First of all, I wasn't planning to sell my unit for another year. Craig found me by calling every owner of 1 bedroom units in the entire area for a client of his. This in itself was impressive to me because it showed that he wasn't scared of doing the hard work in making his client satisfied. The reason Craig won the listing after that was dual-fold. He showed up on time. He was dressed for success (in a full suit on an 80 degree day) and he instantly made me feel at ease. I left our initial appointment feeling completely confident that I had chosen the right real estate professional. Craig had my listing up with professional photos within hours. An agent caravan was scheduled for the same week. He worked around my busy vacation rental schedule and made sure that I knew who was entering the property and when. After a week, we had 5 qualified offers and we were able to push the purchase price up to over $100k above the latest comp in the building. I owe this all to my excellent agent that worked day and night promoting my listing. After we accepted the first offer, we had a cancellation about 2 weeks into escrow. I had no reason to worry - Craig had already contacted all the back-up offers and we opened a new escrow immediately. He babysat that one diligently until closing. I never had to worry about where we were in the process. Craig scheduled weekly updates and never missed one. I never had to worry about anything, in fact. Craig took care of every last detail. This was indeed the easiest real estate transaction of my entire career. If you are looking for an agent that works around the clock for your benefit, is detail oriented, organized, professional and super nice, Craig Hothem is definitely your guy.

The Readers Digest version of my review is that Craig was Outstanding, Professional, Personable and extremely Dynamic at serving me as I sold my La Jolla property. For the whole story, read on. Thinking back, Craig's initiative and professionalism first came to my attention more than a year BEFORE we actually began working together when he contacted me inquiring if I would be interested in putting my condo on the market. His approach then was friendly, market informative, and brief. I told I was not ready at that time but I might be the next summer and asked if he could check back with me in a year. Exactly one year later he recontacted me and I WAS ready to sell. From that point onward, Craig first introduced me to his firm; then validated his credentials; then began carefully listening to my desires; then began the process. Craig's pre-marketing research and survey activities were extensive. His communication, counsel, and guidance throughout was extraordinary and superbly tailored to my needs. His willingness and capability to become the manager of pre-listing activities (including needed repairs, quality enhancements (such as painting, recarpeting, selective upgrades, and staging) made the pre listing experience nearly effortless for me. The effectiveness of Craig's pre-listing activities was evidenced by acceptance of a valid offer within 7 days of listing. As we moved through Escrow Craig's close attention to every aspect of the process kept me well informed and responsive to completing review and execution of the continuous cascade of Escrow related documents. In parallel, his close contact and communication with the buyer's agent and tracking of necessary actions by all parties (including me) ensured that the process never lagged. Craig's performance was Outstanding! The entire experience was easier and more efficient than any I enjoyed In over 50 years of buying and selling!
