Reference: 8:30 a.m. Plumbing Appointment to Install Navien NPE 240-A Tankless Water Heater…read moreDate: Friday, February 19, 2021 To: Brett/Brady, For the past several months I have been telephoning your office requesting the installation of the above referenced Navien tankless water heater for which you gave me the Bark-Ley estimate dated May 13, 2020. I have been told that someone would be returning my calls. But to my dismay, no one ever returned my telephone calls. Yesterday, February 18, 2021 at 9:03 a.m. Brady telephoned me from 256 507-0431 telling me that I was on the schedule for the installation of the Navien tankless water heater. Brady asked me if anyone had telephoned me to inform me of this appointment, to which I said, "No one had called me". At the end of this call I asked Brady at what time he would be arriving at my home, to which Brady said, "8:30". Since I had previously not heard from anyone at your office, I telephoned your office after Brady's phone to confirm that your office was aware of this appointment. Your receptionist took some time, but finally confirmed that I was on the schedule for the installation. At 12:08 p.m. I sent an e-mail to jane@barkleyplumbing.comwith questions and concerns regarding the next day's installation. The e-mail was sent since the estimate was done 11 months prior. My message was read at 12:35 p.m. the same day. I spent 4 1/2 hours yesterday, 2/18/2021, organizing, moving and making preparations for your technicians to enter my home and to remove any obstacles in the path of the installation. The following were my tasks: 1. Fill 3 - 5 gallon buckets with water in preparation of the water being turned off throughout the house; 2. Move the washing machine in the laundry room to make space for removing the clothes' dryer; 3. Disconnect the dryer natural gas line and protect the fittings; a. Disconnect the lint exhaust pipe from the back of the dryer; b. Cover the lint exhaust pipe connection to prevent cold air from entering the laundry room c. Move the dryer out of the laundry room into the kitchen In order to provide enough space to get access to the existing water heater for its removal; 4. Gather large pieces of cardboard from the basement in order to provide a covered path for carrying out the water heater since all of my hardwood floors have been refinished; a. Arrange the cardboard and tape them together along the path from the kitchen/laundry room to the front door; 5. Remove items from the laundry room counter tops; 6. Prepare the downstairs bathroom for use by the plumbing mechanics; a. Remove items for the bathroom counter tops; b. Put a roll of paper towels out for their use along with a pump soap for their hands; 7. Move the two outdoor chaise lounges from the room in the basement that would be in the path of the recirculation line to be installed; a. Move the exercise bike and the table in this same room; 8. Move the two beds in the downstairs bedroom that would be in the path of the recirculation line to be installed; 9. Make room in the garage for the installation of the tankless water heater along the east wall and along the path of the new hot water and recirculation lines; a. Put the battery into the Kubota tractor in order to move it; b. Move the tractor and some implements (box grater and fertilizer spreader) out of the path of the installation; c. Reposition the two automobiles in the garage; d. Move the plywood currently being used for another project to the pool closet; e. Take down the garden tools from the east wall to make space for the tankless water heater. I went to bed setting my alarm 7:00 a.m. to make certain that I would be able to move my two cars out of the garage before your mechanics arrived. At 7:29 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 (the morning of the scheduled appointment) Brady (256) 057-0431 again telephoned me stating that he had just read my e-mail from yesterday. Brady seemed concerned, if not frightened, by the contents of the e-mail. Brady asked me to telephone Brett at 256 339-4404 since Brett had done the estimate. Brady stated that he would not keep today's appointment until he had heard back from Brett. I telephoned Brett telling him that Brady had asked me to call in regards to my e-mail questions. Brett answered the phone and said that he would review my e-mail after he got into the office at 9:00 a.m. Brett further stated that Brady's job was the management and scheduling of work crews. I waited all day. It is now 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021. No one from your office has telephoned me. Neither Brett nor Brady has bothered to telephone me and communicate the status of my installation. While Jesus has said that we should not let our right hand know what are left hand is doing when performing deeds of charity, I don't believe that installing a tankless water heater for $4,725.00 is an act of charity, nor is it any way to run a business.
