Phenomenal. I am writing this review a week later as I sit in the restaurant again. It's that good that we came back for lunch. Got here right at dinner open at 5pm. Joined the crowd but there were a few tables left. Great vibe. Cool vietnam inspired decor. We went crazy for two people and ordered the following: Soft shell crab fritters: large portion and exactly what it should have been. Nicely fried portions of crab with a variety of vegetables and leaves to wrap. Beef carpaccio: excellent and delicious. The vinegrette was very nice on it. Wagyu pho with pork cracking added was amazing. Wife loved it and will always order it. Generous amount of meat. Crab fried rice: solid. Lots of crab Steak luc luc: this was ok Pork tomahawk was incredible. Possibly best pork dish in the city. Excellent flavour. Was amazing the next day as leftovers too. Tiramisu was ok Celebration dessert also ok This is permanently part of the rotation. So good. Pork skewers were excellent. Great flavour.

Finally made it out to the infamous Lunch Lady. We had to book our reservation way in advance but since we did, it was not hard to find a booking for a weekend. The restaurant itself has a really fun vibe that gives homage to the traditional food stalls in Vietnam. We got seated pretty quickly and service was very fast. There a seating limit due to how popular this place is. For the food we got the Saigon Street Tea, Pandan Coffee, Banh Canh Cua (which was the lunch special for Saturday), Prawn Fritters, Beef Carpaccio, Bo Luc Lac and Three Layer Dessert. For the lunches, the soups change daily. Banh Canh Cua is one of my favourite soups. Their version was very crab forward and came with a prawn meatball claw and fried donut. The soup was huge and for the price it's not bad. My only critique was that the noodles were a big mushy and prefer them more chewy. The beef carpaccio was super delicious and fresh and the prawn fritter was huge and came with lots of green. The three layer dessert (not a true Che Ba Mau which is a coconut based drink) was a Vietnamese Banh Bo Nuong with ice cream and a strawberry sauce. Very interesting combo that worked pretty well. I get the hype and I think the food here really highlights the diversity of dishes that Vietnam has to offer versus what people typically think of which is Pho. It's definitely a very trendy spot and a nice place to go with friends and try a variety of dishes. I think flavours could be punchier but I might just be biased as a viet person (hence the 4 star). Regardless my friends and I definitely plan on coming back for the dinner menu.

ALL THE FOOD WAS SPECTACULAR. We were pleased from the very first bite. The star of the show was definitely the crab fried rice. It came with extra soy sauce, but we found it was Al really well seasoned. If you are bringing kids, the food can be little bit spicy for them. Service was excellent. Do make a reservation to guarantee a table. However, they have a separate time at their entrance for those who do not have a reservation, so you have a chance of getting a table that way!

Came back for dinner and wow, everything we ordered was amazing. The crab fried rice was packed with generous pieces of crab and was incredibly flavorful. The short rib rigatoni was a standout. The meat was tender and fall apart, and the sauce was rich, slightly sweet with a subtle kick. The tomatoes added a perfect touch of freshness and sweetness. For dessert, the three layer dessert was excellent. The pandas chewy, rice cake paired perfectly with the ice cream and crispy topping, and it was just the right level of sweetness. We will definitely be back.

An up and coming restaurant so I decided to give it a try! Everything was tasty and homey. They really executed their concept well, blending traditional Vietnamese dishes and flavour profiles with a unique twist. I wanted to try a variety of foods so I got the beef carpaccio, crab fried rice, and pork tomahawk at the recommendation of some friends, and none of them disappointed. After I finished each dish I was left wanting more. Price point was a bit high so definitely not something you could eat at everyday, but would be great for special occasions. It does get busy though so making reservations are recommended!

I have been sooooooo intrigued by their Saturday Lunch Special Banh Canh Cua which is a crab based soup noodle (different from Bun Rieu) with tapioca noodles. Living in the east, it has not been easy for us to visit here and try it. Finally, we got a chance today! My bad. I didn't know this place is this popular- we didn't make reservation and was told that wait time is up 35 mis. 14 groups ahead of us. The entrance was packed with people lining up. It was already 2pm and the last order is 3pm. Do we wait? Of course yes. The staff members were excellent in handling the line and waitlist, and we're seated in less than the expected wait time. Howeverrrrrr, our table server had a bad news.... they ran out of Banh Canh Cua already! I held my tears when I heard it! But the server told me their Wagyu beef pho is super good. Rare wagyu short rib, beef cheek, ox tail, bone marrow withspecial 24 hr beef broth? How can I say no. My hubby got regular beef pho. We also got soft shell crab. Wagyu pho was very satisfying. Rare wagyu was served in a separate plate so I can control the done-ness for my liking. Thank you! Those unconventional meat parts were so good, all cooked to the perfectly tender texture. I wished the broth were hotter but nonetheless it was a really special bowl. The regular beef pho was great as well, we liked their broth flavor. Delicate, savoury, well rounded and nothing lacking. Pleasant hint of natural sweetness. Delicious. Soft shell crab was delicious as well. Juice spills when I broke the thin crisp coating. :) We had pandan cake served with milk gelato and strawberry & red bean sauce, topped with mung bean crunch sprinkles. It's a hybrid of a sponge cake and mochi texture - but deep fried, so the edge was like a crispy fried french toast. Savoury and chewy, crispy - very unique and we liked it. Refreshing! Our table service (Tristan) was excellent. He turned my disappointment (of no Banh Canh Cua for today) into super satisfying experience. Efficient, attentive and personalized interactions (in this super busy environment) really made a difference. Many people say this place is expensive but with his services, I felt it worth the $. I will come back - next time for Banh Canh Cua!!! It is only for Saturday and tends to be gone by 2pm. Sure. See you soon Banh Canh Cua!!!!!

