Been here several times. The indifference of the staff is off putting. The fact that they only take cash is more off putting. The food is good, not great. This place had a lot of items on their menu and like Gordon Ramsay says makes you wonder how they keep all the ingredients fresh when the customers can choose from so many different dishes... Also, they have a lot of pictures on the ceilings and covering almost every inch of wall space and I know they're not taking them down and dusting regularly. The dish I had had a weird fish smell not a pleasant experience felt like Gordon Ramsay would shun me for being in this establishment. Don't think I would recommend this to anyone. walked upon here by accident and what a pleasant surprise it was. amazing food done really well with apparent special attention to quality ingredients. that crust on that $5 slice was very very nice. a bit taken back (as out of towners) that credit was not an option. lucky for me that we had liquid funds on hand to enjoy our meal. i will go back here. a sign on the door mentioning only cash, or of the sorts, would be helpful. love the wine and beer menu. delicious house dip. bottle that and sell it! addicting to say the least. well done. the building is aesthetically pleasing even though the dark blue walls could take a step back. i really love the look of it all and would love to have a place like this of my own. i could hear laughter in the walls. read more

Yes it is totally old school family owned Italian restaurant got the impression maybe they might be from N.J. And yes I can relate. Being my background is from the Food Service Industry. I can say this the service was very good our server was friendly, personable and very helpful. Since to some degree they are pushing the pasta out the door I would change one thing I would lower there food cost and save alot of time. Make your small or half portion size your standard size. I can tell that Luna is not using high quality pasta standard quality at best. Do you want to be know for large portions or beyond good food which there's nothing wrong with that if that's what your striving for. I realize you have good pizza and leave it at that. Would I go back there again probably not. My chicken marsala was ok at best taste really light on flavor, chicken was on the chewy side no medallions large stripes. My wife had chicken and broccoli no flavor at all ridiculous portion that you would bring home and throw some or most of it out. Not good. read more

Finally made it in on a day/time they were open! Hand down the only complaint from me is they keep random hours and they seem to be closed sporadically also. Now for my experience in the restaurant. I arrive for a very early dinner/late lunch and the restaurant was nearly empty. I have the nicest server named Alicia. I ordered my son, a slice of cheese pizza and I ended up going with the manicotti. I cannot overstate enough that the portions are massive! The restaurant serves " family style" and each entrée will feed two adults at least. Additionally, they have a bread, dipping sauce made from garlic and cherry peppers. It's absolutely wonderful. Called ahead to make sure they were open for service (Saturday afternoon), and opted for take out. Decided to share two items (Calzone & Ziti) between us two, and could have fed a party of 6 if not more. Ziti was delicious, and the calzone was stuffed with cheeses magic. Delicious marinara to dip. Best Italian food in Venice. The Saltimbocca and eggplant Parmesan are my favorites. All entrees come on platters big enough to share. They serve fresh baked bread and salsa, which works as a great side dish. Service is a bit hit or miss, ambiance is that of an old fashioned sports bar. They serve beer and wine; the wine is fairly priced. Recommend it 100%. read more

Luna's used to be one of our favorites. Most of their standards have diminished. Quantity trumps quality....now your table greets you with tasteless store bought buns (smothered with garlic infused Crisco) instead of their homemade loaves. After reading past reviews, the "Establishment" should have considered them as constructive criticism. Really big portions, borderline fancy Italian food. Very good, just not exquisite. If you like well prepared, large plates of nice comfort Italian food, this is the place. A little understaffed, but super friendly and empathetic to questions and wait times. Recommend the Stromboli but split it with another if you're not prepared to take leftovers with you. Their red sauce is how I prefer it, on the thicker, sweeter side. My wife prefers the thinner, more vinegary and tomatoey kind of sauce, but that's not happening here. Nice semi upscale restaurant located a little off Venice Avenue. Serving sizes were huge, enough for 2 or 3 meals so plan on getting a box if you're not sharing a plate. Ok so this is one of those reviews that is good and not so good. First of all, the place itself has a really nice casual atmosphere on the inside and beautiful outdoor dining area. The owner is the hostess and let me just say she is very colorful. Unfortunately each time we have gone, there seems to be people that were waiting for their tables ahead of us and were saying she was always rude but we all thought her personality was great and love her. The food where to begin. The table bread, best table bread I have ever had and we eat out 4 times a week. The food is huge and really good with great prices for the amount of food you get. Now the downside, worst service we have ever had at any restaurant and we have gone back three times, so not just a one off. The wait staff are far from attentive, always seem to forget items that you ordered with just an "oh I forgot." Looking for drink refills, even for water, truthfully forget it. You're better off bringing a bottle of water. As far as any type of service, they take your order, you may and I mean may see them one more time and then they drop off your handwritten check that you truly have a hard time reading. Last time we were there we ordered two meals and two beers. There were six items on our handwritten bill that you could not make out but could see the prices. At that point we were ready to leave, they were no where to be found, so we just deducted the extra charges from the tip we left. Truly, this would be 5 stars if they would just do something about the service. But, it's always crowded, so guess that's not a priority and truly we will be going back for the bread and food and hope for the best with the service, although next time, I'll have them bring me three glasses of water at one time. read more

