet for playing this Tribute to Michael Jackson for the first time in Hawaii! It was fabulous!

Members of The Kai'ulani Choir sang beautiful hymns throughout the service, and a loving Hula was performed to start off the evening's program. What a spiritual experience it was sitting in this church, looking around at the Altar and the stained glass windows, feeling the cool evening breeze flow through the sanctuary. Although I'm not a religious person, I would consider coming back for a Sunday Mass.

I've valued those words through the years as I've moved around and sought a church to plug into. What I can say about New Hope Manoa is that I've met a lot of great people who genuinely try to love others, and I find the teaching to be biblically based. I love the kupuna (elders) who try their best to model faithfulness and kindness. The worship is not flashy, but heartfelt. I especially appreciate when the youth lead worship or when a single aunty is on stage with a guitar because she wants to help people connect with Jesus. Pastor Rod helps the church not just understand scripture, but try to live it out. He has a heart of a shepherd, whether visiting someone who is sick or texting someone who hasn't been around in a while to check in. I love the "Show God, Share Aloha" ministry that helps people with food, utilities, health needs, etc. Every church has its problems like my mentor said 20 years ago, but the goal is to try to be more like Jesus in humility and love. And I see that in many people at New Hope Manoa. Services are Sundays at 9:30am at the auditorium at Mid-Pac in Manoa. Lots of parking available! Dress up or wear a tank top and board shorts. Either way, people will try to welcome you well.
