Absolutely terrible company to deal with. We purchased a new Wood burning fireplace, one of their…read moremost expensive, for our home and when they did the site visit, they did not measure correctly which we did not know until months later and construction had proceeded to the point of no return. When the unit arrived, they could not run the chimney under a beam that was always existing and known. It was also, apparently, on the drawing and despite them being a dealer for Regency they had zero understanding of how to install or the requirements for the fireplace. Long story short, I had to figure out the solution and did get it to fit, but Dave threw a grown man tantrum and decided to breach the install contract. In the end, he screwed up, refused to take 2 hours to come to our site and work out some details with the other contractors who were helping to fix their mistake, refused to accept responsibility for his mistake and then refused to refund money for equipment (chimney) that he did not supply. We are currently taking legal action because he will not provide the refund for the chimney despite the emails we have where, he offered to. It is ok because we have actually spent over $50,000 on additional HVAC, fireplaces and other contracts with their competitor Northern Energy Systems, who are real professionals, because they did not want to try to help get the job done. The new company we hired (to complete the installation of the fireplace they couldnt figure out how to install) thru Home Hardware in North Bay, were excellent and were able to solve the Chimney issue with very little extra effort. Dave's Heating just simply took zero time and effort to try and resolve the issue other than offering a refund...which they eventually did not follow thru with and ended up ripping us off $3k. I was also happy to spend extra money on construction changes to make the fireplace work. It boiled down to this entire conflict occurring because Dave would not come to the site, AT MY COST, to meet with the general contractor, to come up with a solution. Dave is a sad excuse for a business owner and an arrogant and selfish human being. I am sure the good reviews are for regular smooth contracts, but be warned, if things do not go his way or there is some situation where they make a mistake, they will rip you off and look out for themselves. I try to give out contracts to local companies being from the North, but this company belongs in the big city. We highly recommend Northern Energy Systems in Mattawa and North Bay Home Hardware instead of this company.

He called a little after noon said he would grab lunch and be right over. He quickly diagnosed the main problem and pointed put a couple things I had not noticed. He said he could right then or we could schedule for another time. I let him jump into it and left him alone to work. He finished it all up and gave me the bill. I didn't want to turn anything back on unless it was safe. I called around various places but many were booked or couldn't guarantee service with a minimum $195 troubleshooting fee. They called me back right away. Despite having everyone scheduled out, hearing I had lost my heat with the safety concerns over melted electrical, they agreed to come out today to help me. Aaron was very courteous, responsive, and professional. He came prepared with a spare thermostat, even though I had already purchased one. His work was professional and he made sure things were installed level. The price for the same day service was very reasonable. $99 service entrance fee + repair time. Would highly recommend this company! They look out for their community and were very kind to fit me in under the circumstances on dhort notice. Very grateful to them today! The technician spent 1.5 hours (by his own admission), but billed for 2.25 hours because (the fine print on the invoice revealed) we were charged for his travel time from his previous job to our location. We were also charged a dispatch fee. Neither the dispatch fee nor the travel charge were disclosed when we booked the appointment. This resulted in about $167.00 padding on an already hefty bill. The client, my mother, is a frail senior on a fixed income. Bilking seniors is not a good look, A-1. Oh, and showing up to a job drenched in cologne (I believe it was patchouli, to which both my mother and I are allergic) is decidedly unprofessional.
