Well Guys evidently I've found THE SPOT... lol. I was driving by this place and I saw that it was packed. Cars where everywhere. I have always been curious as to what kind of business this is so I decided to stop and walk in. It was a very low key pool hall. I was already aware that there was no online presence of this business as i had searched for it and nothing came up. The pool hall was packed even though it wasn't being advertised online and I figured many of the patrons knew each other. Probably family and close friends. I pulled up close to the door and I could hear loud Blues music playing. I decided to walk in to check out there offerings and when i did the first thing i noticed was that it was a bit dim inside. There were a few tables and chairs. Some people were playing pool while others sat around talking in groups. I could see people at the front serving food and drinks. I asked the woman behind the counter if they accepted credit or debit as I wanted to order something. However, this must have been the wrong question as the older woman standing next to me gave me such an evil look. I did not get a response. I figured the music was so loud the woman behind the counter probably didn't hear me. So i then asked how much was a plate and she said "Free!". I exxpressed surprise at this answer and said 'WOW! really' in response and she appeared to suddenly become very short of patience and screamed "Its Freeee!!!" While emphatically waiving her hands. Her demeanor this time was hostile and rude. She then mumbled something about my needing to buy a beer, or maybe she was saying the plates were free if i purchased a beer. Not quite sure. However, by this time I was getting angry or annoyed stares from people standing around when all I did was ask a question. Maybe the rude behavior and evil looks was simply the way people in Canton welcomed strangers. By scowling at them and giving them evil looks. Not sure. If so it sure is a peculiar way to welcome someone. Or maybe these folk just aren't all that friendly. All. I wanted to do was patronize the business and show my support of small business but they made it apparent they were not intent on giving a good impression or growing the customer base. Again, I think most people there knew each other and they were not use to strangers visiting this Pool Hall. As it was very apparent the patrons and server didn't take too kindly to strangers. By this time a man came in and asked if I would move my car. I obliged. I was happy he gave me a excuse to leave this establishment. The people did appear to be socializing and having a very good time but again it appeared they were all longtime friends and I'm not sure someone brand new could come and enjoy themselves alone given how hostile these folk appeared to be. Probably best to bring a friend or even better.. probably best to stay away. read more

This dive joint is known simply as "The Grill" and is located on the exact edge of the city limits of Laurel, MS. Even though they are called "The Grill" they are not a restaurant and don't regularly sell food but they do sometimes have food along with a nice BBQ grill on their back patio. It is getting harder to find a classic dive bars like this and there is one bad aspect many dives share and that is some of them still allow smoking so for non-smokers like myself it is a bit hard to breathe in here with the nasty cigarette funk. They also have a limited selection of drinks with most of their beers being in cans although they serve your ice cold beer in a Koozie. The great news is the prices are cheap and the bartenders and patrons are friendly. The best thing about this joint is the awesome juke box that has a fantastic selection of music. This is a serious pool bar and they have two pool tables with cue sticks around the walls with people's names on them along with warnings not to touch their cues. Overall this is a great dive bar that really has that authentic ambiance which takes decades to build up. Not many tourists ever find this joint and many locals don't even know about this great dive bar so it is a great spot to hide away and have some fun. I mean there were a lot of people with "x's" on their hand. They were charging a $5 cover and there were not a lot of people there outside of the people at a party in a private area on the side of place. It shares a building with another bar/restaurant called the 4th and Goal Sports Cafe. They have a huge parking lot that it shares with the other businesses located in the strip mall that it is in. It is a dimly lit joint that has 2 pool tables, a bar in the back, an indoor deck above the bar that you can rent out, a huge dance floor/open space with a few tables and chairs set up around it. There is also a stage and screens with television programming projected on them. For some reason they had hockey playing on them while I was there. They had a DJ playing all the hot hits. That was the best part of the night club by far. All and all, I was not very impressed and found myself yawning and saw many people leaving after only a few minutes of coming in. I was in bed by 11. Now the good part -- the place is filled with great quality stogies at comparable prices. I would actually say that they are not overpriced from what I have shopped at previously. Brand names include Gurkha, Rocky Patel, CAO, Davidoff, Nubs, Oliva, Fuentes, Romeo and Julieta, Drew Estates -- too many to list but for sure something for everybody. I'm always surprised when my bill comes and think "I thought it would be so much higher".
