Sponsored by the Pickford Cinema and held about once-a-month during the summer, the Rooftop has been a family favorite event of ours for years. And it's only gotten better with time. They now have food vendors, a beer garden, and a HUGE blow-up screen - not to mention a great sound system. It's seriously THE place to see and be seen (and see a movie)! Bring yourself a chair, and a blanket 'cuz it does get a little breezy up there. We like to grab a pizza to go and eat it during the movie. Oh and parking is free too!

We got the curly fries and they were a little soggy for our liking, but honestly I'd still order food there again because it feels like part of supporting the place. The whole spot has that small local community feel, and you can tell it's one of those places people keep coming back to for the experience. If you've never been to a drive-in before, this is such a fun one to try. I'd take this over a regular movie theater any day.

One thing I recommend is that you go watch movies that aren't dark (as in brightness) as Batman was hard to watch since we were further away and everything looked black. This was my error as I should have remembered that Batman movies are usually taking place at night. LOL The movie starts at twilight so there is still some light out. If John Wick played first, and Batman after when it's fully dark, then it may have been better. We would definitely come back but for movies that don't take place at night

The other change is that they have added some massage chairs! Interesting. I've never seen massage chairs at a theater before. The screening rooms were well cleaned (except that I noticed a puddle of gooey stickiness under my seat when my wife dropped her phone under the seat). The sounds and picture was very good, as expected from an IMAX presentation. The staff were nice and helpful.

The screen was SO big that I could see Brad Pitt's sweat coming out his gorgeous pores! The theatre was clean and the movie started on time. Check, check! The popcorn had been freshly popped and the restrooms were tidy. A good experience. I'd return to this theatre location.

And...I was one of the moderate festival goers. This festival is the Whole Enchilada, the Big Kahuna, the... Nevermind... here is a taste of the program, and you can see for yourself. Imagine. Three spectacular days. Great weather. Free outdoor theater on a big screen set up in the middle of Taylor Street. (The audience sits on bales of hay, of course. ) Spectacular views of the waterfront, free films at two other venues. (The Peter Simpson Free Cinema and the Pope Marine Theatre.) Not to mention Buck Henry, the 80 year old Hollywood filmwriter movie actor and comic. (The Graduate, Catch-22, Heaven Can Wait) A selection of films: "Koran By Heart" " Patriot Guard RIders" "Seeds of Change" "A Perfect Soldier" www.ptfilmfest.com I could continue...but do yourself a favor.
