The reasons I adore Mac are because I love all their brushes, ALL of them. I have multiples of all their brushes. I love their Contour stick- it's the difference between heaven and "h311 no". First apply the contour stick to your cheek bones- not like Rouge, which goes on your cheeks in an upward motion toward your forehead and/or ears. Apply the contour also to your forehead on the two sides of it- just a sumimple, easy-handed that should be no longer than this: ____ on each side of the near end of your forehead, do the exact same to your chin- nnear your ear, but not too near, on each side. Then, you are able to use eitger oowder (compact) or your wet concealer. You need to make sure you blend the contour rather quickly after the Contour is on since it dries fast. Take a makeup right triangular pad and push to the sides of where you applied it- it will shine through no matter what. Once you have blended, make sure you use concealer ( doesn't look cakey). My opinion, but of course you may use compact. Use the big size paint brush to make sure you blend in your chin, nose, forehead, cheeks and even neck. Then use the medium or large sized feather brush, in circles around your entire fqce- looks picture perfect so far. Appky blush/ rouge to your cheeks, pretty heavily at night and blend a lip gloss and up to two different blush colors. With a dry hand push gently on the blush towards your upper face. Never ever brush any makeup down - pwe aren't getting any younger. After that, do any adjusting, such as if you rather use a brush to apply your eyebrows, especially if you have had Micro-Blading that was dark and thick and beautiful for the first year, use with a tiny tip brush or Q-Tip to get rid of your brows. Wait 10 minutes in between re-applying because it must dry before you do your second and third coat. Apply your eyebrows with a non-slanted brush for best results. Then, do what you like as far as color and thickness. Apply a popping pibk or red depending on your features, at night or a very pretty but light shade of your choosing. Apply eyeliner, but prior you may want to use an eyelash curler twice per eye, then eyeliner and if you are artistic with makeup or going to a rave, draw with a thick bright colored shadow stick- use it to emphasize color either on your top or bottom eyes or both. If you want, you can use the style stay spray- I don't, but I have it. studio fix is excellent and don't forget the sparkles that they sell to your chest and around. read more

Lets face it. When it comes to special ocassions where my make up and hair need to be on fleek, you best believe Chel leaves it up to the experts. I am hopeless when getting all done up for these special ocassions. I typically use bare minerals for my simple make up needs - lip gloss, eyeliner, browliner- because it's natural base is minerals. But I've also recently ventured out to MAC since I discovered an eye shadow color palate I really liked. A few weeks using it, I was quite pleased. So when I was invited to attend an black and white event, I gave MAC a shot to do my make up. Sam was my make up artist. She was so accomodating and professional. She explained everything she was doing and she was definitely efficient! I loved how everything turned out at the end and I wouldn't hesitate asking for her again! I now use their browliner, mascara, aside from their eye shadow palette. I also liked their lip gloss selection. SO, WHILE STANDING AROUND Looking at the artists working on their canvases I received ANGRY STARES & NOT TO MENTION, NO HELP!!! I glanced over once in a while to see how their work turned out on some chicks face who was getting ready for Prom. and the artists just looks at me and doggs me.. i don't know how to put that in more appropriate terms... as ghetto as that sounds but, THAT WAS exactly how she looked at me and the other waiting customers! it;s like okay girly your work aint that glamourous! AND im not gonna go home and jock ur style!!!!! even if i tried im sure i could have done a better job! ONE GIRL WALKED RIGHT PAST ME AND WENT ON TO ASSIST ANOTHER FEMALE.. WTH? On Thursday March 24 I called to schedule an appt for Saturday the 26th at 3 pm. It was awesome that they were able to fit me in even though i called a couple days before. I was helped by Hope. She did such an amazing job on my make up. I definitely would get my make up done with Hope again. She was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. On a regular basis I only wear foundation and eye liner. I don't like shimmer on my eye shadow and glossy lipstick. She asked me if she could add a little shimmer and i gave in. She was definitely right. The shimmer totally made my eyes look amazing. Wanted a matte lipstick but instead she recommend a satin color. I ended up buying the lip pencil called Soar and the lip stick called Brave thanks to her having me try something new. read more