Came back here for a special occasion and loved the dinner menu! The apps were delicious - we loved the octopus skewers, beef carpaccio, and the garlic noodles. The wagyu pho was a bit of a mixed bag as I loved the rare wagyu beef but the broth felt like it was missing that extra punch. Overall a delicious meal.

We were really excited to try this place and even made a reservation beforehand, which I'd recommend to save time. Unfortunately, I left a bit disappointed--maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes, but everything got a little greasy by the end. For the same price, I think there are quite a few other Vietnamese spots that are just as good, or even better. Worth to try but probably wont visit again.

I had heard mixed reviews about this place so I didn't go on with much expectations. Service was incredible and the food was served very quickly. As there were 6 of us, we shared the 2 person and 4 person Family Style menu. My favourite dish was the Beef Carpacio. I didn't read the description but one bite in and you get all the aromas of pho, what a pleasant surprise! The crispy taro chips are addictive. The rest of the menu was great too, minis the garlic noodles. It was way too salty. All in all our party really enjoyed the food and service and would come back.

This was my second time at Lunch Lady, and this time I tried the dinner menu. I was blown away by the crab fried rice! So much crab meat and fish roe, it was incredibly fragrant! I also ordered steak and grilled octopus skewers, both were delicious. Lunch Lady never disappoints!

Great experience, loved the sharing style meal it felt so fun and honestly the $70 price tag was not bad with all that came along with it. We ended up stuffed at the end! My favourites were for sure the crab fried rice and the sticky rice desert at the end. The duck was also phenomenal. I absolutely loved my Vietnamese iced coffee but it kept me up all night Service was very quick and informative. Overall it was a great experience and the new and upcoming place in Toronto!

Higher end Vietnamese restaurant on Ossington in the Trinity Bellwoods neighborhood. Original location in Canada was in a Vancouver. Went on the recommendation of a Vietnamese friend who said it's the only place that has come close to her mother's food. Went at lunch on a weekday winter mid week - so happy I made a reservation beforehand on Open Table because it filled up very fast after opening. Had the special of the day - a seafood pho with a softshell crab fritter on the side. Generous amount of seafood - crab; two shrimp, crab meatball. The broth was amazing - so flavourful! I felt the pride was reasonable for the seafood pho. Would like to try other things on the menu in the future. Service was good

I went to Lunch Lady with a 6pm reservation on a weekday. There was a very short line when we arrived but were seated within 5 minutes. Alll of the employees were very friendly! We ordered the morning glory and beef carpaccio as appetizers, crab fried rice, garlic noodles, and pork chop as mains. Everything was absolutely delicious but if I had to go back for one thing I'd be the 3 layer dessert!!

They specialize in meat platters where you can create DIY fresh rolls. The platters come with lettuce, mints, vermicelli, rice paper and house special sauce. They also have pho, rice, and vermicelli dishes as well. Washrooms are located downstairs which are not accessible. They only accept cash (with a 10% cash discount) or debit. I previously have had Anh Dao for take out before - their pork sausages (nem nuong) are delicious and perfect when you wrap them with vermicelli and fresh herbs. Even when I got take out, the restaurant gives you plenty of fresh ingredients to create your own fresh rolls. I recently went to Anh Dao for lunch to dine in at the restaurant on a Friday around 12:30pm. The place was pretty quiet as it seemed like I was their first customer that day. During my time there, there was another party of 2 that also came in to eat lunch. I opted for the house special soup pho ($19.95). Service was friendly and my food came at a reasonable time after I ordered. The house special pho included slice rare beef, beef brisket, beef balls, and tripe. The soup was slightly sweet with a nuttier flavour. The noodles were unfortunately not the fresh kind but there were ample beef ingredients in the bowl of pho for the price you are paying. I love how in addition to siracha and hoisin sauce, there is also ground up chili sauce as well as a pickled sliced garlic and jalapeno pepper mixture at the table. Moreover, you get bean spouts, a red chili pepper, fresh herbs, and lime that you can add to your pho broth. Overall, a tasty bowl of pho where the quality of the beef was good. Anh Dao is a tasty option for Vietnamese food in the College and Spadina area. Definitely do try their meat platters as they are quite delicious!

I tried to finish the broth because it was so good. I would have given that first bowl 4 stars! Today was terrible! It just felt like a super water-downed broth that I didn't want to drink. Everything was just boiled and dumped in a water-downed soup base. The least they can do is use broth and dump it in the seafood tomato based soup. This was a 9pm dinner. They had their own family visiting to close up shop at 11. I tried asking them what happened to the broth today but they didn't speak English or just decided not to.
