Flavor suggestions: Our 3 tier cake was pink champagne on top, then chocolate, then white on bottom. The pink champagne was the smallest since we hadn't tested it out before but we we're interested. What's not acceptable was the attitude I received: eye rolls, scoffing, chuckling, and dismissive behavior that felt targeted and completely uncalled for. After confirming the correct name with my mom and giving it to them, they said they recognized the order and brought the cake out. But instead of completing the pickup, they left the cake sitting out and helped several other customers who came in after me, including three who also picked up cakes. They even decorated a cake in front of me while I continued to wait. No one communicated with me. I was repeatedly asked for the name on the order, even after giving the correct name multiple times. By the time I finally got the cake at 2:20 PM, it had been sitting out so long that decorations were sliding off in the heat. The box wasn't enclosed properly either, and it felt like they just didn't care. What made this especially disappointing is that it was my first time at this bakery, and I was picking up the cake for someone who has been ordering from them for years without ever having a problem. The fact that I had such a negative experience on my very first visit makes it feel personal. As an Afro-Latina, I can't ignore how racially charged the behavior felt. I came in kind, calm, and speaking the same language, but was treated with blatant disrespect. I expected better from a community-based business. Offerings focus on Mexican cookies and pastries/donuts, along with rolls for sandwiches and croissants. I had one pastry: very flaky and fresh. The bolillo rolls are PERFECT! I'd guess +/- 50% of pastries have names and fillings labeled in display case. Customers receive a plastic tray and a pair of tongs at entry, then they can wander around. Then, take the tray to the cashier who loads the items into bags and totals the bill. As far as I could tell, the staff speak very little English. Best bet if you don't speak Spanish is to wander around and be adventurous. No tables inside; strictly takeout.
