We've gone to Lyon's for 30 years. Wendy Lyons, Jennifer Campbell, and Matt Johnson went above and beyond for their customers. Lyon's sold in 2024 and service crashed and burned. After the new owner made colossal a error on my rx we switched to Safeway. Kelly and Cam (he really is a marshmallow) also know and really care about the locals. I've heard many, many times that locals left Lyon's in droves. That's a sad state of affairs given former local allegiance to Lyon's. read more

We love the soda fountain. It has kind of an old timey feel to it, especially because it's in a drug store. The people working the soda fountain have a great attitude and work hard with a smile. And the prices are very reasonable. In a resort town, I almost expect to overpay on everything. But at the soda fountain, I'm always pleasantly surprised when I see the total. Be sure to leave an extra generous tip. The bar seating area around the fountain is open seating and there are about 10 fixed stools. As you head toward your seating, be sure to grab a menu if it isn't already at your seat. We tried a variety of sodas, shakes, ice creams, and floats. They are good, but nothing especially notable. The ice cream is basically a decent brand that you might come across in a grocery store (which is not bad unless you're expecting handcrafted ice cream). The sodas are made from a syrup of a highly recognizable brand and hand mixed with soda water from a tap. If you're in the mood for a treat and you're in the area, then it's definitely worth stopping by. We never tried their lunch items, but we watched them prepare a few items for other customers. The food all looked fresh and smelled good. The drug store itself is nice. It has everything you need and the pharmacist was the nicest guy. read more

I had a tuna melt and he had a grilled cheese. We spent a week at Steamboat, and everyone told us we had to take our kids to Lyon's drug store for ice cream. The experience at the ice cream counter was great. Jamie was super nice to our kids and they loved their ice cream sundaes. However, after having ice cream our kids had a bit of a meltdown. The store manager yelled at them and kicked us out of the store. While I acknowledge our kids were far from perfect, and taking them out of the store was the right decision, we were in the process of doing that, and yelling at them and scolding us on our way out seemed unnecessary, particularly for a place that markets itself to little kids. read more

One of the first things I hope to do after getting vaccinated is get back to the soda counter at Lyons drug. For an entire life time this has been a place of comfort and where I take my own kids for a treat. Lyons has the best selection of unique gifts around town and has an entire section to wrap your gift in too. I love that it's still a pharmacy as well because it continues to be a one stop shop for so many people in town. This is a compounding pharmacy and I believe it's the only one in town. This is my favorite little stop in Steamboat. An old fashioned counter serving ice cream and the best egg salad you can find outside your mom's kitchen. I have been coming here for years - first on business for a warm lunch and friendly conversation as I was traveling alone for a week Now when me and my hubby come to town I have to get him some ice cream that he eats at the counter and I swear he swings his feet like I imagine he did as a kid. It is a fun little distraction in an otherwise well stocked drug store that sells other novelties. They also have soup in the winter. read more

Charming little drug store like you'd expect from the olden days. Best of all, it has a little diner section. There are a couple booths, maybe three. My family was here on vacation, and there were 7 of us. We sat on the barstools. I think there were 8 of them total. In addition to some good lunch food (I got a half Cuban sandwich and cup of soup), they had all kinds of creative drinks, like homemade cream soda, root beer floats, egg creams; stuff like that. Lyon's is a great little asset to downtown Steamboat. The pharmacy techs are friendly and helpful, there's a lot of touristy-type stuff to buy, and -- MOST IMPORTANTLY -- there is an actual, old-style soda fountain where you can get milkshakes and such. My only complaint about Lyon's is that there is a scented candle section and when I walked near it I had to leave the store due to an allergy attack -- that's still going on five hours later. But that's typical for me and scented candles, so no reason to count that in scoring. Another GREAT reason to five this five stars is that the prices are HIGHLY REASONABLE, especially considering that Steamboat is not a cheap town. The Affrin I needed (unrelated to the scented candles experience) was $8 exactly with tax. In Walnut Creek, $9.00 for the Walgreens version. Like I said at the start: Lyon's is an asset to Steamboat and very much worth patronizing if you're a local or just in town to ski and shop. read more

