A few days before our appointment, I noticed an irritated bump on the back of my cat's paw, just below one of her toe beans. By Saturday, it had started bleeding, so we took pictures and made sure to get her into the vet as soon as possible because we were worried something was wrong. When we arrived for our appointment on June 22nd, I expected my cat to be treated with care and compassion. Instead, I left feeling sick to my stomach. During the appointment, I watched as the veterinarian used forceps on the bump and ripped it from my cat's paw. My cat was clearly uncomfortable and in pain, and there was no pain medication or numbing used beforehand. Watching her go through that was heartbreaking. The veterinarian left briefly and later told us it was just a cold sore. We were given an ointment and sent on our way. What really upset me was that my cat was still bleeding when we left. No bandage was applied, no wrap was provided, and no protection was put over the wound. We had to scramble to find supplies ourselves to stop the bleeding and keep her from licking or further injuring her paw. After we got home, my mother called the clinic because she was concerned about what had happened. During that conversation, she was told that the bump had simply fallen off on its own. This was especially upsetting because it did not match what my sister and I personally witnessed during the appointment. That inconsistency left us feeling confused, frustrated, and unable to trust the care or communication we received. My cat is a member of my family. Seeing her come home bleeding, uncomfortable, and in pain broke my heart. I trusted this clinic to help her, and instead I left feeling like her pain was dismissed and her wellbeing was not taken seriously. Because of this experience, we will not be returning. I recommend to not take your pets here if you value them.

This place was a big disappointment. My poor dog had terminal oral cancer and the elderly female…read morevet (can't remember her name, nor do I want to) did not prescribe him pain meds. She instead prescribed a cocktail of 3 separate random meds I was supposed to crush and somehow give to a dog with a tumor in his mouth. It would've been much easier to give him a liquid med, but no, that wouldn't work for her, even though my dog was clearly in need. I have a background in medicine so I know what is what and what works or what should be prescribed. Humans aren't that different from animals. That was not the only problem. Our dog was being treated at CGV & I was reassured time and time again that as long as he was still eating, drinking, doing business outside, etc.. that he was ok. Well we decided on our own that after 6 months, it was time to let him cross the rainbow bridge. I had a date set for 3 days later for this to happen & we hired an in home euthanasia veterinarian & when I called CGV to get him pain relief for those 3 days, CGV offered 1, yes 1 dose of liquid pain medication. One dose for 3 days?! And then she actually had the nerve to offer to put him to sleep that day! After we're being told for months that he was doing fine if he was eating drinking etc... normally. I would never let that woman touch another animal of mine. Zero compassion and she made other rude & insensitive comments to boot. Then, a few months later our cat was dying and having seizures in the car in the parking lot of CGV. I waited 10min in the lobby for the receptionist to come back and tell me no one could help us because they were eating lunch. Had to take him 20 min away, to WVRC and he was put to sleep. I never would've even taken our kitty there but he was literally dying and it was close to home. Thanks cedar grove vet for traumatizing us even more than we already were from the loss of our dog 5 months previous. I'm still dealing with guilt over not taking my pets elsewhere, since they clearly didn't deserve the lack of compassion they received at the hands of a bitter elderly woman. I have found an amazing caring vet clinic that actually does things the right way. I will never recommend CGV & I make sure I tell anyone who listens that they don't practice the way a caring vet clinic should. I mean who turns away a dying cat who was a patient for 15 years? And 3 other animals in the same household were also their patients. We gave this poor excuse for a vet clinic, thousands of dollars, just to be treated like poor relations. Just because I'm from the city, and you don't know me, from this tiny speck on the map, doesn't mean my pets should be treated differently than everyone else's. That is exactly what this feels like

