The fruit cake came with 4, after tax it was around $50 for the four which was a bit pricey. But I wanted to try so I figured it was worth it. My favorite flavors were the Mango Coconut and the pistachio pomegranate. They had a delicious crunch and flavor. Each of the pastries were crunchy and satisfying to bite into. I also got a few macaroons to try. I got the pistachio and birthday cake. The birthday cake was fine but didn't taste like cake to me, but the pistachio had a delicious strong pistachio flavor. The gift shop portion of the store stocks what feels like a little bit of everything. Books, stickers, soaps, lotions, trinkets, home decor, t-shirts, art, books, cards, chocolates...and that's just what I remember! And then the coffee shop portion has a surprisingly large menu. I'm used to coffee shops in stores being more like small coffee stands; but nope, this operation feels like a fully stocked coffee shop. Plus they also serve tea, matcha, and smoothies...and breakfast sandwiches, AND pastries. As you might imagine: this all makes the store smell quite good! There aren't a ton of seats but when I visited with family, we managed to find a couple tables so we could enjoy our drinks and snacks sitting down. Their coffee is very, very tasty - I tried both hot and iced lattes during my multiple visits. I didn't have tea on-site but I did buy some of their blends to brew at home, and they are also very, very tasty. Unfortunately they don't do online sales, and since I was traveling I didn't have the space to pack up everything I wanted to take home with me. Let me be clear: I absolutely love Hello Sugar. Their donuts are amazing, GLUTEN FREE the shop is adorable, and I've been a loyal customer for three years. I truly have a passion for this place. That's why it's hard to even write this, but I feel like I need to be honest about my experience. The first year I got the birthday coupon, it was great--no problems. But last year and now again this year, things just didn't sit right. This year, my birthday fell on a Wednesday. I was busy all day and couldn't make it in, but I was really excited to stop by the next day and use my birthday coupon. I'd even told my friends about it and planned to share the donuts with them. When I got to the counter, I mentioned I was there for the birthday coupon, showed the code, and was told it had already expired--on my actual birthday, June 18th That was shocking. Most places give you a few days after--or even a full month--to use a birthday reward. I wasn't asking for something unreasonable. I just missed it by one day due to a busy weekday, and I genuinely didn't even know it expired on the birthday itself. What made it worse was the way it was handled: no "happy birthday," no kindness, no flexibility--just a flat, "It's expired." It really put a damper on something that was supposed to feel special. And to be honest, this is the second year in a row that I've walked away from a birthday visit here feeling disappointed and a little embarrassed. Any time I come in with a coupon or reward, it feels like I'm being treated differently--like I'm doing something wrong by trying to redeem what they offered me.
