I want to start off with saying that this is a past experience of the building and services may have improved. First, this is a very nice apartment complex, though I have had pretty weird sights during my time living here. The building looks very nice! I want to start off with the surrounding amenities. There is easy access to MPG, and a convenience store, housed closely in the neighboring building, 3350 at Alterra. There are also other services near the mall, such as hair stylists. The lobby looks nice, a gym with a childrens play area, a clubroom, a pool that goes up to 5 feet, and a package locker. Easy access to the building via callbox. The garage has a remotely controlled gate, but it was malfunctioning sometimes I have been there. My mother's car has been stolen, along with many other peoples cars having their tires stolen. Also, the garage had 3 or 4 speed bumps each floor, which are pretty annoying, and probably has busted some peoples suspensions sometimes. My experience in the building was pretty poor.. Weird stains in hallway carpets, the elevator being broken sometimes, It has actually broken down on me one time! I should have thought of taking the stairs sometime.. don't know why I never did. Noise levels in and around the building were kind of annoying. But what really weirded me out the most is that the fire alarm actually went off in the building, frequently imo. The MPG leads to plenty of problems, like people using the empty lot late at night to drift their cars. To me it made the neighborhood feel lively. May not seem great to other people! I lived here for 5 years and truly loved my apartment and the price point for the amount of space I had. The interior of the building is beautiful, and the location is perfect--close to DC, the mall, and restaurants. Unfortunately, over the years there has been significant staff turnover and a sharp decline in management professionalism. Yolanda and Bria are two of the most unprofessional and incompetent individuals I have ever encountered. They turned what was once a wonderful living experience into a stressful and unpleasant one. Because of management's failure to do their jobs, the building and amenities have declined in safety, cleanliness, and maintenance. The parking garage gate is frequently broken, leading to car break-ins and tire thefts. The gym has several broken machines that are never repaired. The pool is always closed and undergoing repairs. Fire alarm goes off frequently. Trash rooms and chutes are not cleaned or sanitized regularly. Yolanda and Bria show no interest in assisting residents and are dismissive about serious concerns regarding safety and living conditions. They are often rude and condescending when held accountable for issues caused by their own negligence. At one point, management even "lost" my lease and tried to have me sign a completely new one with a construction addendum. The final straw was when they failed to inform residents about major construction inside their apartments. Contractors attempted to enter my unit unsupervised and without notice. When I voiced concerns, I was met with hostility and indifference from Yolanda. The construction dragged on for over 3 months--during which I could not fully use my apartment--and management refused to provide rent abatement or accommodations. Only after I pursued legal action did they complete the project and release me from my lease. I and other residents have submitted multiple complaints about Yolanda and Bria to Grady Management, yet no corrective action has been taken. read more

the actual apartments are beautiful. but this is not a place to live if you want relaxation and to feel at peace in your home. especially if you face an inner courtyard or pool. the property management does nothing to help with noise. loud music, loud parties, all past quiet hours. if you complain about noise, they advise you to call the police, even though there is site security. Lync claims to be smoke free building but people are constantly smoking huka and weed in the public areas and nothing is done. Management was completing construction and did not properly notified all residents of entry into their apartments. It's been a mess and a disappointment to live here. choose to live here if you aren't looking for a responsive management and if you just want a party all the time. otherwise look elsewhere. The reason why I will give this apartment complex a 3 is simply because the building truly is beautiful. I can not give a 4 or 5 because the management here is unorganized, unresponsive and unprofessional. I've only been here for 2 months and have experienced the following. Experience #1 - I emailed the HEAD manager on 6/23 asking about adding my step daughters to the lease since they will be living with us more often than before. She NEVER responded. EVER. Experience #2 - Nadine (an assistant manager) has been incredibly rude to my husband with every encounter that they've had. When he's asked her questions, she's been dismissive and treats him as if he is an ignorant human being who has no intelligence about himself. Experience #3 - On the 4th of July, the managers locked the pool that is here an open for all residents. They did not send an email, warning, update, nothing!!! None of them were here in the building so we could not contact them either. Many of us made plans to sit by the pool and enjoys ourselves but, the pool was inaccessible for several hours until the concierge found out and unlocked it. In my opinion, That's not his job. Experience #4 - They sent my rent bill, which I noticed had a discrepancy (they'd charged my husband and I too much rent). When I emailed them and pointed out their error, no one responded. NO ONE. I'm STILL waiting on a response. Again, management here is a problem. Experience #5 - Someone let their dog poop all over the hallway. (That's disgusting- shame on that dog owner.) however, when I told management about the shit trail that was left in the hallway, they told me that it was being taken care of. The poop has been in fact picked up... but there's STILL S*** stains in the hallway. Like at least 100 ft worth of shit stains. It's disgusting and needs to be taken care of. We all pay good money to live here. Management here needs to improve drastically. read more