We can get past that despite it kind of ruins the experience, however, she was serving customers while eating her sandwich in between orders. Take a step back in time to when traditional drug stores didn't just sell medicine. This place has an authentic soda fountain located inside! I indulged in a rich and creamy milkshake. This was by far one of the best milkshakes I've had in a long time. The server was upbeat, friendly and attentive. The candy on the bottom shelf next to soda fountain was a nice touch. (A good way to get parents and grandparents to purchase these items) In addition to the sweet treats, this place offers a variety of items to purchase from tooth brushes, stuff animals, cards, over the counter medications and more. I noticed our server making sandwiches without gloves. This made me a little concerned since I saw her just take cash. It's possible she washed her hands when I wasn't looking though. I am probably a bit more of a germ phobia person than most. I would definitely return again for Ice cream and gifts! read more

A local told me about this place, you'd really never know there was a lunch counter here unless you went in or were told about it. The place itself reminds me of the old fashioned drugstore soda fountains. Pharmacy and gift store with the lunch counter to the side. Great place to shop for unique gifts or grab a bite to eat. I've been back a few times because their grilled cheese sandwiches are just delicious! But I was really excited to see they have old fashioned malts, floats etc. The menu is small but it's a lunch counter type deal so don't expect expensive or fancy, just good food! The gal running the counter (the soda jerk) is super, engaging and friendly as can be. I almost don't want to write a review because it seems like a well kept secret. Been waiting for 30 minutes to be waited on at the fountain. The guy started at 12. Another family and myself were here at 1150 not realizing they opened at 12. He served 4 other people before he got to the family. And of course they ordered 5 sandwiches. Now 36 minutes later he took my order. He should have asked who was here first and the people who were served in front of us should have spoken up and said " they were here first". No common sense and no manners. Very disappointing. I used to buy comics off the rack in a place like this in the 80's...except my drug store didn't have a soda counter that serves ice cream. I got a "red eye" which was a hot fudge sundae with powdered malt, nuts, whip cream and a cherry. It was epic with the rocky road. I felt like a kid again. The young lady at the counter was handling her multiple customers relaxed and friendly. She needed time to take care of each customer and connect with them, so it wasn't fast. Possibly even a bit slow, but combined well with the atmosphere, offerings, and unique experience. Lyon's Corner's ice cream was a great punctuation to a beautiful visit to the cute town that is Steamboat Springs. read more

Yelp needs to add soda fountain to the description. And a delicious ones at that. We walked in because my wife had a penchant for Italian cream sodas. She ordered a raspberry but they were out of raspberry flavor so cherry it was. It was made from scratch right in front of us and it was delicious. My son ordered a shake with cookies and cream ice cream and chocolate sauce. The small was huge and it was also delicious. I ordered the peanut butter sundae. It was probably one of the best sundaes I've had in awhile. Additionally, the one poor girl working the counter did an amazing job not only making each item with care, but she had multiple things going and made it to everyone at the counter timely and courteously. Lyon's Corner Drug store is a "must-do" when in Steamboat Springs. Not only is it an authentic throw-back style pharmacy and soda fountain (think Andy Griffith)...but the prices are the best you'll find in Steamboat. As one would expect in a resort town, everything, including ice cream is super expensive. BUT THIS IS A PLACE you will be able to take your family without paying crazy high prices. It's cute, friendly and has great treats and souvenirs...it also has toiletries and over the counter meds too if you have that need while vacationing. The Rx people are nice and efficient, the soda fountain (with bubble-light juke box) is one of Steamboat's small charms, and the selection of creams, cards, gifts and knick-knacks are first rate! This is a Steamboat kinda' place of the first order. Real egg creams and phosphates--a great place to take the kids, but there are only about 10 swivel-seats, so you may have to wait at lunch time. If you're hungry for bigger portions, walk a few feet down 9th Street to Azteca Taquiera--wraps and such--or on to Oak for a fine lunch at Epicurean (French-inspired cuisine--not as good for kids). read more

This is a blast into the past. I was suprised at how few options there were, which was part of the appeal. being used to ice cream shops with an overwhelming amount of options this was refreshing. My wife got the lavender italian cream soda which was so refreshing and we may go back for again. I had a cookie dough malt shake which really was the best I'd ever had and the cookie dough was really good ice cream! The old time feel of the bar, stools, hangout inside a drug store left me with a feeling of "why did we get away from this?" Hopefully they will stay around for years to come and remind everyone of the "good old days." It also had a pretty impressive store as well.
