It's not often that I have a pedicure and a manicure and thought I'd treat myself.
I popped into the shop (opposite the fruit & veg in the Newton Gardens Shopping Centre) to make the appointment a few days ahead and to ask the cost. They do welcome walk ins although you may have to wait, or go shopping and come back.
My appointment was right on time and I was taken to a chair (in a row of five) for the pedicure. Whilst my feet were undergoing the soaking, cuticles being pushed back, nails cut and shaped, heels scraped, the chair was giving me a back massage. The nails were painted and then I was taken to a table for the manicure. I did have ask for excess nail polish to be removed from the skin on the top of my foot as it was accidentally marked by the staff member. If I didn't say anything it would have been left like that as she was wanting to usher me to the table.
The manicure consists of cuticles being pushed back, excess removed, nails cut and shaped and painted. The girl swapped over with another lady who massaged my hand.
Upon paying I found out that I had been verbally misquoted and it was considerably more. I would suggest that a quote be written by staff on the appointment card. The staff use their native language between each other and their English language is hard to understand.
Even though the costs are reasonable, I've given three stars based on the language barriers which perhaps was the cause of the incorrect price quoted. read more
