But as we sat and ate our dinner, I watched three other families come in with no reservations and sat them immediately wherever they wanted.. The only difference between us and them was we were American. So we thanked the girls paid our bill and tipped them 20% for their service.. The most delicious thing I've had so far in Germany is the roasted pork knuckle. I had it yesterday and had to have it again today. The pork meat is so flavorful and the skin is cooked to a crisp, mouthwatering crunch. The pork knuckle is pretty big and probably can be shared between two people, but I'm a fata*s and can gobble that whole thing up by myself. The dish comes with sauerkraut and two potato dumplings. The potato dumplings were also delicious and goes well with the sauerkraut. If you've never had pork knuckles, now's the time to try it. I haven't quite seen these back in the States before.

Service was excellent, and the owners spoke German, Italian, English (and probably more languages given the region's proximity to multiple countries). He argued with me when I said that the "roast beef" on the menu was just a hard steak and I wanted a soft roast beef as it was mentioned on the menu. So when I said that he went off on me saying that "yes, it is a steak indeed but locally it is called a roast beef." My point is that the waiter should have explained that the "roast beef" on the menu is just a steak and not a roast beef when I was ordering. Instead I got yelled at... The whole fried fish was alright. The duck was also alright. Their beef broth soup with dumplings was amazing, the cheese dumplings are not cheese dumplings but meatballs with some cheese inside. I wasn't told it as well but I was pleasantly surprised. Their flat cheese pancakes were delicious too. We spent over 200 Euros for four people. I cannot say we enjoyed the experience...
