Great pick your own strawberries! We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy but there was so many strawberries especially in the middle section! They sell buckets for $2 or you can bring your own container. It was such a great day, regretting I didn't try the homemade strawberry ice cream! read more

Took the kids here today. We had a blast! It's a long walk down to the blackberry and blueberry fields. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Blackberries were plentiful and big and yummy. My toddler was constant shoveling them in her mouth. None in the bucket, right to her mouth lol. Blueberries were a bit over grown with weeds. There were a lot of bees in the bushes. I ended up getting g stung trying to grab a berry and accidentally grabbing the one with a bee on it. Be careful! It can get very crowded on the weekends. We ended up buying a sugar baby watermelon that I'm eager to dive my teeth into!! We hope to come back later this summer for tomatoes and peaches! read more

This was a fun little daytrip for Little Mister, now 3 years old. Employees wear masks and there is a handwashing station at the entrance. It is a lot bigger than I expected and there is at least one pond on the property which is teeming with pond life like turtles and dragonflies. I would have liked to see a map with picking areas clearly marked but we made do. I actually called them at one point while in the fields to find out where the blueberries were located but we found them as I had them on the phone. We picked peaches and blueberries. The peaches were on the smallish side but the flavor was excellent. The blueberries were sweet and delicious. I liked that the employees were conscientious about wearing masks and gloves. Other customers wore masks as well though it seemed safe to remove them in the fields since there weren't people nearby. It was easy to physically distance. Overall, a fun daytrip that helps break up the monotony of staying home and you can get some delicious fruits while supporting a local farm. Kudos, Lyon Farms! read more

Overall we had a great social distancing trip over to Lyon Farms. It was nice to leave the house! We went right when they opened and it wasn't too busy, but started to get busier as we were leaving. We originally went for peach picking. The peach orchard is in the back and the furthest u-pick from the parking lot. It was hot and of course it's super sunny at the farm, so it was not an enjoyable walk with a toddler. The peach trees were interesting. There were a ton of fallen peaches so it was bee and bug city, I had a hard time finding great ones on the tree to pick. We decided to switch gears and go blackberry picking. The blackberry bushes were beautiful and definitely a more enjoyable picking experience. In the end we ended up buying pre picked items!! I'd say bring your own basket so you don't have to buy one there. I thought they were cash only, but they do accept cards! They have a ton of produce for sale-- vegetables along with fruit. I ended up leaving with asparagus, tomatoes, blackberries, blueberries, peaches, and an avocado. They also have this delicious strawberry cider slushy on the weekends. It was super refreshing and the perfect treat to head home with. read more

I actually had never been peach picking. I didn't realize how hard it is! I definitely had more fun picking blackberries since they were easier to tell whether or not they were ready to be picked! I went right at lunch time so it was super hot If you go Monday-Saturday, I'd say definitely go earlier when it's a bit cooler! You can bring your own containers/baskets but if you forget them, you can purchase them on site! Additionally, face coverings are mandatory and they only allow 1 group per lane! Social distancing is highly encouraged. If you're like me and don't carry cash, they do take cards! read more

Loads of strawberries for the pickin. Way more fun to pick your own and less expensive. They charge $1.75 per pound and $1. If you use their carrier. Not a bad deal. There were so many ripe juicy strawberries. We froze some for smoothies. Blackberries will be ready in 2 weeks, sadly no blueberries due to frost that ruined their plants. Strawberries - plump, juicy and almost as big as my fist - okay, that might be an exaggeration, but anyways you get the picture. Maybe as big as my daughter's fist. U-pick or you can buy them at their counter already picked. Either way, you pay by the pound for some of the best strawberries around. Blackberries are also a great find here. If you like other fruits and vegetables, you may just find them here come harvest time whether it's a nice ripe tomato or zucchini. It's all good. Very personable ownership and staff as well. Strawberry picking here is great. The season is on a roll and besides strawberries, tons of other kinds of produce are being sold. The fields were huge, with many rows of strawberry plants poking out through the plastic coverings. It's super easy to see the berries and you can eat as many as you want while out in the field. They are a bit gritty from the sand, but we didn't mind too much. Working with a friend, we picked about 15 pounds of strawberries. Needless to say, it was way too much, and we couldn't finish them all. Unfortunately they only take cash or checks, which was rather inconvenient. Most people tend to bring their own boxes to save some extra money. But ultimately, picking our own strawberries was more cost effective and fun than buying the pre picked baskets. read more

Great place to take family although it could use a little bit of TLC. The roads definitely need to be redone. There are a plethora of potholes driving in so be very careful and go really slow. Parking is not ideal during the weekends. Wear shoes that are comfortable and that you don't mind getting dirty. The roads that lead to the picking sites often get muddy and the fallen fruit will stain your shoes. I think this place has sooo much more potential. There is a pretty pond on the farm but it is overgrown with weeds. We never leave empty handed, there is always ripe great tasting fruit for the picking. It is peaceful and quiet. My family and I enjoy picking our own fruit. And the prices are much better than you find at the grocery store. read more

Great strawberries, great tomatoes (in early May, mind you), far from population. If you go to the farm, there are some good wooden cutouts of strawberries to stick your face in. There is also sort of an old graveyard in the strawberry farm, which adds to the scenery. The prices are very cheap, even cheaper than the Waller farm, which i thought was cheap. I've bought from them at Carrboro Farmer's Market, and the products are as good as other local venders, but for strawberry picking, definitely check out the Creedmoor location. when we lived in Creedmoor for 30 years we always either picked when our children were young and when they grew older and moved away we bought baskets. Then in 2005 we moved to FL and the strawberries there are no comparison to Lyons Strewberries. Lyons strawberries are the sweetest tasting strawberries we ever had. we have mved back to NC in Durham and will be going to Lyons strawberry farmer today 5/25/19. Bought stuff from them at Carrboro's Farmer's Market. Everything at the bottom (hidden) was rotten. Split rotting peaches, underripe or old soured blackberries, etc. The older lady who runs it was rude too. Will skip this spot in the future. read more
