BEWARE. They claim a free initial consultation but use the whole time asking you about the case you've already told them about in your initial filing with them they should have read before the call, and then they tell you they don't know about this and they don't know about that and then send you an email to say email them if you have any questions. And when you do have another question, they then want to charge you $300ish for an hour consultation or almost $150 for a half hour. My case is unusual and not a cut and dry issue and so I thought that's why I was told I could email them with any questions. But when I emailed Scarlett and told her that I had no problem paying to speak to her, but I certainly didn't want to pay if she was going to tell me she didn't know about anything, I got no response. Absolute crickets chirping So this seems more than a bit scammy. I would have definitely been upset had I paid for the initial consultation, as it was absolutely not worth $139 or whatever the charge and certainly not $300! I had to even ask things from my own research - so instead of them saying "you can file contempt motions", I had to ask can I file a motion for contempt to which she said "you can try". And the judge is hearing the motion I filed, but that is from MY research and MY work! I'm not even certain they would have even thought of it had I not brought it up! Just be a good person and do the right thing! I thought because of her personal story of having landlord issues herself, they wouldn't act like this. Don't offer an initial free consultation if it's not going to be an initial free consultation! Just say right up front you're charging. I understand people need to make a living, however I do a LOT of work for free just to be a good member of society. And I always try to help someone as much as I can. I even asked them if they wanted to help me sue this guy and his insurance company, where I'm sure they could make a lot more money in a settlement than just simple evictions, and of course I did say I would pay her, but I need to get something worthwhile out of it. I am so sick of professionals getting paid no matter what for incompetent or no work. Lawyers here, who seem to not want to work for justice, but just want to take easy cases where they can do minimal work and get paid exorbitant amounts, and doctors are notorious for it. Doctors can treat you terribly and misdiagnose you and they still get paid. I wish I could be wrong in my job all the time and still get paid. The whole thing is outrageous. ChatGPT is coming for your jobs and clearly it is deserved. It has been FAR more helpful (not perfect right now, you still have to manage it). Oh, and FREE. I prevailed in the writ, won the eviction and now the contempt charges. So I guess...karma? Do NOT give this firm your money. I paid $1,000 for a demand letter that was supposed to take a few days and got complete radio silence -- no calls, no respone to emails, nothing. A week later I had to threaten a Bar grievance just to get a response. And what did I get? Absolutely do not recommend. They're great at wasting time and money with little desire to pay attention to details. We did make the mistake of hiring them in our situation of getting out a lease with a house being "unfit to live in" after serve foundation shifts left large holes in the wall. The attorney's did a terrible job at communicating (even with the very convenient app that is used). The was multiple times I was asked to send the same evidence to the attorney. We did not have a single conversation with any attorney over the phone after multiple attempts. The final attempt resulted in "would you like to schedule a time to discuss this over the phone". My husband was very disappointed in the overall effectiveness that the professionals had in spending money and time on our case rather than handling it appropriately and closing it adequately with legal justice. Also, we payed for an attorney to be on our case and then leave to another law firm with absolutely no clear evidence of any document being read, typed up, or simply anything being done. There was an extreme lack of value with interpersonal skills and effective communication. Our experience began positively with Michael and slowly declined when the firm switched attorney's in the middle of our case. Stephanie Rivera was very irresponsive, demonstrated a lack of concern, and failed to respond to the plaintiff attorney in a timely manner more than once. Our retainer was $6000 and we only received $2326.50 as a reminder. The only document that was submitted on our behalf was an "answer" and it was a week late. Stephanie promised to deliver documents that were never submitted. It was at that time we decided to part ways with the firm. I've attempted multiple times to try to reconcile and part ways amicably by asking for a refund. I get it, I signed a contract, but a one page "answer" doesn't cost $3,673.50. She requested for me to find out who owns the debt sent to collections and send the last statement sent email from the property owner The property owner owns the debt. I sent the last bill reflecting acknowledgement $59 was due not $1100 as if I had not indeed moved out as my written email stated a week earlier and pro-rated rent paid. I thought I was going to speak with an attorney, but a secretary called me, and couldn't tell me anything...

I hired this firm to represent me in a case where a tenant had an unapproved dog in my home that did damage to the home that exceeded their deposit. Tenants sued me to get their full deposit back. Michael Cleary represented me and even after me asking if they ever take landlord cases, he said not often but my case was SO SOLID, that he saw strength of taking it and believed in the case. MacGeorge represented me in small claims (because opposing side had an attorney), AND after n court. I was representd by Michael Cleary. I lost the entire case and had to fork over not only the deposit, but pay the tenants AND my legal fees. It would have been cheaper to just let them have their deposit back if I knew this would be my outcome after LEGAL representation. They damaged my home to the tune of $4500. MacGeorge Law Firm continued to tell me I had a strong case and continue or appeal it (which would have cost upwards of $8000 more as a bond PLUS whatever the attorney and court fes would be. I told him to STOP! I have to STOP the monetary bleed that this case, these idiot tenants and firm is charging me. Communication was sketchy at best, but only until the bill was due. Oftentimes, I would get an invoice to pay TWICE in one month. Not cool. Do NOT hire MacGeorge Law Firm. I was failed at every turn on a case that should have been won or partially won, due to proof, pictures, receipts and damage they did. The firm was more concerned about how many minutes and emails they could charge me for. I had to ask to not be charged to leave a message or just read the email that was NOT being answered. I hired this firm for a tenant dispute and could have done the work myself. I hoped sending an attorney demand letter would motivate the property manager to settle the dispute and right the situation, but they didn't flinch or even respond. I understand there is only so much the firm could have done, but I'm not sure they put in any extra effort. Overall, it didn't seem they were passionate about their work. It felt like going through a fast-food drive-thru and asking for ketchup and napkins! (lol) They repeatedly asked me for information I had already given them. I pretty much drafted a demand letter for them because I had collected a substantial amount of evidence and information; they just needed to add the legal language and their expertise. I initially spoke to a different attorney, and he was incredibly knowledgeable, which is why I decided to hire this firm. I'm disputing the problem in court alone, but now, I'm also requesting almost 3k in refunded attorney fees. Hiring the firm just added more debt, and the problem remains. read more

I hired Ms. MacGeorge to represent me in a bed bug infestation case. While everything was fine in the beginning and she sent my letter which allowed me to break my lease, she chose to not keep me informed on anything. She did not proceed in negotiations with opposing counsel as I wanted and stated in email. She then refused to respond to me for over a year. She then lost my case (her assistant confirmed this) and dropped me as a client without notifying me. I had to scramble to try and recuperate my lost funds and I subsequently lost my case on a statue of limitations clause. You cannot just take people's money and then not proceed and ignore your clients. read more

My case was dismissed in the JP court simply because: 1-she made a mistake in the petition, according to the judge 2-her team missed a deadline in serving the petition, also according to the judge. The embarrassing mistakes eventually cost me 1000's of $ ... Unfortunately, we had to appeal, and then: 1-they sent me invoices with charges that never occurred, and when I asked them about them and proved to them their mistake, their generated new invoices (literally) showing even more outrageous charges that I have never seen either. 2-because she did not add any value to the case and was actually a drag for me due to slow comms and poor judgment & advice, I had to settle with the other party only because my attorney was incompetent.
