They contacted me on June 21st demanding a nonrefundable 50% deposit, breaking the booking agreement and Hotels.com's cancelation policy that was guaranteed with my booking. At my refusal of giving them the 50% deposit, months after the original booking, and informed them that I was splitting the cost of the room with everyone who was going and at this moment couldn't afford a $470.42 deposit. She immediately canceled my room and then posted it back online at triple the rate that they were going to originally charge. This hotel is a scam now, they got new owners a few weeks ago and are now trying to do everything they can to nickel and dime their customer. If you were loyal I would find another hotel to be loyal to.

The 'Motel' part of the name is a little more accurate, in terms of furnishings. For what it is though, Superior Ridge does a good job. They run a clean, relatively inexpensive operation here. The beds were a little too hard for my liking and the TV was tiny in a nostalgic way. Microwaves are available in the hallway. This is a kind of 'bare bones place to sleep, not somewhere you want to really hang out' kind of place. Personally, when I'm paying for a hotel I don't mind splurging a little bit more for a place that's a little plushier. I was surprised at first that they didn't have air-conditioning (though there were both electric baseboard heat and a gas fireplace), but it seems that's pretty standard practice for north shore hotels - at least the two we stayed in on this trip. This won't be a repeat-stay for me, since it's not really what I'm looking for when paying for a place to sleep, but if you're just looking for a place to crash and want to save a couple bucks, this is for you.

We've most often stayed at the Croftville Road Cottages, and have never been disappointed. The cabins are always clean, and everything is in good repair. There is plenty of room to work in the kitchen, and it's well-stocked with basic tools; adding some special items from home (favorite knives, strainers, etc.) we've even cooked full-on holiday meals. Heat is provided by two gas stoves, as well as a spot heater in the bathroom. The second bedroom is not directly heated, unfortunately, so that's a consideration in colder months. Each unit has dedicated parking (enough to squeeze in two compact cars), and there are fire pits and swing benches to enjoy. There is easy access to the shoreline, and if you want alternate views of Superior, there are plenty along the titular road. If you are looking for comfortable, consistent (and competitively priced!) lodging in the Grand Marais area, these cabins are tough to beat.

It's a small family owned resort and they prefer to do their business over the phone and snail mail. There is no online reservation system. And they cater to their loyal customers who come to their resort for the same weeks each year. The beautiful location is worth the old school inconveniences. After a long hot day of hiking, it's nice to know that flushing toilets and hot showers are available near the main office. Cell phone coverage is limited in this area but WiFi is available at the main office and arcade area.

Nothing fancy or too flashy, but they make up for it with beautiful plots right on Lake Superior and reasonable camping prices. Even if you are not close to the lake, you are in within walking distance of the lake. Each spot is maintained and clean. The shower house and bathrooms are basic but clean and kept that way. What is nice about Lamb's Resort is that you are extremely close to so many great walking trails and parks. You do not have to travel far to get to any place where you can spend your day. If rain is in the forecast, you are only 30 minutes away from Grand Marais and can make a day of it there. Not a bad place to camp and make some fun memories with family and friends.

The bed was very comfortable. The linens crisp and white. The complex was very quiet. As I was out star gazing until the wee hours, I slept in and never heard a peep. I will definitely be back and will also recommend to family and friends.

The owner/staff gives you as much interaction as you would like (or wouldn't like) which is great. My only complaint is the sign and trail that says it leads to the lake...it doesn't. We were running late, and Bob stayed around at the window for us about an hour later than we had anticipated checking in. We were welcomed and given the grand tour of the B&B: several rooms on the top floor, including our queen bedroom with shower; the main floor, which has loads of books, a cozy gas fireplace, lots of comfy chairs and tea and coffee on demand as well as a dining room table; and the basement which has a sauna (with shower and toilet) and ski room with an area to get ready to ski and a waxing stand. The digs are clean and homey, and the entire house is scattered with art from Marlys (a truly talented woman) and other notable area artists including Jim Brandenburg. I felt like I was staying at a nice, warm cabin of a friend. If this is a ski destination trip for you (as it was for us) the Pincushion Mountain trail system is literally right out the door. And the skiing was amazing! We had about 1.5-2 feet of pack compared to the Twin Cities' nothing during the first full weekend in January. The sauna was a real treat after skiing in sub-zero temps. All I can say is, we'll definitely be back!

We stayed in the birch room. The bathrooms (except for the pine room- we were the only ones there, so she showed us around) are small but it's not like I'm spending quality time in there. A former pediatric nurse, lynn runs this charming bnb with her retired friend ruby. yummy breakfasts (accommodated our veggie needs), views of the lakes, a great sauna in the basement, and birds all around. Hiking and x-country trails cross along the road to her property. We were here in the early fall, watching the leaves start to turn. I never saw the manager or owner when we checked in or when we left. The windows were held together with packing tape, the floor had been melted by something and the sofas looked 25 years old and were dirty. My grandson's fold out bed had a mattress with a huge hole in it and was extremely uncomfortable. It looked like something out of a bad movie. Don't stay here. I would give it zero stars if I could.
