I would give this ZERO stars if it was an option. Where do I begin? The woman who runs it - the front desk - she was a NIGHTMARE. She is SO RUDE she should be put out of business. Not only did she tell our crew her techs could do something that she knew they couldn't do, she waited until we were in the chair and nails grinded down before she walked over and yelled at us. We will never go back and we will tell all our local contacts of our experience because it is a crime how she is running her business. The nail tech was nice (despite the front desk woman barking in her ear) but she cut me twice (full on blood drawn), she did not properly clean her tools, and half of my nails were short and half were long. The other shady thing about the lady at the front who runs it? she lied about pricing and waited until she ran our cards. DO NOT GO THERE. It's dirty, it is over-priced, the nail techs are not properly trained and the owner and woman who runs it is a thief. We will definitely be filing a complaint with the city. Not sure if it will matter but people need to know how bad this place is. ALSO - all of our gel nails already chipped after 2 days. read more

I think that this place needs to take a really hard look on how some of their nail artists treat their customers. This is the first time that I've ever actually got my nails done here, and I'm very disappointed. My nail artist was very rude, I felt very rushed. She was very impatient, and her tone of voice and attitude was very uncalled for. At one point she even threw her hands up in the air out of frustration because of me! I just think that customer service is something that they need to go over with certain people who work there, I will not be going back ever. read more

I had my natural toenails and fingernails done the day before I left for Mexic. By the time I got back a week later, the shellac on my fingernails was already peeling. I've had shellac put on my nails multiple times at other salons and have never had this problem before! I always have to go back to have it removed because it's been on for at least a month by the time I am able to get back to the salon! Customer service is very lax as well. I was told that they don't guarantee shellac on natural nails. Well I can guarantee I won't be back and I will make sure all my family and friends know as well. read more

The lower review bc of the shite attitudes of the owners/workers & bc they are using make it up as they go along pricing structure. I'm brand new, first time at the salon. Got cut during a pedicure, poor job on nails & very difficult time getting them corrected after being charged to fix them. We spent $250 on our last visit and 3 of us had problems with our nails. Luxe Sucks when it comes to communication and professionalism. They were too focused upselling to hear that I was ALLERGIC to the chemical they tried to put on my nail a repeatedly. And when I stopped the nail tech from putting it on she stormed off and another tech completed the service. They also haggled over getting tipped before they even finished the service. My recent visit to Lux Nail Spa was disappointing on multiple fronts. The nail technician performed a sloppy job, leaving my nails uneven and poorly shaped. Adding insult to injury, her rude and dismissive attitude towards my concerns made the experience truly unpleasant. I was looking for a nail place in town and thought I'd try here for a pedicure with my mom. Unfortunately I'm not sure I'll be back. First even though there was 2 of us only one nail tech came over and was almost finish with me by the time someone else came over to my mom. Then when we ordered a drink my moms wine glass had lipstick stains on it of which were not hers. The person my mom had do her pedicure skipped the leg massage and hot towels and barely said a work or looked at my mom. My big toes also have smudges on them and it had to be from the day I got them done. Disappointing visit all around. read more

I'm here visiting family for a few weeks and needed an acrylic fill and pedi. I have lots of experience in visiting nail salons as I travel a lot for business and I feel compelled to write a review for the first time ever on a nail salon. Pros: clean salon with nice spa chairs and product shelves are nicely organized. They also got me in within an hour notice. Cons: I asked for a menu so I could read the description of services and prices. This is important because sometimes there is a language barrier or it's hard to understand nail techs when they are wearing masks. I was told there wasn't a menu and then quoted two different prices and it was difficult to understand the description of each. I went with the $52.00 pedi and ended up being charged an extra amount because they trimmed my nails. I did not pay the extra amount. Again, a menu would have been very helpful. Afterwards I was escorted to another nail tech for my acrylic fill and there was a misunderstanding about whether or not I wanted a French manicure. He had a mask on and I misunderstood what he said. He seemed somewhat offended by it even after I apologized. The reason I only gave 2 stars is because the techs weren't very friendly and the lack of menus. I prefer full transparency so I know exactly what I'm paying for and I prefer friendly nail techs. Menu's are inexpensive to produce and give the client reassurance they aren't paying different prices than a regular client. read more