He sedated her so she could relax and decided she should stay overnight for further tests in the morning. The doctor was so caring and kind to our girl and to us. I have sent so many people your way because I have been so pleased with the service and especially really impressed with the care/empathy with a front desk woman by the name of Karen. She had always made me feel warm and comforted when things have been hard with my animals, my cat, especially. Today I was told to call Karen when I texted in my concerns for an appt. So I did so. Her lack of care and the tone of her voice with me/along with actually yelling at me over the phone about my potentially dying cat was absolutely mind blowing. If your place of work is with people and their animals you cannot treat people like that. ESP in times like this. I understand that this place has been going through a ton of changes, not enough help etc and I have been over -the -top patient in those situations. I was even late for work a few times because I wasn't taken for my appt on time. The issue seems to be (not that I'm condoning crappy treatment for this regardless) that I canceled two appts with more than enough notice because my cat was doing better with both treatments that I had picked up. Why would I still bring her in and cause her anxiety. The alleged "no show" that I was accused of can be described as I called days before and left a voicemail that I didn't need the appt anymore. I am so very heartbroken and disappointed in being treated this way today. Especially during a very hard time with my animal. Very sad. Karen should be ashamed of herself. You guys need to do better. I don't know who is writing all these positive, glowing reviews about Bernadette, but our experience was absolutely terrible and left my daughter and her friend in tears. Since then, everyone I talk to has had a similar awful experience with her. She's an old crabby woman who's tired and has no patience for kids (the last person that should be running a summer camp). My 11 yr old daughter (an experienced rider who leases her own horse and takes private riding lessons twice a week, shows and has many awards and ribbons) signed up for a week-long, overnight riding camp last summer at Appy Orse Acres. She was soooo excited! But Bernadette's demeanor, approach to teaching the kids, and treatment of the horses left her begging and pleading to come home the first night. -- First of all the kids are left in old RVs on one end of the property, out in the middle of nowhere, without any adult supervision overnight. And they are not allowed to lock them. WHAT? -- They are not allowed to have any technology, no cells phones, tablets, anything. No one is allowed to call home. What if something happened overnight? Thankfully I deliberately broke this rule and allowed my daughter to have her phone in the RV. -- In a tour provided for the kids after arriving at the camp (I was the only parent that stayed for the tour), one of the staff said to the kids "I promise you, there will be tears tomorrow". Seriously, isn't summer camp supposed to be happy and carefree? -- During the first riding lesson of day 1, my daughter and her friend were riding together, and again remember they are experienced riders, Bernadette said on her microphone to her staff (she didn't know the girls could hear her), "these girls are terrible, who taught them to ride, they're just awful." During the entire lesson, she was yelling and criticizing them. In my opinion, who cares if they're doing things wrong or not to her liking... camp is supposed to be fun. We weren't paying Bernadette to "fix" anything she saw wrong. The intent was to go and have fun with the horses and friends... we quickly learned that this was not the intent of her camp. -- Also during the lessons if the horses weren't responding to the commands of the rider, she made the rider put on spurs so they could kick the horse. Anyone that knows anything about how to properly train and work with horses, knows that if you're doing it the right way, there is never a need for spurs. This was animal abuse. -- All the kids did the entire first day was have one riding lesson and then do manual farm labor the rest of the day with Bernadette and her staff barking orders at them, with very few breaks or time for fun. Both of our families confronted her about this, but of course she denied everything, and refused to refund us our $750 for the camp. What a joke. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO HER SUMMER CAMP but if you do, please make sure they have a way to contact you if they want to come home!

OMGoodness! This place is a piece of heaven right here in Ozaukee County. I overheard some people…read moretalking about the Blue Heron Wildlife Preserve while I was at a dog park. I asked a few basic questions and found out that it was a place where I could go walking on trails with my service dog. We love to walk trails so I became fixated on finding out where this place was. It's only about 12 minutes away from my home so I decided we should find it. We took a Sunday drive to go look for it and I am so happy we did. This is a beautiful, natural preserve. I really hope that people that come here will make the effort to keep it beautiful. The trails are long and clean and they extend onward forever. The air is crisp and cool and inviting. I just wanted to walk off into the sunset and never come back. I was reminded of all the times I went volksmarching in Germany. They were the happiest times of my tour of Germany. I love being out in nature so I know my service dog and I will come here often. I can't wait to bring a friend and explore the trails. It's a little daunting because the trails go on and on. I wasn't comfortable going alone but I just know great adventures await us. If you love being outside and close to nature, you'll have to explore this place. Be respectful. Keep it clean. Take your trash back with you. Don't leave dog poop everywhere. Let's work hard to keep places like this open and available for everyone to enjoy. My dog and I were only out for about 20 minutes but I felt revived. I felt renewed. I felt reconnected to the earth.
