Entrance. The exterior may look simple, but it's great on the inside!

Wow! While it looks simple, it has many interesting things to explore on inside. It's worth a couple visits, really, just not in same period of stay. I liked how the place is laid out, good displays and plaques to read, study, learn. The rates are great too. Students get in for $4, that's really cheap. I will recommend this place to all who visit Lynden. It may not be state-of-the-art, but it's quite a good collection of historical artifacts, and fun stuff for all ages!

This Pioneer Museum took me by surprise and was a great way to spend a couple of hours. From the front of the museum or even walking in, it doesn't seem like it's going to be much. It's extremely deceiving. This museum was contained THREE floors of exhibits, including many military exhibits, World War I posters and newspapers, etc... The museum did a great job of tying many pieces back to the local area and many pieces were also donated by former residents. There were exhibits everywhere from how rooms were set up, to farming with farming tools over history, steam engines, etc...it was great. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would say the museum could be updated. For example, having interactive video screens with audio and visual information to accompany the pieces. This would make it much more engaging for kids. It also needs audio versions of the information accompanied by each piece, for those that may be hearing impaired. Lastly, the one thing that I personally feels needs immediate fix is the bottom level of the museum, in the extensive military section. There's a doorway visitors walk through that sets off a motion sensor and sets off a loud audio of rapid gunfire. It's the ONLY audio in the entire museum so it's startling and unexpected. I would be concerned for war veterans or anyone suffering from PTSD being taken by surprise by this sound. Aside from my recommendations, I would absolutely go to this museum again. It was fantastic.