Awful customer service. I have never had my makeup done by MAC, much less used MAC products before, so this would have been a first for me. I was looking forward to MAC's studio makeup since I was going to be in a wedding and lots of pictures. I called Thursday to get the earliest makeup appointment on Sunday morning since the wedding was on Sunday afternoon. I was told the earliest appointment on Sunday was at 11 a.m., which is when Macy's opens, so I made the reservation. Sunday Morning, I get there at 10:50 and go to Cosmetics. There are 2 ladies working there; I approach the desk and tell one of them I have an appointment. She asks my name, and looks on her booking list, then tells me I do not have an appointment. I told her I made the appointment Thursday and she says they only have an appointment for a "Diana". Then they ask the makeup-less girl behind me "Are you Diana?" Yes, she is. So she turns to me, and says: "I'm the only makeup artist here right now so there's no one else to do your makeup at 11 a.m. and Diana has that reservation." No apologies, no alternative suggestions. I went to mac and she let me know she had an appt coming in 30 mins. I'm not sure what I missed on a full sitting but I was very happy with what she did in our alloted time. Knowledge of products: yup, took seconds for the lady to recommend a color that best fit me. Location: a bit small, Costa Mesa mall one much bigger. Though too far for me. I'm not the type to complain but the service I recieved today was so terrible that I felt the need to vent. So I walk in, browse a bit and the only associate there doesn't ackowledge me or anything, I'm like ok no big deal so then I say "excuse me" and she doesn't look up from whatever she is doing and says "mm hmm" So I ask... "do you have any of the holiday face kits here?" She tells me "I dont know what that is" So I tell her "it's on the website but they're sold out, do you have them here?" She tells me its probably a Nordstrom special only" And I'm like "um no, its on the MAC website" and all this while she is completely stone faced with attitude in her tone of voice and tells me "sorry don't know what it is" Needless to say, I left without purchasing anything. If she had been a little nicer, I would have bought other items that I liked from the holiday collection but her sh***y attitude ruined my shoppiing experience today. Came in on a Wednesday to buy a powder I ran out of. I love MAC but I'm so disappointed that I got what looks like to be a used compact powder. Usually the powders come with a plastic cover that separates the powder from the compact cushion. I thought well maybe they don't put them in anymore but then I recognized some of the powder along the edge of the pan and finger prints on the mirror. And the way I opened the compact, there was no way they were mine. I'm hoping to return soon and exchange it. read more

I took my youngest daughter whom I 15 years old to get her make up done for Winter Formal. Originally I was hesitant to take her to have her make up done at MAC as I prefer Benefit cosmetics myself and quite frankly when I have seen make up done at MAC women look overly made up. But since she is a heathen child and I value my life I caved in and made her an appointment. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised that there was no one else getting there make up done. The make up artist that did her make up was Jerry and I have to say he did an amazing job! He asked what the occasion was and how she wanted to do her make up, her choice was to do an exaggerated eye because of the dance theme was "Viva Las Vegas". Upon looking at the picture Jerry told her that this look would be too harsh for her and offered his suggestion. He ended up doing a nice smokey eye that was actually quite natural looking! Now I normally would never recommend going to Mac to have your make up done but if you must do so make sure to ask for Jerry he is amazing!! read more

This review is more for Maria the makeup artist than for the actual store. I got my make up done for my bridal shower. I went for a more bold look than I usually do, even for events. I showed her a picture of smokey eyes with a shimmer lid and she just took it from there. She's the type of artist that just needs an idea of what you want but because she's a professional (has been working with MAC for 13 years) she adds her own touch! The eyes turned out perfect, she even started contouring which concerned me at first but because she was so pro I just knew it looked great! She even defined my eyebrows which I let no one touch but she did it so well that I'm contemplating doing them like this all time. She's also very friendly and wants to get to know you. Went to MAC counter inside Macys in Puente Hills. Came in with my mother to trade back to Mac for a lipstick. No one bothered to ask if we needed help nor gave either of us assistance. Tried on a lipstick, no one bothered to help with color or anything. Went to purchase at register but cashier served customer behind us even though we were clearly in line. Went with correct back to Mac products to trade but still wouldn't trade for lipstick. Didn't bother to even purchase. HORRIBLE. read more

5 stars. I've been coming here since I was 16. I'm 25 now, almost every single girl that works here has been amazing. Minus one a few years back, she was just rude that's all.. could have been a bad day? Got my makeup done here a few times too, they nail the dramatic look but once I came in to get my makeup done &I wanted a "natural" look but damn not that natural. I left looking like I had nothing on my face. But the girl who did it was soo sweet so I didn't really care lol. Anyways, I came here the other day in the morning and I don't remember the girls name who helped me:( but she was thin & super cute. I was looking for a lipstick for my aunt and she chose the most beautiful shade for me & my aunt loved it. While I was there I tried on this gorgeous highlighter that I didn't end up buying in the store but then when I got home everyone told me I was glowing! So I decided to buy it online and at the time I didn't even know wth I tried on so I sat there for like an hour trying to figure out what was put on my face that day...Then I decided to just call the store & explain what happened & the girl that picked up was the same girl that helped me that day & she told me which one it was. MOST of the employees are RUDE and PUSHY. Except for one girl, I wish I had asked for her name but she is very skinny and pale(in a good way). She was the only person there that actually helped me out and she was SO SWEET. The other employees act like they're so much better than you because they work there..your job is to HELP US. I kept swatching foundations on my hand and this chubby girl looked mad at what I was doing and kept asking ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT NEED HELP? All the employees(except for the one skinny one I mentioned) always look so irritated and cocky. I moved a couple of months ago to la puente from Pasadena. My "to go to" Mac was the one at the Santa Anita mall at the Nordstroms because the girls there are always friendly...but I didn't want to drive all the way there since I live 12 minutes away from puente hills mall, so I decided to go to this Mac. My first experience was good. I think the girls here are super friendly. Every time I go I always get greeted and ask if I need help with anything. I tried the one in Covina but those girls are ALWAYS bitchy so this for now on, with the great customer service, this is my To go to Mac store. read more
