This is a great park with a really nice beach and swimming area. There are two playgrounds, picnic…read moreshelters, and clean restrooms. We went with some friends recently to check out the beach and I was surprised at how nice it was. The beach is not huge, but it's a good sandy area and the water is pretty shallow for quite a ways, so it's great for kids and the water was quite warm. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located for the beach. The parking area is a little small, not sure what you'd do if it was really busy. We saw people in kayaks out on the lake and fishing is allowed. There were employees riding around in a golf cart keeping an eye on things but there is no lifeguard at the beach. We don't live super close to this park but when we visit our friends we will definitely be back.

Met up with some friends and their kids at this park recently. It's huge, with a lot of playground…read morefun, basketball courts, soccer fields, softball field, a little skate park, gaga ball pit, covered picnic pavilions, and a really nice splash pad. Parking seemed a little limited for the size of the park, but we got a spot at the main entrance off Wolfboro. This park is basically in the middle of a subdivision, so you can probably find street parking if needed. There were some little kids sports practices happening while we were there. We used the pavilion to have our picnic dinner, then the kids all had a blast playing on the playground (ages 2.5-8). I was most impressed by the splash pad, with its water towers and buckets and the axolotl fountain! The kids kept referring to it as a "water park," which cracked me up. It's definitely a lot bigger than the splash pad at the park by my house. A nice spot to hang out with kids!

Highland Park is located in my neighborhood but I don't think I'm biased when I say it's one of the…read morebest parks in the city! Okay, maybe a little biased. But it's a huge (27.92 acres) oasis on the northeast side of GR. I'm always amazed at how big the park is when I visit. The lawns are kept up nicely and there is a group of neighbors who pick up trash in the park to keep it nice for visitors and residents. The park has lots of amenities, including picnic tables (recently repainted during a community beautifying project), splash pad, playground, parking lot, grills, and a beautiful garden with native pollinators. The grounds of the park are really nice to walk around and I saw lots of people walking their dogs. I would like to bring a picnic here in the summer as there's plenty of space to spread out as well as picnic tables available. The park is super kid friendly especially with the splash pad (although I would not be opposed to using it myself during the hot summer months). I am so happy to have such a wonderful park right in my own neighborhood and I encourage everyone to check it out, or at least find the park closest to you!

Since it's a public park I knew it would be open, so my boyfriend and I hopped in the car and drove over. There were a few people doing some football drills on the field and some kids playing with bubbles. There's plenty of street parking nearby. There are restroom facilities but I didn't check to see if they were open. I left my sweatshirt and water bottle on the bleachers and felt comfortable doing that since there weren't many people around. The track was nicely maintained with only two small areas that needed to be patched. This park also has a playground and a pool! I've never been to the pool but would like to check it out someday - I've always wanted to go down the water slide. Mary Waters Park ⁣ ⁣…read moreI'm not gonna lie. I've had a sweet spot for this park for a long time. It just has everything. ⁣ ⁣ Tons of shade on the play equipment, swings, a basketball court, splash pad, and a big open area to walk around, play and even just to sit on the benches and enjoy the sounds and sights of our beautiful earth. ⁣ ⁣ It's a great spot for kids (or adults, we won't judge ) to run and even kick a ball around! It would make a fantastic spot to picnic too! ⁣ ⁣ This would make for a fun couple hours out of the house next time you're in the Belknap Lookout neighborhood!

I don't really disc golf but I do like going to check out the parks and walk around while Nate and…read moreour friends play. We went to Garfield park on a sunny and breezy day recently. The park is huge! There are at least two different parking lots for the park - one is close to the first disc golf hole, and one is not. Guess which one we picked, haha. We trekked over to the first hole and started our journey. I noticed one bathroom -not sure if there were more than one but the park is so big it could maybe use a second. The Garfield Park neighborhood association office is located in the park, and there's a nice free library outside it - The Black Book Exchange Box. I loved the diversity of the titles and authors inside (I did not take any books). Parts of the park looked a little "under construction" when we were there - they are redoing the splash pad but the playground is open. The tennis courts didn't have any nets up and they were overgrown with weeds. There are shuffleboard courts but they didn't look usable. The bathroom was pretty clean and stocked with toilet paper. There are picnic tables, benches, and picnic pavilions. It was nice to see people out enjoying this neighborhood park while we were there. Parts of the park are very close to neighbors' homes, so be sure to be aware of the park boundaries. I'd say half of the disc golf course was in the shade and the rest was in full sun, so bring sunscreen and water. There are a couple of holes that are very close to the street - a few discs actually went into the street and one all the way across the road! Be careful out there. Overall it was a nice way to spend a couple hours on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The disc golf course is incredible, arguably one of the best in the city.
