I absolutely hate this place. I've lived in it here now for almost a year and I'm not being dramatic at all when I tell you, I have not had a single week of peace. There is always something going on here. They are either turning off the water. Sending in maintenance every other day. The Wi-Fi goes out all the time that they send out people to fix that. And add to the latest bullshit today they are messing with the fire alarms at 9 IN THE MORNING. I just can't seem to ever get a good nights rest in this fucking place. The front office is absolutely useless. The Spanish guy in the front office is probably the most useless. Overall, I have hated my entire experience here. DO NOT MOVE HERE - BELIEVE THE REVIEWS I wish we had believed the reviews before moving in, but we gave the complex the benefit of the doubt, assuming the complaints were just from upset residents. Please don't make the same mistake we did--believe them. Here's what we've experienced firsthand: * Mold Issues - There is mold in our apartment, and instead of addressing it, management deflects responsibility and tries to blame the residents. Attached are pictures showing the ongoing problem. * Parking is a Nightmare - Even if you pay $50 for a reserved parking spot, you are still not guaranteed a place to park. Management has explicitly stated that paying for a reserved spot does not guarantee availability. Instead of enforcing parking rules, they suggested we could remove our reserved spots--for a $250 fee. * Unreliable Wi-Fi - The included Wi-Fi is so unreliable that we, along with multiple other residents, had to pay for outside internet service just to have a stable connection. * Horrible Communication & Service - The only way to contact the office is via text, and no one answers phone calls. When I had to take a day off work for a vendor appointment scheduled by the office, I wasn't informed until after I had already taken off that I didn't need to be there. Their corporate office's response to complaints is dismissive, and they refuse to take accountability. See the attached messages for proof. Unfortunately, we are stuck here until our lease is up, but we will not be renewing when the time comes. If I can help even one person avoid making the mistake of moving here, this review will be worth it. Save yourself the frustration--DO NOT MOVE HERE. Since the apartment company wants to come online and try to save face, I'm attaching screenshots of our correspondence for full transparency. First, regarding the maintenance issue: The original message they sent asked if I "would be available," which any reasonable person would take to mean that my presence was expected. At no point have I stated or selected any preference for being home during maintenance visits. However, as a teacher, when they asked about my availability, I immediately worked to secure a substitute and arranged for the day off to ensure the mold issue was properly addressed. As I mentioned, they took 30 minutes to respond to my direct question about whether I had to be home--by which point I had already committed to taking the day off. I kept the day off as requested, yet the vendor never even showed up that day because they went to the wrong apartment (also confirmed in the attached messages). Now, regarding the parking issue: The only reason there was another vehicle in my reserved parking spot was because the apartment complex originally placed my reserved sign in a spot that was already occupied by a broken-down car. When they finally corrected their mistake, vendors started using our reserved spaces when we came home from work. Instead of enforcing the policy and telling their vendors to stop parking in residents' paid spots, the management's response to me was to offer a "solution" where we could give up our reserved parking--which we pay for--but they would generously waive their $250 admin fee for removing it. That is not a solution. The problem is that vendors are parking where they shouldn't be, and instead of holding them accountable, management is suggesting that we give up something we pay for. I shouldn't have to get out of my car every time and ask someone to move from a spot that I pay to reserve. That's exactly why I brought it to their attention in the first place. Again, all of this is backed up in the attached messages. Instead of actually fixing these issues, management is more focused on damage control online than resolving real tenant concerns. When i first moved in. Roaches. I bombed and baited the place. Told the property manager. Her response was well if you did all that, we shouldn't do anything. Flash forward. I put my notice in to vacate. Half way through hurricane milton happened. I worked out of the Tropicana stadium. Needless to say I lost my job due to a natural disaster. I told the front office within days. I will not have the remaining 3 weeks of rent. My job is on CNN. I asked to call a wash or can I do a payment plan. The property manager assured me a payment plan exists, I wanted something to sign off on saying how long I have to pay and in what amounts. Finally after a slew of emails sent. She admitted there was no form and no payment plan exists. I made a small payment as I didn't have much money. Now trying to pay and have called twice, left a voicemail. First off if I could mark no stars I would! We should've listened to the reviews before moving in here. All the reviews are spot on Hidden fees, no communication, poor staff even today while doing trash runs prior to moving out one of their "maintenance" team about ran into our car because he was speeding threw the property on a golf cart . When we first moved in we should've seen the issues and ran but we were in a bind, the people in their own corporate office don't even communicate with one another, one explained one thing to do we did that sent in the required paperwork and then a different person in their corporate office reached out and said sorry this won't work we're denied. However we were "denied" after we paid the deposit and first month rent, sketchy, again we were in a bind so we continuously reached out via email, because there is NO SUCH THING AS SPEAKING TO A HUMAN, and almost a week later the original person reached out and said "okay your all set for move in" at this point we were confused again in a bind. So we moved in and right away things were all messed up, paint drops all over the floor and cabinets, both bathroom cabinets had old stickers and the master had what looked like dried blood on the cabinet and floor. There are multiple spots in the laminate flooring where you can feel there's nothing underneath it, you feel the floor split and sink as you stand on it. The carpet is so cheap the vacuum cleaner pulls fibers up, the stair strips are so dangerous my kids had to wear their crocs on the stairs because they got cut up so many times along with many holes in many pairs of socks. Our AC went out so so many times they had to replace the entire unit inside and out. Once they replaced the units and it wouldn't cool they had multiple stories in one in fact and I yelled at the guy and made him leave, first there was nothing wrong, then he's not allowed to do anything to it because it's under warranty, finally oh we can put freon in it to see if that's what's wrong. The water is continuously shut off not only that but it's the MOST expensive water bill I've ever had. They state that it's per apartment but when they gave me my "itemized" bill it was just water, gas, trash, I firmly believe they bill the whole complex and split it between apartments. Resident have so many hidden fees we have to pay for trash yet we can't leave it on our breezeways for ANY amount of time or we get fined 25 a bag a day however they replaced our dishwasher and left the old one in the breezeway for over a month of course I attempted to say something about how it was ironic and wrong that we get to be charged but yet the maintenance department makes messes around the complex they can leave at will. The WORST part, about a month after moving in they "redid" the breezeways, it was raining and I came home from work in tennis shoes got close to the stairs and slipped so bad my legs flew up my right leg hit the stair rail so hard there was a massive knot and already had purple bruising, when I landed my head and back bounced off the pavement, my leg hasn't ever healed right and I had a concussion, threatened to sue them and nothing happened fast forward to a week before our moving date and their placing signs all around the property which means someone did probably sue their asses and hopefully won a nice goose egg! This was seriously the worst apartment complex I've ever dealt with. If you work a 9-5 job like most of America you will not ever be able to use those pretty amenities you pay an ass ton for as they all close during business hours as well. When they offered to renew the lease it was a nightmare of a price but currently our apartment is listed almost 300 dollars less then they wanted us to renew for. I'm moving out! I have complained dozens of time to management and staff about the horrible, non-stop, all hours of the day and night, foot stomping, running noise from the two kids in the apartment above. It sounds like bowling balls dropping and rapid machine gun fire. (Building 17 apt. 207). Management won't do anything about it! Definitely think twice about renting this ground floor apartment. (Building 17 apt. 107) The ceilings and walls are paper thin and the floors in the apartment above are uncarpeted. I've banged on the ceiling when the stomping continued for several hours straight and all they do is rudely stomp back and continue to stomp. Pets are allowed. Of course they are! We pay a fortune in pet deposits and monthly pet rent. People with big dogs don't pick up after their dogs so there are blobs of poop all over the property. All management does is send annual emails telling people to pick up after their dogs and collect the pet fees. The one recycling bin for over 400 units is always overflowing, with trash all over the ground, week after week. (SEE PICTURE) That's another poor management issue! The one trash dumpster is always breaking and people don't want to touch the germy door so huge bags of trash always sit in front of the dumpster. I was in the office while a man brought up maintenance issues, and did not speak fluent English and even though you COULD understand him she undermineded his intelligence for not speaking english for 10 minutes straight while I was waiting. Complex has cameras but again the same woman in the office does not feel the need to check them even though she said I need to create a police report for them to do so. This complex is disgusting and poorly run; management is very non-caring and non-responsive. I went several days locked out of my apartment, because no one could figure out how to fix the electronic key system - but they require you use it! I went without water 3 days when I moved in - called the emergency number - no response! I had no hot water