Fortunately I was able to drive back into Canon City where I called AAA for a tow back to Buena Vista, even though I was unsure of a place to take my car there. FORTUNATELY I was directed to Reliance Motor Works. They were extremely busy, but told me they would try to take a look at my car that day and we would go from there. The owner Micah asked Mia, the office manager, to drive my friend and I back to our house, as they needed to keep the car for the day. Mia called me later that afternoon and told me they had to order some parts and they should come in the following day. They DID; and early that afternoon, she text me and told me my car was ready. AND, I didn't owe anything because they were able to go through NAPA and all was covered under that warranty. The car did GREAT the rest of the time while I was in Colorado! The day before I was to return back to Texas, I stopped over to the shop and asked Micah if they could look at the fluids and make sure all was still OK. Again, they were extremely busy that day, but he took the time, right then and there, to check my car out again, to ensure I would get home safely. And, I did! I am so impressed with the customer service, friendliness, understanding of the customer's concerns, promptness of repairs, and quality of work at this automotive shop. I cannot express enough, the relief and thankfulness I have in finding and using this shop. Turns out all they had to do was simply fill up my transmission fluid which would have only cost around $100, thankful for John at MJ auto because he does honest, good work and helped me out when I needed it. At Reliance, they changed the oil on my friend's truck and when they gave her the truck back, it wouldn't even start! Said they couldn't do anything about it. The starter first showed signs of trouble in Orem, UT. By the time we got to Grand Junction, CO we knew we had a problem. As we reached Denver, we got a referal for Urabus and gave John a call. He was on the road, but immediately happy to help and directed us to his brother Jeremy. I dropped in on Jeremy that morning and had a great visit. He assured me that if I brought Bianca in the next morning, they'd hook me up with a sweet TDI starter using a Rocky Moutain Westy / VanCafe adapter plate and have me back on the road by the end of the day. Sure enough, the next day Bianca was back in action. I spent far too much of the guys' time before paying and being on my way. We had a tour of the shop, got a tutorial on failed starters and talked about VWs, the VW community and vanlife in general. I honestly felt like I was hanging with friends--how often do you say that about your mechanic? That day was really a game changer for us. Any residual nervousness faded away and we were able to simply enjoy the trip--and revel in the new high torque starter--and the great service we received. I recently came up to Twin Lakes, Colorado and as someone who is new to the state, I checked the weather and saw sunshine... only to be surprised by snow on day one. My car was definitely not snow ready so I found myself in a situation that felt a little scary. I called and spoke with Julie. She went so far above and beyond that I was honestly blown away. She even stepped outside to physically look at the snow line since she could see it from where she was, just to make sure she gave me the most accurate information. She took the time to explain my options, made sure I felt safe, and told me I could check back in with her on Sunday if needed. In the end, I did not even need to hire them because the weather cleared up. And that is exactly why I am writing this review. The fact that I am leaving a review without ever needing service speaks volumes about the level of care and integrity here. Julie made me feel genuinely taken care of during a stressful moment, and as someone who just moved to Colorado, that meant a lot to me. I am so grateful that companies like this still exist.
