Went in for roots and highlights. Then decided a little trim was needed. Trim meaning a 1/2 inch at most. Trim the ends and also asked for long layer around my face, long. Don't cut the length it was down to my lower back. Now it's my (I've been growing it out for a year). The pain I've been experiencing for 2 weeks brings tears. She cut 4" off , bad layering and the highlights burned my hair off. The front went from one length to my shoulders to an inch. So much burned off. I didn't understand where she was getting dry from haha I'm so confused on how she couldn't do it but she has multiple clients that she's done the exact same thing to. I also read comments where she's known to be "biased" to people that aren't white which I'm starting to think they're true hence my experience. My consultation was 2 min of her starring 15 ft away and already making a decision to another 2 min of her touching my hair & not giving any real reasons on why she can't do it. read more

Went in to get my hair done last Saturday on the 13th. I texted the salon and Nancy texted me back and said to come in at 12. I arrived maybe 10 minutes early and she already looked super busy with clients. Said she would be right with me but it took forever for her to actually get to me. Her assistants were doing most of the work while she was going back and forth from different chair to chair. Everyone sitting there all bored with hair dye in their hair just waiting waiting waiting....snooze! I was there until 5pm! 5 hours for a violet balayage and cut. Ridiculous. She kept bouncing around between me and like 4 other girls. I have never scheduled an apt with a hair dresser who doesn't dedicate all their time to you for the time you agreed on. I rather they had told me they had no space come back another day. 5 hours is excessive! Pendejadas! Regardless i did like my hair when all done and walked out pretty happy. I messed up later that night by washing my hair and seeing all the color wash out of my hair! Wahhh! So i texted Nancy to see if she could help me out. She said of course and to come in the next day on Sunday. That visit was better as it didn't take as long but to be honest she was pretty rude and didn't acknowledge me when i walked in. No one greets you for fuck sake! She also didn't take care of me herself. One of her assistants helped me out. Fine whatever. They added color again and told me to try and not wash my hair everyday. Ok...so this time i walked out and didn't wash my hair after that for a full 4 days. Guess what the color STILL washed out like the first time!!! What should have been a beautiful violet color is now a faded like light blue with some strands that are gray and not really holding ANY color whatsoever! WTF i went in to cover my grey hairs not to get more and now i have to walk around like that??? How fucking embarrassing! Im ashamed to tell people where i got my hair done. I understand color will wash out but it hasn't even been a full week. And for what she charges! It might have been worth it if today my hair still looked like it did when i walked out of her salon. I have had many bad experiences with salons, mostly due to my thick Asian hair that doesn't want to change color for anyone. Very unhappy with my long layered haircut and extensions that were performed here by Nancy. Ended up having her remove the extensions because 4 days after visiting, 3 pieces had already came off and I hated the layers that were cut. I ended up having her cut all my length off and cutting my hair into a blunt bob to remove all the random layers she created. Sadly, $325 (not including tip) down the drain. Replying to your comment, I loved my hair when i left the salon the first time because it was styled and curled. You told me to wait 3 days before washing it and I did, and thats when I called you because the extension pieces came out on my first shampoo. Also, you refused to offer me a refund when I returned, due to the extensions not staying in, any the only option you gave me was to fix the haircut. I decided better to fix my hair then to leave with nothing. I have no hard feelings besides losing my length, and mean no distespect to your salon. But the nature of yelp is to leave honest reviews, and in all honesty, I was unhappy with the services rendered. I got a brazilian blowout from here back in May.The hairstylist provided me with all the details about the blowout and aftercare and Nancy came by time to time just to keep a check. I love how this salon keeps a flat rate on the blowouts, they dont add bullshit charge ons if you have "long hair" or "thicker hair" of how cutie salon across the street told me. This is my 2nd time coming back to the amazing Nancy @ Lux Hair Studio in Torrance. I work and live close by and am so happy to have found this place! She knew exactly what I wanted right away and her staff (wonderful kids) were super friendly and accommodating the whole time I was there, offering me water / coffee / yummy champs , whatever I needed to make me have a pampered experience. I have to mention the most relaxing