I booked her on March 23rd for my daughter's prom make-up and hair on April 18th. At 4:40pm the day before on April 17th she called to say her sitter was in a car accident and she wouldn't be able to take my daughter the next day unless it was at 9:45am or she could refund my deposit. If you are familiar with the industry: she got a better booking that would make her more money and waited last minute to try and force my daughter's appoint to 10 hours before her event. And she's a bad liar...you know the type: they ramble, they over explain, etc. Simply put: she does business dirty. Unless you have a wedding with a large party that will make her more money she won't be loyal to your booking. Lastly, it took over 12 hours from the time it was confirmed I would not be using her, a venmo request, and a text to get my deposit refunded while I scrambled to find a replacement. UPDATE: she sent me a screenshot of our messages but must have forgotten what she saved my name as :) Do NOT book with Jicel... She is highly unprofessional when it comes to communication. I found her on social media because she did an acquaintance's makeup. My first red flag should have been that there was no contract and everything was agreed via text. She told me a $600 deposit is required for all appointments made to secure the wedding date. Mind you, she was telling me that another bride was requesting the exact same date as her and I were texting. So I rushed and sent her the deposit so I could secure the date for my wedding. That was probably a lie the more that I think about it. We scheduled for a trial this April because we had our engagement shoot scheduled as well and I figured the trial and photoshoot could go hand in hand. When I texted her to confirm my trial appointment the day before, she asked me to send our previous correspondence because "for some reason it's not showing up" in her phone. I sent her the screenshot no problem. Then she asked me to send her my wedding info because she wasn't sure why our messages were gone and that she had been having the worst luck with her phone. I sent my info, but started to feel uneasy because I imagined what if this happens at the time of my wedding. During the trial, I found it a little odd that she would stop in between to check her phone. I didn't mind the small talk because I know it's normal to talk about little things with your hair dressers, makeup artists, etc. However, she was going on and on about some guy she matched with on a dating app and all of his red flags. Again, nothing wrong with that, but when you are constantly stopping in the middle of the session, for a good amount of time to say all of the things he is doing wrong, I find it a bit unprofessional - focus on your client. I also didn't appreciate that not only did she not ask me if she could tweeze one of my eyebrows, but TOLD me "I'm going to clean this up" and just started tweezing my eyebrow away before I could say anything. Had my eyes been open, I would have stopped her. I froze and freaked out on the inside because how do you not ask someone if that's okay for them to do? Now I'm stuck with uneven eyebrows lol. I noticed she does a lot of "just doing" versus asking what the client prefers. My lips were poorly overlined and uneven, but to her they looked "so bomb". If I looked "bomb", why feel the need to put filters on me for your Instagram. My fiancé said the picture looked nothing like me I ended up redoing some parts to feel more like "me". As I was reflecting on the experience, I came to the conclusion that we were not a good fit for each other and that I would ask for my deposit back. I sent her a respectful text, thanking her for her time and effort and said I no longer require her services for the wedding in November (seven months in advance). I was told to give 2 business days. Jicel is doing damage control and had my review removed. However, I had a real experience with her that I think is worth prospective clients to take into consideration. So here is my review that is straight to the facts of our interactions. 1. I booked Jicel on 4/30/2023 for my wedding on 4/21/2024. I paid the deposit, asked for a contract, filled it out and signed it. She didn't return it signed but I had plenty of time to deal with that. 2. September 2023, I inquired about booking my bridal trial in October 2023. After weeks of trying to secure a date, I was able to get it aligned with my engagement shoot. I had requested Autumnrosehair after she sent me two profiles of hair stylists she works with. I contacted Autumn directly to inquire about my wedding date being available and she said she was booked. So I just assumed Jicel secured Autumn for my wedding. 3. Day of trial, Jicel was late. I was being understanding even though it ate into my timeline. Her makeup bag broke and she was having a rough time with her damaged products. The hairstylist was not Autumn but Stephanie. Stephanie slayed my hair. No issues. While doing my makeup, Jicel made personal calls to her mother about lunch plans and also calling her friend to run to Marshall's to try to find replacement pallets. I also gave grace to this cause makeup is expensive. Jicel admitted after getting off the phone "sorry I know this is unprofessional, I will be more cheery on your wedding day." The makeup and hair were great - which is why I booked right? Personally, I got a rash at the end of the night but I knew I could work that out later. I had text her a few times after that wanting to know the stylists social media profile and she would not tell me. This was weird. Shouldn't I know who I am having my hair done by? I wanted to see her work and share with my bridesmaid. 