They were very accommodating each time we got rained out with picking out a new date. They went the extra mile in the planning stage, from scouting out a potential photoshoot site ahead of time, to suggesting times when our photo shoot location (the Arb) would be less crowded, to helping brainstorm ideas to make the photoshoot unique to us. My fiance and I are not big PDA people and were feeling a bit awkward and nervous about doing a photoshoot in a public space, but from the start, Abben and Lily made us feel comfortable. Day of, they helped directed us in natural-looking poses and providing fun suggestions that had us laughing, which made for some wonderful pictures and good memories behind those photos. Abben and Lily both have a fabulous artistic eye for photo composition, and they truly listen and integrate your goals for the photoshoot. They make the photoshoot unique to you. After the shoot, their downloading interface is extremely easy to use, and they are prompt in their photo delivery (ours were delivered in little over two weeks). In terms, of price, they are a true steal for the high quality work they do! We are so happy and feel very blessed to have had Abben and Lily document these memories for us, and would have hired them to do our wedding too if it were taking place in Michigan. But know…read morethat with his attention to detail, his knowledge of DSLRs, and his eye for aesthetics, I would be giving this business a 5-star rating after my session with him even if he had been hired as a stranger. So Abben, my fiance at the time to whom I was newly engaged, and I all happened to live in different states - which made scheduling an engagement photoshoot difficult. So what better time than a shoot on the sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic while on a family vacation? To avoid unflattering shadows, the best times for a shoot are sunrise or sunset, and sunrise is definitely easier to have the beach of a resort all to yourself. But alas, cloudy weather for the only two mornings we had free! Abben not only woke up at 4:00 two mornings in a row with us but dealt with the tricky situation like a champ. After processing the photos, we were really impressed with the adjustments he had made. And speaking of editing, let's just say a long bike ride and insufficient sunscreen led to some awkward tan lines all over my back and shoulders that he also magically erased like a pro. Note that even though Lily wasn't able to be there for our shoot, normally both photographers would be present for double the awesomeness. That makes their pricing an amazing deal because most photographers would charge extra for another camera. Abben & Lily's style tends to be more posed for something like a photoshoot but more photojournalistic for an event. This is helpful for those who aren't trained models (most people) or maybe even hate being in front of a camera because you'll receive great instructions so you feel less awkward. And for an event, they'll blend into the background but still get all the pics you need. Look through the portfolio for these two and you'll see that they pour their hearts plus all their creative juices into their work. The only reason we didn't go with them for our wedding photography was that Abben was in the wedding party, and I wanted him to enjoy himself at the wedding. Otherwise, I couldn't recommend these two more!

She's great at making you feel like you are sooo lucky to have her as a photographer. She charges $5700 for an engagement photo shoot, 8 hours of photography on day of with 2 shooters (herself and a friend). We were traveling from out of town for the engagement photos. It took multiple emails (like 5) to get her to respond to a date that could work for us so that we could buy our flights. Our engagement photos weren't great. She tends to shoot from below, which wasn't the best angle for my husband or me. There's very little direction from her (I.e. put your hand on his chest). She does do a good job of feeling like the photos she's taking are fabulous during the shoot. On the day of, she likes to claim that she "takes charge" which I thought I'd like. She's not lying, she takes charge but doesn't pay attention to the schedule. She made me 30 min late to my own wedding bc she was taking pics and not paying attention to the time. My family actually said they thought I was getting cold feet. I kept giving her the benefit of the doubt but we finally got our photos over 3 months after the wedding. I cried when I got them, and not for a good reason. The photos are terrible. They're unedited.....there's trash in the background of my bridal portraits that she chose to not edit out. She put a filter on all of them but it just washes us out. I do not have a single one of my mom and me that's in focus. She took a million of my husband and me but I can't find one that I like. It is truly disappointing. I don't have a single photo from cocktail hour, no photos of our signature cocktail signs, no photos of our beverage napkins. It's like she was just shooting random things that aren't in focus. To top it off, multiple people came up to me and asked who my photographer was bc she was so crabby during the day. I will be asking her to edit our photos...tbd. I would never recommend Mishelle.

Didn't get many of the family portraits that were outlined, odd angles/lighting/bad editing/blurriness in photos that doesn't seem normal for a 15+ year experience photographer. While I will say there are some good photos, overall we were disappointed in our experience and the delivered work for the amount paid. There are many many anecdotes I could share that reflect our experience but overall, the day and 'edited' images reflected a lack of passion, care, or attention to detail. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but for a once in a lifetime event, the photographer experience is very important and unfortunately Mishelle missed the mark.

That is so helpful to a bride who is planning at all hours of the night (because, honestly, what bride doesn't plan at 2am?) - Alison is organized and thorough. I got all the information about pricing, albums, expectations and requests up front. Our initial meeting with Alison left us feeling completely comfortable in her hands since she was on top of her game. I never had to worry once we decided to utilize her talents! - Alison makes the pre-wedding and day of wedding run so smoothly. She helped me craft a pristine wedding schedule of events and was an expert at keeping us on track during the actual wedding without being bossy or pushy. She arrived on time and ready to shoot and kept the mood light and worry free! She even reminded me to eat (thanks Alison!) so I wouldn't pass out when walking down the aisle. She brought snacks with her, in case I didn't have any. During the day, she blended into the background and I barely even noticed her stealthily snapping shots during the ceremony and dinner. - Alison got my proofs back to me in a month and boy, are they STUNNING! The final product from our day is exactly what we wanted -- relaxed, candid, bright and thoughtful images of the best day of our lives. She caught every detail, every smile, every bouquet of flowers and edited the group down to 550 of the most beautiful pictures. I've just been skipping through them for the 5th time in a day and I am completely in love. Thrilled doesn't even begin to describe what I am about these pictures! I can't wait to pick out the photos I want for our album and work with Alison to create that heirloom piece. I'm sure her album work is as professional, creative and comprehensive as she has been throughout the wedding process. Bottom Line: Choose Alison Bank - First Comes Love Wedding Photography.
