It took about 9 months to finally bite the bullet and meet up with Shazi. I don't have much experience with attorneys. However, all the reviews about Shazi are true. She is exceptional, genuine, down to earth and very caring. She tries to avoid racking up bills. She makes an attempt to keep costs low. Another endearing part which was very cathartic is her genuine honesty. Going through divorce or feeling like you have failed in life is very painful. To imagine, that you grew up in a dysfunctional family and all the pain anger and hurt you go through. Suffice to say that hearing an attorney say that unfortunately a lot of people go through this, and hearing the words "you are not alone" made me sob endlessly afterwards. That one session of consultation was so cathartic that it took away the pain of 40 years of which therapy could not resolve. It took for ever to book an appointment with her because she has a very busy schedule. So book 2 months in advance. She even changed offices so that it would be closer for us as a commute. She also responds to all her messages personally. She comes with such high recommendations. I don't think I've had such an amazing experience with an attorney as I have with Shazi. I really wanted an in person visit versus zoom because of privacy concerns and she drove all the way to meet us. What a wonderful soul! These endless 5 star reviews are true. I felt that she genuinely tries to push for mediation which is much cheaper for both parties. She made several attempts trying for mediation versus litigation. There's not much I can say besides what everyone else has said. Shazi is a very professional attorney. She provided me with all the information I needed to make an educated divorce. She handled everything amazingly well and her fees were fair. Once my ex-wife and I had made the decision to pursue mediation I interviewed a number of service providers. Most were seasoned veterans who collected a reasonable-sounding retainer up front, but who would then bill $500/hr and up for every 10-minute phone consultation and minuscule administrative task. Everything including postage, photocopying and messengers gets charged at cost with a service fee on top. The MAC model is much simpler: a fixed fee for all filings (which can add up quickly), and a set number of hours to meet and negotiate the terms of settlement. If you exceed the allotted hours they charge a very competitive hourly rate. But pricing is only one reason to go with MAC. The much greater value add was the patience, empathy and diligence with which our mediator, Shazi, handled our case. She was impartial, kind, and very helpful in explaining legal terms and process. She was also extremely helpful in moving us through the system as efficiently as possible, reminding us gently when things needed to be turned around quickly. Mediation is the smart alternative for couples with employer-based income (W-2 earners, basically) and no child custody issues. And I would highly recommend Shazi and MAC for their innovative and compassionate approach to helping people through one of life's most difficult transitions. read more

I would give MAC and Shazi more than five stars if I could. She made what could have been a horrible experience actually kind of great. My divorce was finalized (luckily) without any complications, but I'll really miss my regular interactions with Shazi. If anyone is going through a separation or divorce, they should talk to Shazi because... 1. Shazi is very compassionate and respectful of all the emotions a client is going through. She was equal parts my therapist and my divorce sherpa. 2. Shazi took the time to explain all the filings, legalese and possible actions/outcomes very clearly. Shazi is a really great person to work with. Great attitude and extremely well prepared. Parking can be a bit frustrating so I'm going to let you know what I did. The MAC Services Group building is on the corner of Bixel and 7th with parking. The building parking will run you $10/hr, so only use it if you are going in for consulting or something quick. There's also street parking on Bixel street. I parked at Joe's parking lot on Bixel and Ingraham for $10 flat the entire day. Good if you are going in for a full mediation.