hair washing I've ever had. Major kudos to her son, he was so considerate washing my long, heavy hair. He was very thorough getting all the chemicals out and still very gentle and considerate by making sure he didn't splash water in my face or getting water in my ears. He was very gentle. Nancy covered my sprouting grays with some ashy highlights without needing to over process my hair. My hair feels so healthy and the color looks so natural that I don't need to worry about new grays coming in for a long time as they will simply blend right in. She was so fast and efficient and super friendly squeezing me in with only 3 days notice. Right in time for my Birthday! I give this place 2 stars because the one time I did come in I was happy with my hair. Nancy did a great job. No lying about that. I am not the type of person who gets their hair done often. Even with a successful job I find it hard to pay so much money every 3 to 4 months on hair, so when I actually do go out to a salon I expect a great job done and hospitality. Her staff weren't friendly at all. I scheduled an appt last week to have my hair done today at 9am. Showed up a few minutes early and no one was there. Waited another 30 minutes and nothing. As I had other things planned I left. When I asked back for my deposit, and she replies "I told you I was on my way and you chose to go somewhere else." As I proceeded to tell her that she was the one who was late, she again replies "Wow I'm 5 minutes from my salon and that she was coming in on her day off." I'm sorry but I should have been able to get my deposit back as nothing in this situation was my fault and all hers. Rude all around unprofessional. No fking thank you. Nancy and her team are amazing! I came in today after my previous hairstylist "attempted" In balayage ombré. I was able to get an appointment the same day! Nancy is and her team are very efficient at what they do. They have a system in there and it works! Needless to say i walked out with exactly what i showed her that i wanted. Beyond expressed that she was not only able to save my hair but it was better than i expected. Her team has a system and her assistants know what they are doing. Nancy does most of the important stuff such as color and cuts and her team does rest. So don't be surprised that she works on multiple customers at a time- it's easy to get discouraged that you will be here forever when you see 3-4 other customers there. Do not come here! Nancy is very rude and unprofessional. Her female staff are also rude. As I entered she asked me, "what do you want"? She never said a hello welcome greeting. I explain to her what I wanted and she just said to have a seat because they were going to wash me up. She sounded demanding talking to me like if I was a dog. The hair wash was very good and gently by her male staff. Then a female came to comb my hair and didn't speak anything at all. Then Nancy came to ask for my haircut style and she didn't pay much attention to my hair requests. I wanted to leave from that chair and RUN out. The cut was very normal layers and she charged me $75 and she didn't take credit cards, she only takes cash, check or Venmo. Seriously what kind of business doesn't take credit cards. WORST HAIR STYLIST and customer service EVER!!!0 Stars!!!!! Save your $ and TIME!! I booked an appointment with Nancy for a steam hair treatment for 1:30. Came in exactly 1:30. There were about 4-5 other clients getting worked on by Nancy or her under aged staff members. One of those under age girls washed my hair with shampoo no conditioner since I was getting the hydrating treatment. (Also, beware, one time Nancy and those young girls were in the back drinking f wine together) Then sat me in my chair. By now it was about 1:45. Finally, at 2 I said I need to get this going b/c I have leave to pick up my kids from school. So ended up just re-shampooing and getting a blow dry all by the young girl! Never even got the steam treatment I booked. How awful is that? Now the kicker: Nancy NEVER acknowledged me!!! Never apologized for not seeing me or getting the treatment I originally came in for!!! Never offered some type of compensation. Nothing. Not even freaking once!!!! I was pissed!!! Similar thing happened last year when I scheduled a blow out for a huge party I was going to that evening. Came in on time. And she flat out said "she didn't have time for me since busy getting girls ready for prom." WTF?! What reputable hairstylist does that???!!! I had to call around a million hair salons to get my hair done that day. It was horrific. Why overbook?? Why not acknowledge your client? Why not apologize and fix it?! Have some dam pride and know when you messed up instead blaming the client?! I'm done!! Don't want this to happen to somebody else!! Don't come here! There are thousands of other salons in and around the area. Check those out first before you waste your $$$ I have only seen Nancy a few times. 2 of those experiences I just described. But no more. She has no customer services skills and is downright mean and cruel.
