Understand it's a Friday night but restaurant was not at capacity and we waited over an hour for our food. Had to track down the waiter to inquire about our order and he said should be about 3 more minutes. Told him you have 5 minutes and then we're leaving. He came back and said we don't have sweet potatoes fries. Didn't anyone know this an hour ago. Finally my husband's fish platter came out and my two sides. His fish was good, chicken lukewarm. My sides were good. Disappointed there was no potato salad. Club soda was flat. At no point in our extended wait, did the waiter check in or offer drink refills. I only had water. Was in the area and wanted some soul food so I decided to stop on in and get a take out order. Walked and was greeting nicely and offered a menu. After a few minutes of reviewing rhe menu I ordered a dinner plate of 6 wings with sides of yams and mac and cheese. Paid for my order and ready to wait a bit for it to be put together, 5 mins later the person that took my order came out and told me no mac and cheese. I wasn't too happy about that because this was in the evening which means dinner is being served the least is that staff should know what's available to sell/serve. Well server went back to kitchen and came out and said sorry...mac and cheese will be available in 20 mins do you mind waiting. I really had my tummy set on it so I said sure I will wait. I leave for 20 plus minutes and come back the order is still not ready. Well I want too happy about that. Finally order is ready and I get my take out order and I leave. I would have thought for the extra waiting time I might have been offered maybe a piece of cornbread but no such luck. But I said all of that to say this...the dinner was absolutely FABULOUS!!! The chicken wings were fried to perfection, the mac and cheese was worth the wait and the yams made me wait to drive back to the restaurant and kiss the chef !!! The food was worth it !!! Besides the wait and not being offered or given anything for the wait I have to say TRY THIS PLACE OUT THE FOOD IS SO WORTH IT !!! OH MY GOODNESS...everything was good...but them YAMS !!! I would give NO star if I could. I went out to celebrate my cousins birthday. The dude at the door who searched NOBODY had the nerve to push me because I was standing in a area I guess patrons aren't allowed to stand. If he wants to do security as such he needs to go to a hood bar. I hadto yell at him not to put his hands on me. I would never patronize this place again. We left after the incident and went to Weeds on Dixwell and had a blast. read more

Place is a cool spot, not crazy about the loose booty drink at all but ehh. Food was decent. They didn't bring our food out together. My friend was halfway done before I got mine. She had the fish sandwich which she wasn't crazy impressed by. read more

Lynon's Restaurant is an amazing gem! We were struggling to find a restaurant that felt like "home" to celebrate my mother in law. My mother in law loves to host and cook soul food for many loved ones, so finding a restaurant whose cooking she would like proved to be challenging. Lynon's provided exceptional service, delicious food, and a wonderful ambiance. Our party was a lot bigger than we expected and Ms. June and the team at Lynon's accommodated us seamlessly. This place used to be so good. Great friendly customer service, food used to be fresh, the environment was welcoming and the staff was prompted and alert. Unfortunately, on several occasions I've waited 45 minutes to an hour for food. This last situation I waited an hour for my drinks and 2 hours for our food. The service is terrible. The owner is awful. Very dismissive and only care about the money of the business. Its awful because I support all black owned businesses. This will be the last time I patronize this business again. I would not recommend this business unless you're seriously cool with the owners because as soon as they don't like you for whatever reason they will treat you like crap. read more

Food is pretty good and reasonably priced but you cant count on them having enough food to carry thru a shift. Multiple occasions went with a craving for something that is a regular feature on menu but they ran out. This has happened as early as five in the evening, on the weekends and even during the week. Lynon's is one of my family favorite restaurant because of these reasons: 1: The food taste like your grandmother' cooking, it's great tasting and soulful. 2: They occasionally have comedy and the comics are pretty good. 3: If you go Thursday's, you can eat good and then dance the calories off with line dancing which starts around 7pm every Thursday. I like that I can stop in after work for happy hour and listen to some jams and enjoy some delicious food. The honey hot wings are now a favorite of mine as well as the shrimp & grits.
