1/2 Review of My Love/Hate Relationship with MAC.BID MAC.BID is the reason I now own a shop vac, a mystery box of cables that may or may not power a spaceship, a patio heater that looks like it belongs at a Vegas pool party, and a box of 50 plastic popcorn cups... because obviously every household needs that. Did I need these things? No. Did I win them at 1:07 AM because "it was a steal"? Absolutely. I've also received a mirror instead of a clock once, and another time a broken clock that was supposed to be "like new" but at least it was indeed a clock. Sometimes the items arrive with a slightly different interpretation of "like new"... as in "newly broken." Also important to know: everything is sold AS IS. No returns... unless you pay the extra $7 Buyer's Assurance, which is basically insurance for your questionable late-night bidding decisions. Honestly, not the worst idea. Picking up items is an adventure of its own. Imagine wandering through a giant warehouse treasure hunt looking for a theater number that may or may not exist. It's part scavenger hunt, part mild cardio, part emotional roller coaster. Sometimes you score a fantastic, high-quality item for dirt cheap and feel like a financial genius. Other times... well... you bring home something that makes you question your life choices. Parking can be packed, pickup hours could definitely be better (since most of us need actual jobs to fund these late-night bidding decisions), but the staff is always nice and helpful. With the membership you can hold items for a few days, which is great because sometimes you win things you forgot you even bid on. The thrill of bidding is unmatched. One minute you're casually browsing, the next you're in a silent psychological war with someone named DesertDad1978 over a box labeled "assorted household items." Do I tell myself every time that this is the absolute last time I'm bidding? Yes. Do I log back in the next night? Also yes. Honestly, it's kind of a fun activity for the whole family -- like a chaotic little treasure hunt where the prize might be amazing... or a haunted blender with no lid. Would I recommend it? Yes. I feel bad giving this review so low because there are some great staff members here, this is solely based on the new manager JOHN and fight encounter with him. So.... I've been buying from Mac.Bids for over a year, spending well over $20,000 alongside my partner. While you can find great deals, the customer service has taken a massive step backward with the new management. Anyone who frequents this location knows the pickup line near 6:00 PM closing often stretches toward the back. Normally, I grab items while waiting for the line to clear to keep things moving. Today at 6:03 PM, while a massive line was still waiting, a new manager named John treated me with outright disrespect. He literally started counting down from five like I was a child and threatened to delete my account. When I pointed out the line and noted that I wasn't holding up closing, the hostility only continued. The previous manager did an incredible job turning this location around, but having someone this unprofessional and confrontational in charge of "customer service" is unacceptable. This comes on top of ongoing policy frustrations: as a premium member, pickup extensions are supposed to apply, yet I've already lost paid merchandise because items expired over Labor Day when the facility wasn't even open. I had hoped to resolve that at pickup, but based on this new manager's behavior, customer support here is dead in the water. Upper management should promote one of the dedicated internal staff who have been great with customers instead of bringing in people who treat high-volume, loyal customers like an inconvenience. read more

It's ok. Everyone there is nice and helpful. It's hot in there so you don't want to stay long. You order auction items off the app and then go to the warehouse to pick them up. It's like a scavenger hunt. You find the location of your items on the app and then you're off on the hunt. Don't forget to check your items before you leave to make sure nothing is broken, otherwise you won't be able to return them unless you paid for the insurance. read more

Tricky little devils. I have a complicated relationship with them. They Can be hit and miss. Like new products are sometimes hardly like new. Several times now I have won an item and got something completely different.... Like men's shorts instead of a sundress. Most recently I won a men's hoodie (pictured) but instead got a Hanes plain heather charcoal sweat shirt. Not a hoodie. But the stars are for the nice ladies working up front not Mac. read more

