I also loved the show I saw there: Lubaina Himid's "Street Sellers," which focuses on street vendors and their colorful wares, as well as how they relate to society and maybe even capitalism and colonialism. Huge, tall portraits, filled with color. Reviewing their past exhibitions, not every exhibition is my vibe, but the art they showcase is very diverse, and there is something for everyone. Like all the other galleries I've reviewed, it's free. And when in Chelsea, you can hit up several and make a whole field trip out of it. So what do you have to lose?

You will definitely tempt all five senses. -Gorgeous Terraces where you can go out grab a drink and take photos of the Skyline of West Side. -Contemporary Art/Artist each work of art is in a league of it's own -Tour guides available to answer your questions and provide tours on highlighted artist and artwork. You definitely need to take the time to absorb the artwork and look for the silver lining. What does this piece mean to you? The Museum was packed, angry elevator lady and not many people of the culture that reflects the artwork. Weird. This whole place was pretty crazy, i did nit think the art was that interesting. I mean, everybody acts like this is a big famous art museum that can change your cultural life or something, but half the people walking around in there are just phonies trying to look like they're deeply moved by a bunch of twisted old tree branches. It depresses the hell out of me. ​Its not that iteresting so don't overthink it, with all those gnarly roots and painted wood sticking out everywhere like some wild creature.That part was pretty cool, I guess. But then you've got all these fake foreign snobs in cheap coatd standing around stroking their chins, nodding like they're having a damn spiritual epiphany, when you know they're just going to go buy a ten-dollar cup of tea downstairs and brag about how cultured they are. That stuff just drives me nuts. ​The room itself was alright, clean and quiet enough, and that colorful quilt hanging on the wall behind it wasn't half bad either. But after about twenty minutes of staring at roots and watching people pretend to be brilliant art critics, I just wanted to get the hell out of there and go home. ​Three stars. It's fine if you're in the neighborhood and feeling lonely, but don't let anybody sell you a bill of goods about it.

He came to NYC as a teen in1922, you will see a handful of his sculptures in some of the buildings and airport. This museum has three floors and a basement, museum store and a garden. Today's admission is free due to 4th of July celebration. Museum's gallery section is unique and different from one another. Visitors are not allowed to take flash photography and touch the sculptures or art display. However, being me I put that to the test. Hehehe. Staff were obsequious and professional. Free wifi. Plenty street parking. Admission is affordable. Overall, I had a nice experience discovering Isamu's art.

The pieces are in the open, not cordoned off so be careful not to touch them. Can refer to one of the laminated lists showing what's in a particular area. Some scheduled tours as well. Elevator, ramp for accessibility. Joined an art workshop in a room downstairs for first Fri - supplies and snacks/water provided, plus DJ music. Also chess boards were set-up in different areas of the museum. There is a gift shop, and restrooms. Close to Socrates Park so was a long walk from the Steinway St-M R station. I normally wouldn't mind if it wasn't a muggy afternoon. The Broadway N W station is a bit closer, also some bus lines.

It's easy to walk past and forget it's here or not notice, unless you're a fan of art galleries like I am. I've been here many times and I was here recently. I'm recommending art lovers plan a visit. I plan to return again soon for a closer look. I'll post more photos. When you visit this neighborhood there's lots of Art Galleries. Be sure you don't miss this long time resident of Madison Avenue.

Not being on the ground floor, this gallery is easy to just walk by and not your usual "tourist…read morestop." It's also much more of a specialty gallery catering to specific types of art: when in comes to modern master tapestries and ceramics, this is the place to go. Jane and Charles and extremely knowledgeable and have amassed quite the collection (or should I say inventory?). They have truly beautiful pieces - even if you have not been considering these mediums, they are still definitely worth looking at. Be forewarned, however, that both Jane and Charles LOVE to talk. So be ready to chat and be in the gallery for a little while. You'll be glad you went.

David Zwirner Gallery - UES Yayoi Kusama - Infinity Nets…read moreDisplayed: 11/2/17-12/22/17 Researching what I actually saw was necessary for me. Is it possible for someone to sit and paint the teeniest of repetitive patterns on a 28"x35" canvas multiple times, over and over? Why, obviously. At first, it was hard for me to fathom someone sitting or standing, tirelessly creating such work. But clearly, Yayoi Kusama, the oldest living artist at 88, has been creating these concentration of works the majority of her life. Admiringly, I must add, Yayoi shows whimsy in her art as well as her sense of style, even to this day in her octogenarian years. Her repetitious canvas works, that can pull in anywhere over $7M USD at auction, provides her audience with visions of obsessive strokes, creating precise curved lines and dots of creativity, over and over again. Each canvas different, yet the same...Nets of Infinity. David Zwirner's newly renovated Upper Eastside gallery, a restored beauty all its own, had only two other gallery goers when I arrived. There were no lines, no rush, no fuss. So this gave me ample time to sillily envision paintbrush in hand, dipping said brush in acrylic, applying brush to canvas and through this vision replicate her work...Ha! A funny visualization that's not even possible, as there's not an artistic bone in me. But honestly, that's where her hallucinogenic work took me. Appreciative to have viewed these detailed works of, dare I say again, repetition. Though, I understand her works are no longer on display in NYC. But be sure, Yayoi's art is accessible elsewhere globally.

Unequally split between the W 19th Street gallery, there are only two viewing rooms at E 69th. One only has 4 paintings. They are large with a carefully executed chain-mail effect. Personally I like them very much. A couple will definitely wind up in my phone wallpaper rotation along with Keith Haring and Emily Pwerle. The gallery itself has the prerequisite white walls and high ceilings in an elegant old townhouse. The exhibit is on the second level. I totally forgot to take a picture of the spiral staircase! Someone do that for me please. There's a frightfully small elevator in a closet if you need the accessibility. I dread going down to the W 19th Street gallery honestly. This may be all I get to see. :(