I lived at Lync at Alterra for 6 months until my boyfriend and I were accused of smoking in our unit and asked to leave. On January 16, my boyfriend and I smoked before heading home from work. When we got home, I got off the elevator on the first floor to check my mail, and passed Diamond (leasing agent) and a cop, who actually were headed upstairs to walk around and sniff for weed/smoke. When we walked upstairs toward our unit, we passed by them again. They didn't say anything to us in the hallway, but apparently watched what unit we entered and then came knocking later. We received a phone call and email from the leasing office saying we had a lease violation for smoking -- even though we'd just gotten home and didn't smoke in the unit. We ultimately decided not to fight this because of time, effort and cost, but they were dead wrong for this. They offered to do a walk-through, and Andrea (leasing agent) claimed that "cigarette smoke was engulfed in the apartment" -- not thinking that (1) maybe she's smelling outerwear or furniture that have been around smoke elsewhere, (2) she's not a trained smoke-smelling professional, (3) most young people don't smoke cigarettes these days, and (4) that is NOT the correct way to use the word "engulfed." Aside from that awful, inconvenient and unprofessional experience, here are other things you need to know before deciding to move here. * The leasing process was convoluted and communication was sparse. I had to initiate contact for every single correspondence. * It is expensive. It is a brand new luxury complex, but it is also in Hyattsville, Maryland DIRECTLY next to PG Plaza and nearby many older and run-down apartment communities. Like in other buildings in this area, homeless people and others who don't live there sometimes find their way in and sleep in the stairwells or just hang out and play pool. * To be so expensive and not fully occupied, leasing office is usually unresponsive. My callbox did not work for almost 3 solid months of the 6 I lived there. The property manager Saybah is far from congenial or approachable. * Cops are everywhere but don't really do anything besides be rude to and intimidate visitors. (And sniff out smoke on residents' bodies as they walk past.) I suppose this gives the impression of security, but we've still seen cars with all four tires stolen, both in the visitor spots AND in the garage. This is a no-smoking community but entire stretches of hallway smell like weed on a constant basis. * All street parking in front was taken away and there are only 17 visitor spots in the back, which are ALWAYS occupied. Like all the apartment complexes around here, towing is insane. Tow trucks really have a field day every night in this neighborhood. The leasing office does not take responsibility, even when cars are towed in error or when they've miscommunicated pertinent information about parking. Garage parking is $100 a month which is higher than all other places nearby. * Dog poop is EVERYWHERE -- in the hallways and outside in the grass. There are so many shitty dog owners in this building. (Pun intended) The bottom line here is that Lync at Alterra is the same as all the other apartment complexes in this area, just newer -- and more expensive and oppressive. You should only live here if you have money to burn but for some reason don't want to live in a nicer area, or if you're one of those people that think less privacy equals more security. read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone to move here. I Never in my life dealt with poor management /staff, rodents and additional $100 for parking. This property has potential. Very nice amenities and apartment styles. I only been in this place for a month and everything is terrible. I really regret moving here. Here's why I went to pay my rent. I gave them $2560.00 via money order. No one would give me a receipt, they stated it will be added to my portal and to keep the receipt portion of the money orders. I checked a day later, just to see in RED past due balance of $500. Sent the property manager Saybah a message no response. I called to the leasing office, they asked me for copies of my money order receipts.. I visited the office. They made copies, no one ever contacted me., This was 7/30 I sent the property manager Saybah Kolako another message on 8/13. She called me around 8:30am that morning. She was nice and sweet. I was really surprised by her quick response this time. Later that evening. I received a call from Saybah Kolako property manager. Stating she found the missing money order. She then begin to say" you're worried about $500 missing and you didn't pay your August rent yet. I told her July issue needed to be resolved before I make another payment. As I'm talking she rudely starts to yelling at me. Saying listen to me. I don't play that shit, you must don't know who am I. I'm the property manager and what I say goes there. I did my research on this property, I'm starting to see the review become reality... She told me she will tow my car if I didn't pay my rent by Sunday 8/15 and evict me. I pay additional $100 on top of my rent to park in the garage, I started talking to explain what's going on. She stated fuck this! She slams the phone and hung up on me. I was shocked. I called her back and asked her if you hung up on me. She said yes I did. She said she doesn't play any games and she didn't have to call me back to tell me that my money orders was found at all. She was so disrespectful and nasty. She wouldn't let me talk at all. She said if I'm not going to listen to her, she will hung up again on me. I told her I will be reaching out to her manager. She didn't care all. You can tell she been getting way with talking to people any type of way. I'm only 2.5 weeks late. The issue just got resolved. Today she send me a 60 day notice to vacate. Like wtf is going with this property. I will blast them out in all social media platforms and I will call the news about this ridiculous place. read more