This place is the biggest joke in the world. The GM I would not give him a job if I had to. No communication skills at all. Lies to the employees about what is going on at the job site. Was always better without him there. They also want you to sell you broken stuff and stuff that is missing parts. They hope that you would pay for a one dollar item and not look at the fees that they charge. They fired all of the A line Scanners for no reason given. And still do not know when there last day is. Or what there severance package is. Being told it might be tomorrow for their last day. I would not buy anything from here again if I had to. Drove up on a Saturday afternoon. Parking is in the back of the building and there are two doors. There is an entrance and exit. You check in at the entrance and then they direct you to what area your item is at. Mine item was all the way in the back aisle Q. Once I found my item I put it on the cart and checked out. Everything was easy and seems like a lot of people are here doing resell items. A lady had a large bid full of items. My piece of advice is check your items. I picked up a washer/dryer countertop. It was missing items, screws, and wood was damaged. I knew $28 was too good to be true for a $105. countertop. I will try again and glad I bought the $7 insurance so I can return the item. read more

Out of the 5 items I purchased, one was miss-boxed, another was missing over half of the parts and is inoperable. The amount you bid is not the amount you end up paying. The fees (buyers, lot and taxes) nearly double the price. You can't return an item unless you buy buyer's assurance. THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!! I won an item at auction. Took it home (hour drive) only to find out the item is nothing even similar to the item listed in the auction. I live an hour away so it took me 2 days to return to the store to try and get the correct item! I was told "You didn't buy the buyers insurance so we can't even try to help you. You left the property without opening the box". At no point was I told to open the box before leaving the store, make sure you have the right product, or anything to help avoid this situation! I am tired of getting broken merchandise, incomplete merchandise, and or received in accurate stuff. I went through4 instapots to get one that works I bought leaf blower that had no batteries. I bought a rest bedding sheet and it was a cheap sheet probably from Walmart. You should ck your merchandise more carefully. I am so tired of this. I am writing to express my absolute disgust with the complete lack of quality control and transparency regarding your "open box" inventory. Yesterday, I purchased three open-box items. Two of them were completely different products than what was advertised on the box and receipt. Item 1 (Serta Mattress Topper): Advertised and labeled as a King (75"x79 inches). Upon opening it at home, the actual item inside was a Full ("53x74 inches). A discrepancy of that size is entirely unacceptable.Item 2 (Dog Seat Cover): The packaging displayed a dog seat cover, including a grainy, low-resolution photo supposedly verifying the contents. In reality, the item inside was a small dog travel bag.I understand that "open box" items may have minor cosmetic imperfections or missing hardware, but selling entirely different, lower-value items under a premium label crosses the line from a clearance sale into outright fraud. Your staff is clearly taping up blind customer returns and putting them back on the shelf without verifying the contents.You have lost a loyal customer, and until your management implements basic inventory verification protocols, I will be advising others to take their business elsewhere. read more

