The Pointer Boat, has quite a history that matches the community in which it is set: Harbor Point…read moreand Harbor Springs. The boat was originally commissioned to carry supplies, teachers, musicians and more from the main part of Harbor Springs out to the residence of Harbor point which it did until the mid 60s. The residents of Harbor Point couldn't do this themselves because it's an exclusive community. You get the gist -money and privilege. The boat ride was a little over an hour long and took us up and down the coast line with a great narration at least the parts we heard. There were 12 people on the boat which is the capacity plus the captain and first mate. Captain and first mate are great individuals but neither one of them could clearly articulate what they were trying to share on top of the wind and engine noise. At the end of the trip, we suggested they use a microphone. They said oh yeah that's a great idea we will have to consider that. Now really this boat has been in service doing this over decades and no one else has mentioned this?! I would venture to guess they are not allowed by the residents. The boat is docked behind Stafford's pier restaurant. When the restaurant is open, a drink can be purchased from their bar to enjoy while on the boat tour. Unfortunately for us, the restaurant was not open due to the lack of people to staff it. So sad! I would not say this is in any way a luxury tour. You are sitting on hardwood benches. And you need to be somewhat agile as you are stepping down four stairs that are steep from the dock to the bottom of the boat. The boat tour Is intended to provide an overview of the city and its history. I would have given it four stars if we had been able to hear the narration.

Heather, the owner of Skye house, went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed for our wedding party of 22 people. Skye House was beautifully appointed with 6 bedrooms for our guests, a huge kitchen and living room space. The bedrooms were large and airy and all three bathrooms were all recently remodeled. Every bedroom had a closet or wardrobe for our clothing. Heather anticipated our every need, from chairs and tables to making sure I had the perfect blue-purple hydrangeas to add to my wedding bouquets that were just the right shade to getting me a curling iron last minute (which I forgot) so I could curl my hair before the ceremony. There were two nice fire pits, beautiful grounds courtesy of the grounds crew, and we were just a short walk from the beach at the end of the lane. The backyard was perfect for our ceremony and disco-dance party. We had our wedding photos taken with views of the bay and also in front of a stately, mature tree in the backyard. The front yard was exquisite with a native flower and rain garden, perfect for our wedding speeches, toasts and dinner. Heather is such a gracious and kind host. What an epic weekend Heather!! I will never forget my dreamy rainbow hippie wedding in Skye Heaven!

As you begin your search for a vacation house in northern Michigan, I implore you to look…read moreelsewhere. There are many rental properties in the area run by kind, respectful, and honest business owners. Skye House is not one of those businesses. They messed up our reservation by agreeing to 2 nights, when they have a 4 night minimum. Note, at the time of our booking this was not listed anywhere on the VRBO page and was not alerted at check out. Skye House accepted the reservation and charged our card. Then, they asked us to cancel so they could make more money. I understand it's the goal of a business to maximize profits. However, a reoccurring mistake on their part does not constitute a cancellation on mine. I'm so disappointed in the way this situation was handled, the lack of courtesy and respect shown to me and my party by the owners, and the fact that we now have to cancel our event in Northport. There are nicer options in the area (on multiple levels...), take your business there.

We were looking for an adventure with our new-ish kayaks. We fortuitously read a Michigan tourism magazine tucked into the Chicago Tribune; the magazine featured a story about kayaking in Les Cheneaux with Woods & Waters. It sounded great! Though we are comfortable on the water, we thought it would be good to have a guide in an area new to us -- and Tim was a perfect guide for our half-day paddle! We learned so much about this beautiful and interesting area, saw an eagle and its nest, did a quick mid-paddle hike to get an amazing view to go with our rock skipping and gained a few kayaking skill tips that will make us better kayakers. It certainly was a bonus that the water and weather cooperated -- water like glass and just enough sun. Tim - thanks for the advice to do the Narnia hike - that was our afternoon adventure! We ended our day at Les Cheneaux Distillers. The day couldn't have been better. We loved our paddle so much and felt comfortable with our newfound knowledge from Tim that we went back for a quick paddle the next morning. We wish we could have stayed on the water all day! Thank you Sue and Tim. We will see you next time!
