"OVER PROMISED, UNDER DELIVERED, TOOK THE MONEY AND DISAPPEARED"
I contracted MA Jackson to build a sun room for me, and part of my decision to select them was Andy Jackson's promise to lay the floor if I purchased the materials. So after paying them 50% of the sun room cost up front, it took them almost 4 months before they began the work. During this period, I heard nothing from them or had any of my calls returned to provide me an update as to why it was taking so long. When they finally started the work I provided him the materials for the floor. It was then he said that he only agreed to lay a particular type of flooring, which was some cheap looking composite tiles that I hadn't even considered. As I was so happy to just have the work being completed, I chalked it up to miscommunication and paid to have someone else lay the floor. However, my biggest issue was that as soon as he finished putting up the walls he started pressuring me for the balance of the money, even as I kept pointing to issues that needed to be fixed including a leaking ceiling and door that was scraping the frame. He called me a couple of days later and assured me those issues were fixed and that if I found anything else, the workmanship and materials were all under warranty, so all I had to do was call him and they would immediately be addressed. Just as I was preparing to send him the balance we had another rain storm and the ceiling leaked again. So I called him and insisted the balance on the funds would be withheld until I observed the roof being properly addressed and the door fixed. I was at work when he called to inform me they had arrived to fix the roof and the door. While I did observe them fix the roof, they had adjusted the door before I arrived. So it was then that I provided them the balance of the money even though I was still skeptical about the door. And sure enough, my door again began to sag and scrape the frame not long after it was "fixed". Additionally, when they provided me the final documents I noticed they filled out the warranty paperwork for the building materials and dated them when they purchased the material instead of when they completed the project. So by the time they provided the form to me, the warranty registration period had expired. I've left messages with the company, and called Andy Jackson directly, but he has blocked my number and refuses to answer when I call from other numbers. Now that he has his money, he has gone through great lengths to avoid providing any post construction support. This is why contractors have bad reputations, and why you should ensure you are COMPLETELY satisfied before you pay them. read more