for 7 days - management stated they were backed up on work orders. I wrote several work orders, went to the office 3 times and still got no response! As there were multiple things that needed to be done with this community, the main thing that REALLY PISSED ME OFF was how they charged us an outrageous amount AFTER we moved out BECAUSE we had dogs to replace the carpet. We paid $700 in a non-refundable pet fee (which I could have bypassed because both dogs are support animals, but I didn't want to "take advantage"). But does that fee go towards anything...NO! They definitely took advantage of the fact that we had pets. After trying to dispute the charges for 3 weeks, they came back to tell me that I actually owe MORE money. IF YOU DO MOVE IN TAKE NOTE: I was told, during all phone calls and emails, that once you move in and you have carpet, you ARE ALLOWED to RIP up the carpet YOURSELF to check for stains underneath. I recommend you do that and take pictures to prove that stains were there prior to your move in. Include this with your Move In Inspection Report! Also BEWARE OF SPEEDING CARS!!! They do nothing about the speeding cars throughout the whole community. There are so many kids and people walking their dogs so PLEASE BE CAREFUL. POSITIVE FEEDBACK: Selma and Holly are GREAT!!! POTENTIAL RENTERS BEWARE!!!! Once we gave notice to terminate here, suddenly our 1 year and 9 month old maintenance requests (2 of 4) were responded to!!!!! 2 days ago 2 brand new staff fixed the long-broken laundry room door and cloroxed the mold off our living room windows! As for the other 2 requests, Management swears the filthy breezeways "are going to be cleaned day now" (yeah, right...) but the old and rotting bedroom rugs were not addressed. We expect to somehow be responsible for their removal and charged accordingly as per all other reviews. We will let you know... Yesterday a ceiling leak soaked our kitchen floor - I mopped and maintenance left a blower here pointing toward the ceiling. That was almost 12 hours ago; haven't seen or heard from the office yet. Today the back right burner of the stove stopped working. Dear Jesus, have mercy on us renters and close this skid row complex. BEWARE OF RENTING HERE! The 2 years I lived there had poor maintenance old appliances and garbage was mess always and they never cleaned the breezeways. Two shooting that I know of. Gates were never closed. My husband car got broken into. They charged us for parking and we could never find a spot close to our apartment. Way over priced. read more

Honestly, please save yourself and your family the hassle and don't move here. I moved in around Feb of 2022 and it's not Oct 1 2022, I've had nothing but issues since I moved in. They do force you to pay for cable ( this is just a small thing that bugs me), the dryer hardly works after the "fixed" it three times, its hit or miss if our ac is gonna work, then on top of that, I have had a widow that pours water when it rains. So Ian really was fun, they had known about the window for months. They have come and taken photos of it. I have an outlet in on bedroom if you touch any other outlet it turns whatever is plugged into it off. My living room window grows black mold in the wall part. The widow is in the same bedroom, if you touch the wall beside the window its squishes. So yeah as much as I was excited about an apartment with more space it was the worst mistake I made. read more

The noise will be almost unbearable unless you live on the top floor. And if you live on the top then your neighbors will hate you. Many details that I don't want to go into. Four major incidents. For the amount of rent we should be treated much better. But it's more like "you'll get what we give you. If you don't like it too bad." It's an OK place as a fall back option. The neighbors are mostly nice. Most of the staff are courteous. Maintenance will fix what they can. It's scenic. Nice weight room and pool. Larger than typical apartment size. THE WORST PLACE I'VE EVER LIVED. I've only been here 2 months and it's been an absolute nightmare that doesn't stop. Last night, I discovered there are rodent or roach droppings in my ice cube tray. I'm disgusted with the conditions here and will be breaking my lease to move out. If that's not bad enough, all the additional fees are unbelievable. There's only one rubbish area for the whole community - hundreds of units - that has already been overflown twice, and after the 1st time, we received an email saying there would be an added fee of $3.00/mo/resident for a "recycling program" (email said "see attached pdf" and there wasn't one). Nothing has changed. There's no recycling program. We're paying to clean up the mess and today, there's another overflow. Another fee - to GET YOUR MAIL!! Yes, you have to pay to get your mail. $27/year for Parcel Pending service and then, $3.00/mo additional - WTF!!!!???? I HATE THIS PLACE!!!! Management, of course, continues to avoid returning calls and emails and their corporate office has never reached out to address the myriad issues I've had since moving in. Renters BEWARE! You will sign a lease thinking you've found a place to call home with some quiet and a couple of amenities..... Guess again The gym gets cleaned only when a complaint is registered. The pool area at the back pool has only one of 2 gate available as the other will literally fall on you if opened. The walls are paper thin allowing you to listen to your neighbors, sometimes til 5am. There is a collection of old and abandoned bikes under almost every staircase and the front gate is always open making everyone vulnerable to theft. Improvements to the property literally take months as do security issues. The basketball court has been non existent for over a month and the boatyard is the same state, only partially done You are charged for absolutely everything and when it is time to renew your lease, expect to pay another 18% on a monthly basis. My lease went from $1221 per month to $1473 and we have never ever been late on anything. You pay a fee for everything.... pets....