Ayesha is one of the best you will ever get in this profession and here's why. I set out to take a 55 year old colonial style home and convert it into the most contemporary design possible. As the architect Ayesha helped all the way from complete demolition to rebuild adding an additional 1300 sqft. She guided us from planning to design to interior design to crisis management with the city post construction. Here are some attributes that make her absolutely the best to work with 1. Knowledge & Training - Unlike the many 'self taught' designers my wife and I interviewed, Ayesha has both a 4-yr Bachelors in architecture from a top university in Pakistan as well as a masters in Interior design from CSU. So she understands every single nuance of construction. She gave us critical advice on what to expect at each stage and how long it would take. 2. Patience & Perseverance - In a massive project like this no matter how well you plan things always go wrong and out of control. We had one very major situation and 2 minor ones. In each of the cases Ayesha took charge and coordinated between the structural designer, contractor and soil engineer and the city planners to come to a very quick resolution and workaround. She saved us from potentially huge costs due to delays. 3. Dealing with the City - We had an especially rough time with a city planner who seemed to just not like anything we did. There were many tense moments and Ayesha would directly handle all conversations and be present in the city office as many times as needed so that we did not have to worry. 4. She pushes back - I hate folks who say yes to everything. Ayesha would push back hard but in a polite way on some of my choices which she believed is not in my best interest. There are many examples in our case where her insistence really kept us from making design decisions I would have regretted. She takes her work very personally which shows in the outcome. 5. Eye for Design - She has a very good eye for design. Everything from 4" diamond recessed LED lights to many other interior design decisions have come out extremely well. Was introduced to MA Dimensions through our real estate broker in 2014. In the process of remodeling a house in Los Altos, City Planning required a lighting diagram and other basic plans our general contractor could not easily provide. For a very reasonable fee, MA Dimension's principal Ayesha Sikandar turned these in a day or two, and also gave us a couple of design pointers pro bono. The City of Los Altos planner commented on the high quality and detail of MA Dimensions' work, allowing the overall project to be completed on time and on budget. We were so impressed with Ayesha and her team that we re-engaged with MA Dimensions on a much more ambitious project in 2016 - a complete remodel and update of a mid-century modern ranch house in Cupertino. With three stakeholders involved with this remodel, project objectives changed and evolved over time. Rather than nickel and diming us on change orders, Ayesha was extremely patient throughout the ideation process, developing several concepts, and then modifying the selected one until we had consensus. The final design required changes to the "bones" of the house, requiring the services of an engineering firm. Ayesha interfaced as well with an arrogant structural engineer, as she did with our general contractor and numerous building suppliers. She also turned us onto a number of smaller vendors who offered great value - decent quality and reasonable prices. Her specifications for finish materials, e.g. tile, flooring, paint and wallpaper were on point. Once complete, the remodeled home received rave reviews from neighbors and real estate professionals alike. We did remodeling of 3 of our bathrooms a year ago and Ayesha was the one that made it happen. Overall, I'm very happy with how all the bathrooms turned out. Ayesha was pretty flexible and came pretty close to our budget when we told her that we were pretty specific about which bathrooms we wanted to spend more money on. She was very accommodating with our needs and understood our taste. She was timely (always showed up on time), and her designs were very tasteful. We took our 2000 sqft house to the studs, removed walls, moved the kitchen, installed an elevator, moved the stairs, connected a detached garage and added a second floor to it, and many, many other changes, adding about 1300 sqft to the floor plan. Because of the extent of our project, the requirements of our HOA, and the requirements of the city where we live, getting the project to construction required a numerous reviews and revisions before the plans were finalized. Ayesha guided us through the whole process and was very responsive to our requests. She developed a number of solutions that we are very happy with. Overall, we really enjoyed working with her. We also used the structural engineer and soil engineer she recommended, and they were both great, which removed a lot of stress from the process.