Sorry you guys feel this way, truly I am. Well I am loving Lync Alterra 4 real it all love and family here straight up. And yes when I moved in had to turn in and show proof of a PEPCO Account and Rental Insurance, It's against the law to record conversation without the other party being aware that the conversation is being record. Hell only bill collectors does that recording mess you are trying to apply for apartment but must record your conversation that is not cool and it's against the law. Lync At Alterra, is the best and I can't agree with some of these comment but everybody is entitled to their opinion. Nevertheless, we all have a bad days when you are working and dealing with customer services nobody perfect but sometimes these customers can be off the chain I should know how part-time job at Walmart . Maybe it was just a miscommunication issues which is not that serious. However, me and my experiences was great they even stayed late until I arrived and was moving in the manager waited for me this was a rainy day and they cared about me enough to stay late and it was late. Maybe you was overwhelmed with looking for apartment and moving to another location. I totally was a rack and they did made me feel welcome here. These are good employees and including the manager does care and have a kind soul all of them. Working here in the rental office can truly be overwhelming for everybody but when it comes to being fair and voices your opinion then do so with respect. Some of these comments I would disagree with but who am I. Truly love it here, thank you all for your patience and understanding and all your kindness. Truly appreciate you guys. Security is the topic. They have a gated garage which at times is left open due to issues with the door. I had my car broken into while in the garage. My car is about 2-3 spots away from a camera, however the office staff won't even run the tape unless I get a police report. Sad but I don't think they care. Don't bring anything nice here, I've seen multiple cars (even in the garage) have all 4 wheels stolen off cars. read more

Do not live here, there are mice in the walls. We have been dealing with mice in our unit for almost a week and management has been nothing short of useless and unresponsive. Between Thomas, the maintenance man, and Saybah, the property manager, all of Grady Management is shady and refuses to help. Saybah states she does not respond to calls or emails from residents on the weekends and has not tried to rectify the situation. We moved into the building just over two weeks ago, and the management has been very helpful in assisting with a few problems we've had. They made themselves available, listened to our concerns, and provided concrete solutions. Furthermore, they made us feel very comfortable in expressing our concerns, and indicated a willingness to accept feedback (positive or negative). Simply being so attentive to our issues made us feel better, and we very much appreciate their desire to make this a building where the residents feel safe, comfortable, and at home. read more

Absolutely terrible Leasing Office Staff. KENNETH was rude, combative and unwelcoming when questioned regarding misinformation and misrepresentation of floor plan features. Staff seemed not to be on the same page regarding information throughout my entire visit there. Started off the tour by being sent to see a unit that was on the unfinished side of the building and was not even accessible! Sending myself and the temp agent I was sent on a tour with on a fruitless wild goose hunt. (Not to mention the temp girl could not answer basic questions about the amenities in the building). I accepted this as a simple mistake and remained in good spirits. Then I was told by one woman whom I was originally working with that the floor plan I was interested in does indeed have a balcony (as clearly shown in the floor plan with no asterisk that mentions a balcony might not be available in some units). Then Kenneth mentions that there is no balcony in the units I was inquiring about. This was AFTER he initially said that there were no fourth floor units available at all! (which was another requirement of mine)...that turned out to be incorrect, as something was not displaying correctly on his computer. No apology for his confusion there.... So after expressing my concern with THEIR obvious confusion, and in having stated that it really does look as if all 4th floor units facing into the courtyard do have balconies (in having looked at the courtyard with my own eyes) Kenneth grew increasingly huffy and agitated and told me that this is HIS building and obviously he would know better than I. When what WAS obvious was that everyone seemed to be confused about quite a few things, so of course I was skeptical! Ultimately he ended up basically dismissing me, packing up my papers and bidding me good day since it didn't seem they would be able to help me. I have NEVER had such a contentious interaction with a person who hopes to gain my business! Lync is a beautiful building with TERRIBLE representatives. What a shame. **Also note that in the Google Reviews, the very KENNETH I mention above has posted his own 5 star review for the property, berating other people who have left negative reviews about their awful behavior, calling us petty and typical trolls! Use that as an example of the kind of unprofessional bull you can expect from this lot. And yes I am certain it is him because he was not smart enough to change his name and even used his own picture. Shameful and stupid to boot. read more