$350 per animal deposit plus $20 per month parking $10.00 per car. additional storage (boat or trailer) $50 water electric cable trash all extras and not cheap. This place is not run by good people. We lived there for several years and were great tenants, never late on bills and never caused problems. The last couple of months we were living there a lot of things started going downhill with upkeep and the office staying on top of tenants that did not clean up after themselves, police, etc. Just read the other bad reviews on here for more details on this, I agree with pretty much all of them. The last straw was when we put in our notice to leave, one of their employees, Rose, misinformed us about dates resulting in us being charged extra money. I went in and spoke with a different employee, Toni, who seemed sympathetic and said she would try to help. Toni also didn't seem surprised that Rose told us the wrong thing. This was total bullshit though because when I wrote to their billing dept (you can't talk to a real person if you call them) they barely read my email and asked Rose (not Toni who I spoke with) if she told us we could have the extra money waived ?!?! then they turned around and treated me like shit and pretty much said, learn to read your lease, pay up. I'm not talking about a lot of money here either, it was a $55 charge that they are charging on top of thousands of dollars we are already paying to get out of there early. Being that it was their mistake and we were good tenants, I feel like it should not have been a big deal to fix this. I reached out to their district manager and she never responded to me at all. The office employees are not very bright and have terrible communications skills and their managers only care about getting their money. They treat good tenants like garbage. This place has gone downhill. I wish I had never renewed my lease, but I felt stuck. The police are here nearly every day for something. Maintenance requests are slowly responded to and often need multiple follow ups to actually be fixed correctly. It took two years to get a new dishwasher despite constant mold and mildew. Well after almost 2 years we are ready to move. This place is nothing but a shiny wrapper on a crappy present. The "management" at the front office is to afraid to do anything for you until you call the corporate number and talk to someone who can actually make decisions. I had the storage lot on my lease but sold my boat. The front office expected me to pay 50 bucks a month until the end of my lease until I talked with corporate office to take it off. The only good thing was the maintenance crew but it's been a total change out as well. And now that they start putting hard wood floors in, you can hear a mouse fart in the apartment upstairs. It's a gated community yet many people drive in and use the facilities. They allow people from the Breyley to drive in and cause trouble. They do not monitor this situation. We've been residents now for just over 9 months. I can honestly say that I've enjoyed our time here, we will be renewing our lease. The office staff are friendly and welcoming, they seem more like friends than leasing agents. The property is well maintained. The maintenance crew is hands down the best. Any issues that I've had they have responded with complete urgency. I would suggest not to necessarily take a lot of the negative reviews to heart. My husband, family & I have lived her for a year and are really impressed with MacAlpine and the staff. We have a 12 year old son and 2 year old daughter - we are always outside walking the beautiful trails & at the playground, riding bike, or at the nice community pool here (they have two huge pools). I'm a registered nurse & my husband is a teacher - we come from a really nice area in Wisconsin. We were really unsure with all the negative reviews how our own review would end up - it sounded awful & we thought "well we can stick it out at least one year then purchase a home". Centralized trash dumpsters are a common thing in Florida (I lived on the east coast of Florida as well in an apartment community...same thing) - people just set the bag on their hood and drive 5mph to the trash. It's really not a big deal, if you're that upset about it, you're probably just way too high maintenance ‍. There are no bugs, no smells, no crime, everyone is really kind, and overall we've loved it here. People usually don't leave reviews unless they're mad about something - just remember that! read more