Freaking worst company ever I am trying to delete my account. I have never ordered anything. It is taken two weeks before customer service contacts me and tells me to open the app and go to my profile and down the bottom it says delete account. I replied back to the email and say that I do not have the app and when I go into my profile, there is no place to delete my account. I have not heard from them. It is now going on three weeks. Be Aware ... Mac.Bid can have some very good deals, but you can also get some very BAD DEALS and lose a lot of money. They will not refund you, well maybe if you buy the "ASSURANCE" an extra charge, minimum of $7 plus. Otherwise, it is a flat NO, that's the policy. I was literally told, by the Customer Service Agent, that when purchasing an item. Mac.Bid has no idea what is actually in the box. They trust what it reads on the scan and advertise as such, it says "Lift Chair" could be a "Feather Pillow". You paid $260 plus the $3 fee and 15% of $260. For just slightly over $300 for what you thought was a lift chair, with vibration, heat, massage, speakers, cup holders. Faux black leather. A lift chair heavy heavy item. Well, what actually happened was I put it on a HOLD. The HOLD did not go through apparently, as they said I didn't pick it up in time so I lost $85. Which was the restocking fee. Turns out the chair was still in the warehouse in the same spot, no one had moved it. After much debate with the local CS Team a manager intervened. I said I would purchase the chair now at the sell price which was just a few dollars more than my original price. My request was that I get my $85 back as I am still picking up the chair. They had changed the Hold process, it didn't explain it when I put it on Hold. When I was shown the new process, even the girl showing me agreed the places needed to check off were so faint they may be missed. The process has now been changed again and basically the same as it was originally. I still have not received my $85 and was told I will not. Back to the chair that we did receive. We were not familiar with "ASSURANCE" at the time. The manager briefly said to us " Assurance is $9" I think my response was "oh" I had no idea what that did, I wish he would have explained. Still he moved the box onto our cart, then opened the box to see that it was in good condition. Everything was vacuum sealed in plastic. This appeared to brand new with everything there. What could be wrong. We did have him open a little slit on one of the packages, so we could feel the faux leather. Oops, this is NOT FAUX LEATHER this is fabric. Of a dark gray color. Well our brother really needs a lift chair. Fabric isn't the best but it will have to be ok, the price is great. Off we go, We didn't have issues at least not as much as expected moving it into my brother's place. Then we opened the box and I began to assemble it. It wasn't easy, but not too difficult, it wasn't just loud the back in, you put the entire chair together. As I was doing it, it just seemed cheap, or as if you were a big heavy person (as my brother) this chair is going to fall apart instantly, like the back will fly off and arms will go too. Then I said wait there isn't any mechanism to this at all, no speakers, no lift, no heat, no vibration, no cup holders. It's a cheap recliner that could have been $150 in a cheap furniture, that's all it is worth. Called the number I was given by the manager if we had any problems at all, he said to give them his name.. I guess that was to appease us for the time as it did nothing. That's when I learned all about ASSURANCE and that they don't know and do t care what is in the boxes. It is a gamble. My advice, if you are spending more than you would want to lose, buy the ASSURANCE. You will lose what you paid for the ASSURANCE, but nothing else. Where do I begin? First, items are usually dirty, missing pieces or broken. Yes, you can get items marked down from the original price but unlike Nellis Auction, it's very difficult to get returns here. The items are sold as is, which to be fair, is listed on the app. You get what you pay for. In addition though, I had an item go missing and had to pay $10 to extend the day I could pick it up because THEY lost the item, but guess who had to cover that $10? Me. Workers are great and so helpful when shopping and offered to help me load and unload my things into my vehicle as well as went and found me a cart from the lot when it was busy! They misrepresented items as 'like new' and sold me broken unusable items that I am now stuck with. This is illegal.

PROS: "Like New" is often just that, and it is the only category I bid on now. Usually can get items for less than 50% of retail. CONS: "Open Box" is always missing parts or damaged beyond repair, if you bid on this category pay for buyers protection! Some of the employees seem to have missed the customer service training :( ALWAYS: Open your items and check them BEFORE you check out. The tables up front near customer service have outlets for checking electrical items. SUMMARY: You "can" get some great deals, but you have be very careful buying here. read more

This place does not have the best stuff. Everything we have bought has been disappointing as far as quality and function. The fees make it not worth it as well. You are much better off heading south to an awesome spot called Big Savings Outlet to get this type of stuff because it is shelved and you get way better prices and the owners are so nice. This place isn't straight forward at all. Here is what you need to know... 1. It's like a week to bid for each item. 2. They charge you an additional fee for each item. (Right now it's $3.00) I paid more in fees than the actual items. 3. You can't pick up until after 12pm. Unless you want to pay $9.99/month, which is the cheapest membership I think. I spoke to some of the staff and even hear in passing conversations between aisles that new management has taken over and constant firings of new and old employees. Now I've watched people leave reviews about this place... How dense can some people be? Mac.Bids is an AUCTION HOUSE, not a discount store. They sell store returns, damaged and over stocked items to the highest bidder. So if your looking for BRAND NEW, then this is not your place. They DO NOT charge additional fees unless you request it. Nobody seems to read the RULES of the auction. Every auction house is a little different, but this one is a really good place to bid at because they offer so much. the people who complain never read that the can go and inspect the items before they purchase anything. YES they offer that service READ their instructions. I have found them to be very creditable and up front with their business practices. Their service representatives are friendly and very helpful. Never have I had an issue with this place but then again never have i walked in with a bad attitude towards the employees. Please people, read what's expected of you and what requirements you must meet.
