I first came here on a Groupon voucher, but enjoyed it so much I've been back several times since. The main reason is that Ivy are great value for money, especially with their frequent offers. Every month a new email is sent out detailing the offers for that month, and it's worthwhile checking their Facebook page too. Most recently I had a 60 minute full body massage with Lana, and because she's new I got 40% off! And ohhh it was good. I absolutely love massages, and this was just as good as any other I've had before. My shoulders are still very knotty (though Lana really went at them) so I'll probably be back soon for another go. On their Tempting Tuesdays they do several popular treatments for only £20, including a 30 minute Swedish massage, so it's an affordable treat. I'm glad I found Ivy, especially given it's near my flat so absolutely perfect for popping into after work. If you live locally you should definitely give them a try too.

I was able to book a massage appointment online, half an hour neck, shoulder and back massage. I paid when checking out and after the massage was finished. The online booking system is so simple and you can book any of the treatments they offer. Besides massage, they also do nails, waxing and toes etc. I had Zoe as my masseuse. She really tried to loosen up my neck. The treatment room was very relaxing. Lots of plants everywhere, even in the waiting room, on the walls and ceilings. I listened to soothing music whilst being treated. They also offer 6 treatments for the price of 5. Will I be back? Yes definitely!

Offering threading or waxing, I opted for the latter being "old school." Recently opened by two sisters, I was impressed by their expertise and the outcome. Clean, comfy, reasonably priced & friendly, I can see me becoming a regular here and without a hard sell I'm very tempted to try their lash service for my next special evening event. I went to the wax bar straight afterwards because I wanted to cry at my nails. They gave me an appointment for the sat morning although I think they got me in after I showed them my nails. They were a joke. I felt sorry for them also as it's not nice having to put some one else's work right. They had no problems with this and just wanted to put them right for me. Sat morning and the service, the treatment was first class here in the wax bar. The girls were lovely and I think they were all pleased including me with the end result. They are now beautiful for a exciting and beautiful day on Monday. I could not be more thrilled with my nails. And this time I have shellac on my nails instead of nail Polish and a clear top coat that just came off with nail Polish. I am so so pleased I choose the wax bar and have to say they have gained a happy customer and I most certainly will go back. I also happened to pick up a price list of all the procedures they do so will definitely be taking some of these treatments up also. Needless to say I am walking on air now with my nails. The Salon is spacious, tastefully decorated and well equiped. The staff are very friendly and you are always greeted with a warm smile (and the offer of a coffee). All the staff are extrememly knowledgable and professional and only too happy to advise or answer queries. Imarni specialises in a wide range of services, these inlcude: Facial and body therapies, Ionithermie, Manicure and Pedicures, Eye treatments, Hair Removal (waxing, electrolysis etc), Tooth Whitening, Spray Tanning and Professional Make-up. They use, amongst others, Environ, Phytomer and Jane Iredale products. (Jane Iredale make-up is the best Ive come across for sensitive skin) I now go reqularly and have my legs waxed but have also had my nails done and even had a spray tan once. If your looking for a great place to be pampered at a reasonable price in Edinburgh then this is it.

So after a bit of wear, here's my verdict: Ewa still does an amazing set of lashes - it was hands down one of the most natural looking sets I've had done, which is impressive for lashes at that length. This would still be a great spot for special occasion lashes. However, for regular extensions, this is a hard pass from me. Though natural, the first set was patchy in the first week and nearly gone in the second. Keep in mind, I'm not the most delicate, which is why I opted with a three vs two star: it's very likely that someone with a little more attention to detail could make them last a bit longer. But having had sets that have gone the distance and having paid more here than any of my other Edinburgh lash trials - it wasn't worth it for a regular do.

Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. So Angel Hairdressing, I'm sharing the Yelpy love and making sure my 200th review is a good one :-)

Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!
