I brought my case to Lustig Law after the child support office based my obligation off of my gross income rather than my net income . Being that I am self employed with overhead costs , this was inaccurate. I received several strong recommendations to go see Johnathan at this office , so I did . After meeting with all of staff and presenting them the case , I was told this would be very simple , quick , the retainer would only need to be $5k , and i would probably get some of that back . Things started out great and I felt confident . I was getting an almost annoying amount of phone calls from Johnathan with updates , news , discoveries , anything and everything that was relevant . At some point in september of last year , i received an email from Susan stating Johnathan would no long be working with them and that she would now be taking charge of my case . Thats when all of the phone calls and confidence went away . In addition to the updates stopping , there was not a single time that I was able to call in with info or request updates directly with Susan . I was just told that she was unable to take the call and she would call back . That never happened . When it came time for court , Susan had a tendency to have to reschedule hearings because she was on vacation or just double booked . On the days she did show up, she would have to go over basically the entire case every time, right in the lobby prior to the hearing because she didnt stay up to date on what was going on . So i would show up without a clue of what was going on and get slammed with tons info literally minutes before going in front of the judge . After being dragged through the mud , get reassurance again and again , I am now paying more than my original obligation was . And the best part , i am now north of $25,000 in lawyer fees . What i now have to show for is a compilation of unorganized emails with different orders pertaining to my case from Lustig Law that hardly make any sense . I was much better off on my own and strongly belive that Johnathan was the backbone of this firm . My parting email from Susan was very random and shockingly rude . Part of me didn't belive it was her that sent me the email as it came out of nowhere, and called me several different curse words . Crazy because i am literally one of the calmest and most polite people you'll come across . It really sucks to feel the need to write this kind of review but please , learn from my mistake . read more

I hired Jonathan & Susan for my custody case. Thankfully my case ended successfully & I was granted what I wanted. I was impressed with Jonathan & felt like my case was handled with care. Any questions I had, legal advice, & case guidance I knew I could confidently count on him to help. Being impressed with her team & outcome of my case I naturally recommended her firm to my husband when his custody/child support case started. I 1000% regret doing that. On 09/18/2025 Susan emailed her clients letting them know that Jonathan was no longer apart of the law firm but we could trust that our cases would go uninterrupted. I truly wish we would have looked at hiring a different law firm when we got that email. After her change in staff we were met with multiple new paralegal hires who knew nothing about our case. On one occasion she assigned a sub attorney who also had no prior information to manage one of our hearings because Susan herself could not personally attend (this sub attorney ended up requesting a break during the hearing to call Susan & ask for advice on what she should do) . We could no longer talk/ask questions/or present new information regarding the matter at hand to Susan directly or to a person with knowledge of the case. Instead we were met with "We will leave a message for Susan & she would call us back". That never happened. We ended up losing this case. I truly believe the unexpected shift in staff/caseload/preparation, & lack of legal advice/assists was our downfall. Sadly, I am hoping my experience will help you. I met Jonathan late 2018 when he was working in another law firm. Although I had come to America at the age of 25, I had been a stay-at-home mom for 16 years with 4 kids youngest being 5 months old. I saw no hope for my future with no carrier, no family, only a handful of people I knew in America going against my ex-husband, a born and raised American and a very successful businessman. Seemed like it was a fight I was destined to lose! Everything was frightening and confusing and language barrier was appalling, yet Jonathan was there listening, caring and supporting. In March of 2022 I filed for what would end up being a high-conflict, 14-month long divorce. I saw it coming and consulted with a well-known law firm in San Luis Obispo. That firm assigned my case to one of their junior attorneys, who filed my initial paperwork and began the process. I soon realized that this junior attorney lacked experience and I was seriously outgunned against the bulldog my wife retained. This junior attorney quickly burned through my entire $7,500 retainer, and I felt like I was bleeding money while very little progress was being made on my case. I knew that I needed to find a better attorney who would fight for me, so I started searching. Finding a good attorney is a daunting task, especially when you're under tremendous stress. I had moved out of my house to avoid being falsely accused of domestic violence, and I was really struggling. I did a ton of research online and read every review, trying to narrow the field of family law attorneys. When you know that your future and your children's futures depend on how things turn out in court, the stress is intolerable, but you need to get this right. I consulted with three different attorneys, all very experienced and respected in the community, and ultimately decided to hire Lustig Law to represent me. From the first moment I walked into Susan Lustig's office I knew I was in the right place. Their staff was calm and welcoming, and they wasted no time getting down to business. I explained to them my divorce situation and the difficulties I was having with my current attorney, and they listened very attentively. They always took note of the actual time spent working on my case, even stopping the clock when we took breaks. I received a detailed and itemized statement every month, and I always felt like their time was accounted for honestly. Regarding the outcome of my case, I could not have been more pleased. I did my best during the entire 14 months to avoid committing any bad acts that could hurt my case. Meanwhile, Susan and Jonathon were on point with every move and every detail. My spouse did some very unscrupulous things and Jonathon was right on top of it when she did. Because of the timely and decisive actions of Jonathon and Susan, my case settled out of court, sparing me a lot of money and additional stress.
