I would not recommend buying a car from MacDonald motors, The buying experience was positive last August 2021, but now when it comes to getting the car inspected in year two, they claim now for over three weeks they have no spots available. My son is leaving for college and needs the car to be inspected before he leaves, and they claim they can't make a "20 minute" spot available over the past 5 weeks - This honestly is some of the worst customer service I've seen- Especially after I bought the vehicle from their dealership and recommended three others to do so as well -- not anymore, I wouldn't buy another car from them when you can't count on them for basic service issues. I tried calling this place 4 times for service on my truck. It was a recall on the transmission sensor. From what I gather it's an easy fix under an hour. I kept getting hung up on, so I just figured they didn't want the business. I will gladly never go to this place nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

BEWARE: Do NOT go to MacDonald Motors if you drive a Mopar product, all other brands, go for it! The service department was great, scheduled me in a timely fashion, and kept in contact with me while the vehicle was there. HOWEVER, the parts department is an absolute JOKE! I knew what my vehicle needed and ordered it before scheduling my appointment. After a week with no return phone call saying the parts were in, I checked in, turns out it was never ordered! Another week goes by, WHOOPS, still didn't order it. FINALLY, two weeks later, I got someone with half a brain, turns out, THEY HAD IT IN STOCK THE WHOLE TIME! Additionally, they found that I needed new brake pads, but IMAGINE THAT, they DON'T HAVE THEM IN STOCK!!! Hopefully they'll find someone who knows what they're doing to run that department before they don't have a need for the department at all!!!! read more

I've held my tongue long enough. I've visited macDonald motors about 5 times for simple things. Inspections and oil changes and tire installs. On 3 visits they not only did a terrible job. They are risking people's safety. First, the tire install. I had 4 brand new tires and asked them to install them. I returned home and the next day I had a low tire pressure warning light so I checked the pressure. All 4 tires were low. 2 of them were 20 lbs. I figured they just didn't fill them so I did it myself. 2 days later, low tire warning. All 4 were low. After a week I took it back and they said you need new valve stems. They charged me more than the tire install to do it. Through the summer I had the same issue. I finally took it to a good mechanic just a 1/2 mile away and he fixed it right. Inspection. Mt truck with 33k miles on it failed to pass and they stated the rear shocks were unsafe. I regrettably had them replace them for $360 and drove home with a loud clunk noise. I crawled under the truck and one of the shocks was an inch from slipping off the bolt. They did not put the nut on the bolt. I returned and waited around for them to fix it and the mechanic acted like he was doing me a favor and then said you need to check with the manager on what the fee is!!! He also acted like he was doing me a favor but let me go without an additional charge. What a guy! During one inspection I had the oil changed. At this point I decided not to use them again and took it to a good mechanic (just down the road). They showed me the oil filter the Macdonald used and it was the wrong one. Way too small and it was on so tight we almost failed to get it off. I would never recommend this dealership. One mistake is a mistake. 3 is dangerous and unacceptable. Steer clear. Choose another option. I dare say that these dopes have devalued my truck and I will never return. Nor should any sane person. If you do, good luck, you will never know when something serious is wrong with your car and these mechanics caused it to happen. read more

My 26-year old daughter bought a pre-owned Jeep Patriot from this dealer because she needed a 4X4 to travel safely every day in the winter between 2 cafes she manages in southern Maine. Unfortunately she purchased it in late summer and did not discover that the 4X4 function did not work until later in the winter when the snow came. She asked the dealer to fix it but they said 4X4 was not covered by the warranty and it would cost her $600 for the repair and it would only "maybe" fix the 4X4. Wow, they sold her a 4X4 that did not function and then wouldn't make it right! She now has trouble on snowy roads and can't park on even the smallest incline if snowy -- even with good tires this vehicle spins and slips. It's not safe. She says she should have bought a Subaru. Anyway, I would not recommend this dealer if you want to be treated fairly. read more

I went here for an oil change today and i was so impressed. My oil change took 30 minutes. In the mean time, they let me sit in an office so i could work on my laptop. I will continue to get oil changes here when im visiting! read more

We were visiting the area from MA this winter and during a snow storm had a flat tire. We drove on the flat for a bit before we could safely pull over and ended up driving on the flat and rim. AAA helped us change the tire and put on the donut spare. We didn't know of a local mechanic so we pulled our Honda with out of state plates into MacDonald Motors hoping they could help us. (and a must admit thinking ... boy, I'm sure their going to tell me the tire can't be repaired and I'll need to buy 2 or 4 new tires ... ) Well ... they were GREAT! They took us right away and treated us like we've been going there for years! Even better they repaired the tire for less than $20! What an a-typical positive experience with a dealership!!!! My wife and I are hoping to retire in Bridgton someday and when we do we know where we'll buy our next car and service our vehicles. read more