4. January 2024, Jicel posts on her business IG she lost all her phone data and needs brides to reach out with their wedding date info. I immediately text her and received no reply for several days until I followed up. With her only to say "yes". 5. I reach out again regarding some basic questions of what to expect the wedding day so I can communicate this to our coordinator for the timeline. She did not respond for several days and vaguely says she doesn't give a time or schedule and will start on whoever I want to go first. I politely ask, ok what time will you be there? Also no response. 6. All of this has been brewing in my head but I didn't want to lose out on my deposits with her. However, in March before my wedding, I reached out about an updated contract and possibly booking hair and makeup for my bridal shower. I was given a reply from her number that she will be in surgery and responding the following week. I wait a week and follow up, only to receive another text that she is still in surgery and to re-send a text the following week. This was strange, especially since she was active on social media. 7. A friend of mine inquired to her number requesting her services the same weekend, day, and times of my wedding. Jicel was very responsive and somehow.. available? She sent my friend deposit instructions, even though I was a booked client for that day. This was the last straw. 8. Mid-March, I make the call to cut ties and find a new artist. I sent Jicel a text cancelling her services and she pretty much just said good luck. I didn't bother chasing for my deposit back because I mean... need I say more? read more

I can not speak to other experiences of clients but all I can say is I would be weary of choosing this service for your wedding day based on our experience. I was a part of the bridal party for our bride's day. We had 10 girls to service for the day of. A big task, yes. But this was disclosed very early on and the makeup artist kept reassuring our bride that all girls would be taken care of no problem. From the get-go our bride had many issues with communication, cancellations with the trial, and concern on if there would be enough artists to service everyone. All of this was already a red flag but our bride had already given her the deposit and didn't want to lose that. Once the makeup and hair started the day of, a few girls were already not liking how their makeup was cakey and not like their reference photos. But when anything was mentioned to her she would get offended and twist it to say how it was somehow the client's fault. Once I got in the chair she was scrambling to get people done and clearly rushed on everyone. Her overall tone was unnecessarily direct and unprofessional. For the amount she charges, the service she gave was not merited. I told her from the start that my eyes were very prone to watering, which she said was fine. Once my eyes started watering I told her I'm sorry but I literally couldn't stop. She proceeded to command me to stop blinking, to which I told her I physically could not. And that now my eyeliner was unnecessarily thick because of my error. I didn't argue since she clearly was not open to suggestion. Overall, when she finished, my lips were completely uneven, eyebrows not good and not like the reference I gave. To top it off she rushed with the bride as well and ended up giving the bride such a bad experience on her wedding day. There's too much to comment on this person's (Jicel) services. First, she was late to our bridal party wedding day of services and decided to leave the actual bride at the end--which caused her to be rushed and did NOT come through as she was promised at her bride's trial. This caused for the actual bride's make-up, to be rushed and uncomfortable, to say the least. You don't tell the bride to go last and then rush her make-up especially when she is being charged double just because she's the bride?! Yet I do understand brides have a higher fee but the bride should also be treated with dignity and with ample time. Nonetheless, Jicel decided to book another Bridal event the same day of ours which caused her to rush us all besides her coming late to our wedding make-up services. I had shown her my make-up idea yet she decided to go on with her own and offended me and the two other moms who were asking to clean up the cakey make-up, but she kept telling me that because of my age she was not giving me the color lip I requested. Furthermore, she got very upset when I asked her to even out my eyeliner and fix my waterline yet she got upset and said that the reason why my waterline was unevenly it was because it's self fixable meaning that my half waterline would self completed over some minutes later!!! All this to say, as a business owner myself. Her business mannerisms and Professionalism was beyond unethical and showed her true colors of her unprofessional business and customer service. We all have life issues and things that happens unexpectedly yet as business owners our clients MUST be our first priority...something Jicel failed to have and upheld for our bride and bridal party. I can say this because that day she engaged in a personal and confrontational phone call in front of all of us bridal party. And proceeded to vent her frustrations to the room. The stylists also claimed there was hair prep that we needed to do but we were NEVER advised of this prior to the wedding date - The hairstylists also appeared to be flustered because the make up artist had not arrived and they were unable to provide answers regarding the service they were to provide. In addition, one of the clients walked away with a burn mark on her forehead from the curling wand - Make up artist arrived relatively late as well, which continued to affect every one running behind and affecting the photographer's timeline.