Let me start by saying that I really wanted to like this place. I loved the decor, it was very eclectic and kind of had a sports bar feel. The food was OK. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were large. My husband loved his chicken Parm sub. My chicken piccata was OK but had way too many mushrooms. The service however, was totally lacking. I can understand when a place is busy why things are slow. When we were seated, it took the waiter forever to come over and greet us. We understood, though, because he was busy. He was kind of gruff and not really happy to answer any questions and rushed us, but we placed our order. He came back once and asked if we needed another drink. I ordered a second drink. 20 minutes later I still did not have my drink and we were done with our meals. When the waiter finally returned to bring our bill, I mentioned that I never received my second drink. In a rude tone, he said, "I know" "There was no I'm sorry or let me get it now." It was just like I know. I would've let it go if he just said I'm sorry. I got caught up. Because of this, we will never go back and that is a shame. It's a family restaurant, so they have their own schedule, with some days off, so it is better you call before going or ask for their calendar. The portions are huge and the flavor is really good. Luna's is a must do experience every time we are in Venice! It's such a cute building and the outside area is adorable. Please believe your waitress when they explain portion sizes! Your pre meal bread comes with the best dip I've ever eaten! We could have stopped at bread and been happy. We ordered fried Ravioli & were stuffed full before our Stromboli even came out! The Stromboli was bigger than my arm from elbow to fingertips! The 2 of us have eaten 3 meals already and still have some left! Got to say I am torn on this review. One one hand we have been coming here for 20+ years. Luna is an institution on the island. The food is both plentiful and tasty. However, over the years it has been slowly creeping down hill. The night I write this, had to have been my worst experience at Luna ever. How bad? Well if this was my first time I would never come back and after waiting over 30 minutes to get an ice tea, I would have left. It is a crowded Saturday night and only two servers are working. The hostess sits customers when seats are empty, not when servers are available. This causes the waitstaff to be playing a never ending game of catch up. If it wasn't for an outstanding bus person we would have never gotten our food or drink. She was the real GOAT tonight. Because of my past history with this restaurant I can't given them anything lower than 3 stars. My suggest to management is, with so many businesses hurting for help, treat your waitstaff right. Hire or have more people working the floor and stagger seating. read more

I loved this restaurant. I even had family mail me the lava to another state! Sadly, last time I took my family there (April 2025) they told us they REUSE the lava table to table, wouldn't let us put it in our to-go box, not to mention my husband and I took our pasta and shrimp home and they took the seafood out of our leftovers (presumably for the next dish that someone orders) and all we were left with is pasta! This little adorable restaurant which doesn't take any credit cards. It's cash only we were taken here tonight by some acquaintances that we met in Chicago and they raved about this place we had pasta with chicken and broccolini. They had a beef pot pie, which we tasted and was very good. Ours was delicious. It was done with olive oil and garlic and was terrific. They serve bread before the meal, hot loaves of bread and a very spicy spread to put on the bread, which was delicious. I had a Moscato that I shared with my wife and it was very good But the decor in this place I've been to 1000 restaurants and I've never seen pictures covering the ceiling of all types of sports figures the walls the ceiling everything is covered and it's worth if the food was shitty it still be worth going there just to look around the waiter's name was BJ and he was terrific and our friends Big Steve and Nancy picked up the check and it was a wonderful evening and a great restaurant for me. I've been to Luna at least 25 times; the owners recognize me. I love this restaurant; one can get lost looking at all the sports photos. They offer large family style entrees, their home made bread can win an award. This is Italian comfort food. With that said, my last visit was not good; the portions (2 entrees) were smaller and on both dishes, the pasta was cold. I don't mean "not warm" I mean cold, like out of the refrigerator. I will give one more visit to see if that was an off night. read more