Been living here since 2011 and love the location, apartment layout and its close proximity to both Clearwater Beach and Dunedin Honeymoon Island. Dunedin has a quaint downtown with great area restaurants. The community is kept up really nice and I enjoy the walking trail around the soccer field. The people are of all ages and many are retired. What a ripoff! I lived here for 14 months with my 3 dogs. There are so many hidden fees. I paid $1050 in a pet deposit and $60 per month in pet rent. I was promised a clean apartment when I moved in and the place was filthy. The place is close to 20 years old with old, cheap appliances yet I paid a premium to live here. I was constantly calling maintenance for the same issues and it's hard to get someone on the phone. I'm OCD and my apartment was immaculate when I left, yet they pulled the carpet up during my walk through and said there was several urine spots all over the carpet. My dogs did nothing during my time there, so I'm convinced they're scamming me. They invoiced me $900 and I wrote the BBB. So far our experience has been great (though we have recently moved in). The office staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and even stayed late to show us the property. Jason, Holly, and Kathy are all very helpful. Every time we have requested maintenance (regardless of the reason), they have shown up almost immediately and taken care of everything. We are very impressed! The grounds are well kept and the amenities are wonderful. Our puppies love it here and so do we (plenty of squirrels to chase, and a shady dog park). I love going for a dip in the pool. Every neighbor I've met has been friendly. Perhaps at some point I can suggest a small community garden to add to the endless list of amenities. read more

I would not recommend this apartment complex. There are many others in the area that are far superior. The gate is always broken so you are never in a gated community. Had my car broken into. The maintenance is a joke. All of my maintenance requests I would have to write third request and then follow up with a phone call or two. You can't reach the front office it always goes to a voicemail if you are lucky and you're not caught in a loop of a recording that goes absolutely nowhere. If there is ever an emergency in the middle of the night (kids pulling fire alarm in my building) do not call the emergency number because no matter what it is they will tell you to call 911. The hidden fees are unbelievable. But my biggest advice to anyone is to bring your own black light and take pictures of your findings when you move in in the first 12 hours. They have a scam going on with many complaints of people having to replace the carpet for pet urine. I have a dog that is house trained and has never had an accident and I am now being charged for replacing the carpet. When they told me this I had to laugh because my dog has never had an accident. I read another review from another site and a woman was charged to replace her carpet for pet feces and urine and she didn't even own a pet however they did have black light "proof." I would love to see an accounting of how many people actually get to leave without buying new carpet for this complex. It's another scam. This place-such a joke. Beware of this complex. read more

What a Fantastic Place to Live. I previously lived here for 2 years from 2010-2012. I had a 2 bedroom 2 bath first floor apt. and absolutely loved it. The Maintenance team, and the office staff were very Professional and Respectful of their Tenants. In 2012, I had purchased a condo so moved out with the help of Debra being able to rent out my Apt. But, this year I sold my condo in 4 days--I am having a new house built, which wont be ready until Feb., so had to rent a place immediately. Thanks to Debra, she had 1 unit available that I rented 2 days prior to the closing of my condo. I cant express my Thanks enough to MacAlpine Place apts. for Leasing me a unit temporarily until February. The grounds up keeping is flawless!!! I would highly recommend this Apt. Yesterday, July 14, 2019 my partner and I went to MacAlpine place to apply for a lease in September. We had to wait 15 minutes until front desk receptionist Holly came back to her desk. She was finishing up with a couple that was already there and she looked at my partner and I and said "what are you guys here for if you need a tour of a room it's going to be a while because this group made an appointment" so I said we just have some questions about applying online if not applying right here and she Cut me off and said that we can apply online and I said we also have questions about applying online that's why we came in we can wait I felt as though she was trying to make us leave . After waiting about 45 minutes to actually begin servicing us we go through the questions and the options of floorplans we toured a 2/2 and then going over the details for our ESA dog was the most disappointing moment in our tour . We are from New Jersey and so the therapist who saw my partner and diagnosed him had given us a letter and diagnosis for why we have our ESA dog we presented it to the apartments that we currently live in and that was sufficient enough papers as to having our ESA pet and because he no longer goes to therapy, he has the dog. Well apparently that's not good enough for these apartments the therapist has to be licensed in Florida and so our dog is not accepted because she cleared by a licensed therapist in New Jersey. Not going into the details but going to therapy while down here in Florida would not be able to work and that's why he has a ESA dog. I really can't believe we went in there with intentions to apply for an apartment and left there thinking their apartments are completely unacceptable to apply and became unsatisfied future residents. We will not be applying to this apartment if they can't abide by ESA laws, and accept our legitimate documentation. UNBELIEVABLE. I am Truely DISGUSTED read more