This place really deserves ZERO stars. Google their Corporate office Grady Management before applying**************** Andrea (new gal) will do everything possible to lure you in during tour. Including, lying to get a sale. But that's not her fault, her manager Sahvah will do the same and probably taught her these tactics. First visit was very pleasant. Large smiles, asked questions to get to know us, clean lobby, offered refreshments ,clean and well staged rooms, etc. however, never gave eye contact when asked questions which was the first red flag. We were thorough before submitting our application. Asked VERY BASIC questions. Recorded every conversation for legal purposes. (We are business owners from the west coast who have moved to the DC area to launch a new business. We are NOT new to lease terms) During the application process, we had questions. It was very strange, NOONE picked up the phone OR answered emails. It came to the point where we had to physically go in for any form of communication. Walked in, they had zero people in the lobby. So what were they busy doing if they do not answer phone calls or emails or have any future tenants to assist? Just a tad bit odd. They said "their phones were down" then provided two other phone numbers (which we tried calling and still did not receive an answer from.) Second red flag, however, were nice people and gave benefit of the doubt. Filled out the application AT the location because we wanted to make sure we were thorough and had everything completed urgently and accurately to avoid delays. SAHVAH, leasing MANAGER, told me which documents were needed (submitted those that night) and told me to set up pepco and renters insurance before even getting the apartment. Which was a little odd seeing as though we did not get approved yet..... (which I have on recording). We completed all of this and next day we reached out about a follow up on the application seeing as though they told us it would take a day. After 3 tries at trying to get a hold of them, I spoke with Andrea and she chastised me for not submitting documents that were NOT on Sahvah's list that she told me to complete the day before. SAHVAH AND ANDREA'S demeanor completely changed. Both were extremely rude, Sahvah lied to cover herself and told me she mentioned the new documents (which we reviewed recordings and none were mentioned - my legal team is on it), Sahvah lied and said she never told us to get pepco and renters insurance before getting approved (which we also have on recording), was told application process typically takes 24hours (like every other apartment complex) however, next day told us it takes 3-5 business days, and after cancelling the application due to their process, they are now telling me I have to wait 45 days to get my holding fee. Uhm what??? I have never been disrespected and disappointed in my entire professional career. Very disappointed in the lack of accountability, lack of integrity and morals. Very shady company. The building has been finished since December and only has 50 tenants. They're offering a month free. Now we know why. They are desperate. If you are anyone with value or substance stay away from this place. I really hope this review finds anyone who is in the market for a new home help. You will not find a home here. I really hope ANDREA, SAHVAH AND MANAGEMENT TEAM do better if they want to stay in business. read more

I haven't even moved in yet and I've had the worst experience ever with the leasing office. I have spent almost a month trying to get something fixed in my lease and they just keep resending the same documents. I understand being understaffed but if you have the time to send me the wrong information time is clearly not an issue. I literally have been calling and emailing them everyday with little to no response. I'm extremely reluctant to be moving here and will not be renewing my lease. read more

Well, my fiancé and I, was shopping around for apartments when we came across lync at Alterra we thought it was beautiful so we gave them a call so we can come see the place in person, we talked to a lady name Andrea she said it will be fine if we came at noon the following day. Upon our arrival we were rudely greeted by guy name Kenneth, seemed as if he was in a rush for time. He gave us short responses flamboyantly as if it was his property and he didn't need us to rent there. We ended up leaving before touring the property. Felt like a really nice place to live. They have a ton of amenities that other places don't offer. They're conveniently located a hop-skip outside of the city, if you're looking for something outside of the hustle and bustle of city living. PG Plaza Mall is right by it, which offers some basic shopping needs. Target, Safeway, Giant, PG Plaza Metro, Whole Foods, Regal Theaters, Carolina Kitchen and many other businesses are all nearby. They have a club room, parking garage, state of the art gym, saltwater pool and a kids playzone, which I thought was really cool. They have showers for the pool and all types of other perks that properties in DC don't necessarily offer. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something quiet, reasonably priced for the amenities offered and secure. I absolutely love love love Kenneth. He was so helpful, welcoming and funny . I was trying to find the right place for my son and he made sure I was very comfortable and gave me the best tour. The complex is absolutely beautiful and very modern. All the amenities you could ever want in one place. The apartments are brand new and all the appliances are top of the line. I swear, I could not have done this without Kenneth and his expertise. I love the complex but he made me love it more and I know my son is secure there. He was very patient and answered all of my questions no matter how many times I contacted him. Oh, the security is amazing, has a parking garage, loading dock, workout rooms (several), several locations for guests to meet, hangout and study, 24hr coffee bar, concierge, just so many good things that I can't mention.
