I'm disappointed with how this booking & communicated was handled. I booked a makeup appointment…read moretwo weeks in advance and sent a $145 deposit, then needed to cancel less than 24 hours after booking. Before or after sending payment, I was never told the deposit was nonrefundable. I did not sign a contract, receive a cancellation policy, or book through a website where those terms were disclosed. When I asked if the deposit could be returned, I was told that she does not return deposits. I understand businesses can have cancellation policies, but I believe a nonrefundable deposit policy should be clearly communicated before payment is accepted. I explained that I was never made aware of that policy beforehand and asked if there could be any flexibility since I canceled so quickly and the appointment was still about two weeks away. I have not received a response. Instead multiple texts ignored. My issue is not that a business has rules around deposits. My issue is being held to a policy that was never disclosed to me before I paid. Clear communication and transparency around deposits should happen if a client sends money. If it's before or after details should be enclosed. That way no one waste time asking for something they already were disclosed! JUST TO CLARIFY: The $145 deposit was paid on August 12th and the photoshoot was scheduled for August 26th. That is two weeks, not one week. I have the photographer's booking information confirming the date. At this point, what concerns me even more is being given information that does not match the actual booking details. If a business is going to enforce a nonrefundable policy, I believe the facts surrounding the booking should at least be represented accurately. You also got two texts, not multiple. A professional company owner would reply back, not ignore and reply on yelp lying about dates. I'd also like to add that the reason I chose to leave this review is because instead of trying to resolve the issue with me as a customer, my messages were ultimately ignored. I was never told from the beginning that the $145 deposit was nonrefundable, and no written policy, agreement, or booking terms stating that were ever provided to me before I paid. If your business is centered around making women feel comfortable and beautiful, especially pregnant women and brides, I think professionalism, honesty, and communication should be a major part of that experience. Being difficult over an undisclosed policy and then choosing not to communicate further left a very negative impression. For anyone considering booking, I would strongly recommend getting every deposit, cancellation, and refund policy clearly in writing beforehand. The lack of transparency professionalism, honesty and communication are what concerned me most about this experience. I've never met a business owner who keeps your money and is dishonest about all details. Do what's right if you truly cared about your business and future client's.

Regarding scheduling, she sent a preliminary schedule based on my ready by timeline and was accommodating to adjust when my schedule changed the week before the wedding day. All in all, even though I was nervous about the overall wedding planning process, when it came to hair and makeup, Michelle put me at ease through the planning, and I knew I was able to be confident and relaxed when the big day is here! In terms of the actual makeup and hair styles - The amount of care and detail Michelle has for her craft really comes through. I did a trial with her before my wedding day, and we started the trial based off the inspirations I sent her. However, as we all know every girl's feature is different and the makeup style may work on one person but not the other, and, Michelle really takes this into consideration. As the trial went on, she would explain and adjust each step, making sure the style is what I'm looking for and is also fitting to me. As for my hair, she listened and knew what to do when I described what I wanted. And the best part is, my makeup stayed all the way from 1pm through 3am. That's more than 12 hours! And I even kept my hair through the next day and it still stayed. :D SO, in summary/TLDR: Michelle was super helpful through the planning process. She has glammed me up for family photos, graduation photos, weddings, and countless other special events, and she has never disappointed. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is how incredibly accommodating she is. Many of my events require me to be ready before sunrise, and she's met me at the crack of dawn more times than I can count--sometimes as early as 4:00 AM! Finding someone who is not only willing to do that but also brings such positive energy that early in the morning is priceless. Her studio is so cozy and welcoming that it honestly feels like you're hanging out with a good friend while getting pampered. The conversation always flows naturally, and the entire experience is relaxing and fun instead of rushed or stressful. I also love that she's collaborative. Nathaly primarily (only?) works out of her studio in West Covina, so she won't be able to travel to you, but that worked out fine for us as we lived close by. Her studio has just enough natural light, was kept well-air conditioned, and very clean. I appreciate that she didn't rush and stopped periodically while doing your makeup to make sure she was meeting what you were looking for. I've had makeup artists look at my reference photos and give me something completely different, so I felt very heard and respected in my wishes. My mom does not wear makeup (like ever) and English isn't her first language, but Nathaly was really friendly and still made her feel very comfortable as she was doing her makeup. She made sure my mom was able to get the coverage/look she wanted while not overdoing it and she hit it out of the park! Lastly, her prices were very reasonable and transparent! Original post: I got married last year October 2025 and I have been thinking about my experience here and I just can't keep my experience to myself anymore. I really really wanted to like this business, I liked the K drama idol glam, the pictures she posted seemed so well done, and when I met her she was sweet. I liked Asian style make up because it was natural and seamless, which is what I wanted. She did an incredible job with my makeup and it really did stay all night! I showed her an inspiration picture and she nailed it. But, what went wrong, was my hair. I should have known when I saw the demographic of her portfolio. This is to say, I am Caucasian and have thin fizzy oily hair. And well, in all honesty I don't think Emily had lot of experience with my kind of hair. I asked for a half up have down style with curls for my trial hair and makeup. She did it and my first thought was that it was messy. I recognized that maybe this was part of the style and went for a different style. In retrospect, I should have done another hair trial as soon as I changed my mind about the style I wanted but I couldn't have afforded it. Anyway, as for my curls I let her know my hair is pretty shapeless and thin, so curls need extra time to set a a light product to hold. I ended up with curls that heavy and caked with product that lasted a grand total of 30 minutes. I went to Emily and told her my experience and she just said that my hair didn't hold a curl very well so she would have to add more product and go slowly with each curl. So I took it upon myself to do 2 things, choose one of the sturdiest curl styles of "glam waves" and find my own product and test it myself to know it worked. Shout out to davines. I had even used the product myself to curl my hair and saw that it lasted a couple days when I did it myself. I was confident, I had seen the portfolio pictures where Emily had done glam waves and she confirmed she could do them. I had had picked and tested a product that I knew worked. Then I even got hair extensions so that the texture of the hair extensions could help to hold my hair exactly in place. Well, it still didn't work out. First, as I was getting my hair done, there was a strong scent of burned hair. It was so strong that my mother in law and sisters in law came in and were actually concerned something was wrong. We went on with the hair appointment and seeing as she had a picture of the glam waves I wanted, and said she could do it and did it before, I sat and waited. I waited for her to be done. When I finally got to see, it was not what I asked for. Again in retrospect this is what hair trials are for and I don't blame Emily, I do believe she did her best but just did not have enough experience with my type of hair. Emily had done generic curls that were heavy and crunchy with product, my hair was heavy and smelled. What was disappointing is that I did not get Hollywood glam waves. The curls were not even in a single direction and It did not look like she combed out the curls and set them as waves. I was extremely disappointed but I was out of time. I had to accept what was done and go off to my wedding! Now when I look at my photos I see my hair and I am upset to think that it did not turn out the way I imagined. I really wish she had been honest about not knowing how to work with my hair so I could find someone else. All in all I loved my makeup but I was unhappy with my hair.