The nail tech took my full set off & cut my nails when I asked her not to. Two days later two or my nails are already chipping (gel). I wanted to love my nails, but sadly, even given some time, I just couldn't. The quality expected for a $70 manicure (french tip) was unacceptable. The shapes were off on half the nails and the cuticles were filed in a way that it looked like my nails had already grown out after immediately getting them done. I was incredibly disappointed in Luxe Nail Bar. They did offer to take them off for me and issue a refund, but I had already sat for almost an hour and didn't have time to go elsewhere to have them redone unfortunately. If I would have had time, I would have had them removed. I will be trying elsewhere in the future. read more

This is one of the best nail salons I've ever been to. The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere alone is amazing. You can tell that they all enjoy their jobs. The owner definitely enjoys all her employees and customers and makes you feel extremely welcome. I will definitely be back here even if it is a 2 hour drive from Des Moines. The volcano spa pedicure is definitely worth the money. I've never felt so pampered. read more

PROS: Nice people, nice color selection CONS: The work was fine, but for almost $10 more than other comparable salons I expected more. Also sitting up on the high stool and leaning across the wide counter was uncomfortable. I also don't like when the tools aren't clean (like the file was white and I had to ask for her to use a clean one) Overall, it's ok, but I doubt I'll pay the premium next time. UPDATE: I'm having that day-after moment with my nails, and I'm taking this review down to a star. i Will not be going back I have went here for the last 6 months to get my nails done I get the same length of nails every time! this time I went in and about 3 days later my nails snapped in half and it is dipped nail polish and I went in so they could fix it they were trying to tell me I couldn't get it done because it hurt btw it didn't hurt at all I was day dreaming when they started to fix it and it scared me so I jumped but I told them to fix it and then 3 days later it snapped again and they are trying to tell me it's the length of the nail when it's not because this has never happened before!! so now I'm sitting here with half a nail on one of my fingers and two more have snapped read more

The only con i have is the wait time, don't expect to get taken care of right away without an appointment. A lot of the time they are incredibly busy! Well there was a lot happening with my trip in today. First I had to wait 45 minutes to get in, and once I got sat for my pedicure an employee accidentally sprayed me with the hose from the chair next to me. These didn't bother me because it was an accident and it's not the businesses fault that they were busy. They were just small frustrations. My friend began being helped before me and had a great banter with her nail tech, but when my nail tech came I tried to say hello and have a conversation but she completely ignored me. I (unfortunately) assumed she may not know much English until she did speak to me to degrade me for how bad my toes were and say I hadn't gotten them done for 1.5 years (even though I came in 3 months ago). I wouldn't have minded if she had at least made some conversation with me before this. I still laughed along and tried to brush this off, I just decided I wouldn't tip well. But when I signed the receipt she and the tech helping my friend looked to see how much I tipped and laughed. I just was shocked she was upset over a 3+ dollar tip after how she behaved. These techs should be trained better on customer service. read more

Our girls day out started at Luxe, we were from out of town and unfamiliar with the store. Prices online are $5 less than what is charge in the salon. After we waited for the owner to finally acknowledge we were there, she said pick a polish from the "rings". We went over to the rings and could not figure out which was regular polish and which was gel. I expressed to my nail tech that I just wanted a basic pedi with regular nail polish. 3 of us came in together, one was asked about a drink and her male nail tech was very attentive to her. My other friend and I were ignored by our nail techs and when we admitted we wanted the less expensive pedi, they started talking to each other in their own language and laughing. It felt humiliating and rude. The friendly tech asked if we wanted a drink and we said we aren't getting the top of the line pedi and he said, no, the first one is on us, then our nail techs went and got our drink. Then the owner came by speaking in broken English about "shellac and scented scrub", we asked if it was part of the basic ($45) pedi, she went running off, then came back with the scrub and the nail tech used gel polish. I was charged $52 when I asked why it wasn't $45 the owner said it was extra because of the scrub and I said I did not ask for it and she said "they do the scrub on all pedi's to get rid of the dead skin". What is all the scrubbing and scraping with the cheese grater about?? I think when they go get the drink they let the owner know we wanted basic pedi so she came by to upsell the services. There is no sign to see prices of services and being that the website has the wrong amount, it is very deceiving and underhanded how they avoid letting you make a conscious decision on what you want to pay. In the winter my nails are covered, I only go to keep the callouses from getting out of hand, not to pay way more for polish that no one will see. It is a beautiful salon with nice chairs and a lot of room, but the customer service is terrible, they could do so much better catering to the customer and making their day more enjoyable to warrant the extravagant prices. In the very least, look at them and TALK to them!!! Be warned - hopefully you will have better service....but expect to be pushed into going above your budget. read more
