New Park Garage came up in a google search and were very understanding and professional about the situation when I phoned them prior to arrival. Upon arrival at the garage, I found the staff to be very friendly and the garage to be busy, clean and well equiped. The staff listened to what I had to say about the fault on my car and promised to sort it asap. Friday 17th, phone call during the morning informing me that it was an inexpensive job which would cost me approximately £50 and would be ready in an hour. All in all a very positive experience. They did once incorrectly fit something - nothing dangerous but more of an inconvenience, but they were more than happy to fit me straight in to sort it and never quibbled it or anything and certainly did not try to charge again. They will not find things wrong with your car for the sake of it but are completely thorough. I trust them to always carry out the best work at the best price and recomend them to all my friends - many of who use them time and time again now.

I was lucky that the incident happened not a block from Halfords, so we limped in there with no appointment, not even a call ahead -- just rolled in with a flat tyre, and they were able to take the car right away. They had to get the right kind of tyre from somewhere else, but that turned out to be only a 20-minute wait. I don't know how auto repair usually goes in the UK, but in the US, even a tyre change could've required hours of waiting. The mechanics were all nice people, too. I was feeling deeply embarrassed and discouraged, as an American who hadn't yet worked out how to drive on the left, but everyone I spoke with was cheerful and helpful, as if they actually enjoy working there, and no one tut-tutted at the damage or gave me any hint of an attitude; it may sound like a small thing, but being treated with friendly respect when I was feeling like a foreign idiot meant a lot to me -- their cheerfulness and professionalism helped to steady my nerves so I was able to face driving again once the car was repaired. And the efficiency meant we were back on the road in under an hour. Fortunately, I quickly got much better at driving on the left, so there were no more incidents, but if there had been any need for more repairs, I would've wanted to come to Halfords.

I popped around to Kwik Fit and they said if I could leave it they would take a look. They called me later and said they could not see anything and my tyre was fine. I went to collect my car which they left on the lift so we could all take a look and sure enough whatever had been there was now gone and there was no leak. I had feared I would need a new tire and was so pleased I had the good fortune to take my car to this Kwik Fit location. The staff were friendly, professional and trustworthy. Long story short - this garage tried to charge me almost £600 for work that was simply not…read morerequired. I booked my car in as I knew it needed new brake pads. After an inspection, I was told it also needed a replacement calliper and full brake fluid change. I was dubious and got a second opinion. The honest mechanic I took it to checked it over, and after two hours of poking prodding pulling etc, found absolutely nothing wrong with the calliper at all, I needed new brake pads, as I thought. There was also no requirement whatsoever for a full brake fluid change. My brakes were fixed for £75 (brand new parts) Thing is, if I had have trusted them and paid up, I would never have known any different. Since telling others about my experience I've discovered that other things have also gone on - such as damaging a lady's car during a routine service, and then when it broke down after just after leaving the garage, they passed it off as a coincidence and refused to take the blame. Don't use this garage. I've reported them to trading standards. Shocking.
