The food was decent, not bad. However, when I checked out, an extra tip was added to the bill. The total was $75, and they charged me $7.50 in tips--I didn't understand what percentage that was. It felt like it was manually added. In the U.S., I usually write the tip amount myself; only Michelin restaurants charge a fixed percentage, and they always state it upfront. We have eaten at this restaurant twice during our visit to Roma. On both occasions the food, as well as the service, has been excellent. The wine list is excellent too. After walking through the Vatican Museum, you build up an appetite. I try and stay away from places right in front of main attractions because they tend to be over priced and lack solid service. We walked farther down towards the metro stop and decided on LIma Bistro. It was around 3ish, the place was pretty quite, there was only one person working the front of house taking orders. There is seating available on the outside and inside. They had a good menu selection with a variety of dishes. Though the wine menu only said bottles of wine we were able to order a house wine by the glass. We also got an aperol and lemon spritz. The lemon spritz was delicious with a great amount of lemoncello. We order the meat and cheese start for four people. Delicious cheeses with pepper and pistachio, little ham and cheese sandwiches and cuts of meat and some bread with pesto, garlic spread and a creamy tapenade. We order the gnocchi, amatriciana and seafood risotto. Great size portions, the pasta was fresh and the sauces were nice and light. I would go back again and try other dishes. We were too full for dessert but they did have small selection. read more

Great food, place was a hidden gem right outside Vatican City. Was not too packed and there were other restaurants in close proximity. I ordered cacio e pepe, delicious and had a thick sauce. The people working there were from Morocco and Bangladesh, very polite and nice people. read more

Saw the high ratings for this place and decided to give it a try. The hostess was very nice at first and let us choose our table. Then we waited nearly 15 minutes for her to come check on us. We only waited because we understood that they were busy and probably understaffed due to the holiday. She came right before the time we decided we were going to leave. Anyways, the food and drinks were mediocre and I would not go back. Also, it was super hot and almost uncomfortable inside. Outside wasn't much better. Love this place! The atmosphere, ambience, and food is awesome. My gf and stayed up the street for a couple nights and decided to give this a try for dinner after visits to the coliseum and Trevi fountain. Very attentive server. Awesome food choices. Our favorite was the beef burger patty. Not sure if it's always this good, but the meat literally melts in your mouth. Best burger I've had in my life. And eating it like a steak is the only way I would've eaten it. The sautéed onions on the side were delicious as well. We left the area the next day but once we returned to leave from FCO airport we highly considered taking a taxi all the way back in order to eat the burger once more. That piece of meat is one of the best things I've eaten in my life. We also had ravioli and spaghetti of some kind. Both very delicious. This was a nice quiet late lunch with great pasta and a good wine selection. House wine is available by the glass although only bottles are on the menu. A few tourists and a few locals were there, but's it's small and quiet with some outdoor seating also. Many pastas to pick from and decent portions! A little pricey for pasta (€10-12) but worth it. Service was a little slow but they were transitioning from their lunch service to dinner so we were fine. read more

We stumbled on this place accidentally, trying to get away from the tourist mobs visiting the Vatican. It was serene inside, with nice piano jazz playing at just the right volume, very clean and cool. Loved the cookbooks on the shelves. We had a nice long leisurely lunch, which was a tagliere, a great plate of sliced salami, sorpressata, prosciutto, cheese, bread etc. followed by a beautiful fresh insalata misto. We stumbled in for a cappuccino after a visit to the Vatican and were pleasantly surprised to find a cute, laid back cafe with delicious food and wine. We did our our cappuccinos but also ended up having the house red wine, both veggie and carne meatballs, and the salami and cheese platter. My favorite eatery in Rome. It feels more like a home than a restaurant. Luma gives you the most relaxing dining experience in the city. A small corner bistro, you're seated in a cozy dining room or on the sidewalk. The owner is especially nice, and will talk you through the menu with expertise. The menu changes every day, bringing whatever the kitchen has on hand on that occasion. They make pasta in house with some wonderful traditional roman recipes. The cacio e pepe is one of the best pasta dishes that I have ever had. Luma does its best to make you feel like you have been invited into a home. As I spoke with the owner about the menu one night (oh yes, there were multiple visits), he mentioned that they had just gotten some black truffle that wasn't on the menu. I mentioned that black truffle was my favorite flavor in the world, and he set immediately to describing a cappelini al tartufo he could make for me! I visited on another occasion with some friends of mine, one of whom was a somewhat picky eater who simply wanted a pasta and tomato sauce. I described it to the gentleman and he was more than willing to oblige! To top it off you are given the backdrop of the serene streets of the vatican district in Rome. Few experiences in my life have been more relaxing than sitting at a sidewalk table watching the sunset with a sumptuous meal at Luma. read more

So this restaurant is a gem in Rome. We had just visited the Vatican and stumbled upon this restaurant. It had such delicious fresh pasta and great recommendations for wine pairings. Loved the home environment and if you are looking for an area with minimal tourists, good fresh Italian food, and a good ambiance come here. There was a menu in English out front, but inside the server only spoke broken English and no menu was provided aside from a chalkboard in Italian, but we managed to order.
