Date night on a Thursday with live music was supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable. The band was great but Macs was very disappointing. There were only a couple of people there so we figured we would eat and hangout for a while. The young guy that cashed us out didn't communicate to us that a drink comes with the meal, we asked if they would bring it to us and he told us yes(not the case). 2 steak dinners for $90... fine if it's great steak. Today was my first and last time going to Mac's. They were out of mushrooms and okra at 12. Got the sampler appetizer and the fried onion breading was non existent I basically got burned onions. Turkey overall flavor was bland and dry Pulled pork had good flavor. Overall flavor was sub pair nothing really shouted out at me and all the food was on the colder side. Was a little shocked when I walked in and only saw about 3 people eating there overall vibe of the place seems pretty chill. Customer service was okay. Play ground equipment was a safety hazard. They had pieces of a slide, stairs and a climbing wall on the floor unattached to the equipment and stacked on top of each other. They had a little roller coaster thing that the kids enjoyed. This place was recommended to us by a friend. What a mistake. We ordered the bowls with brisket, turkey and chicken. They charge by the pound for their meals. So, a meal for two wasn't cheap. But we hoped it would be good. What we received, besides horrible service, was fat. Three fourths of the brisket was fat. Not fatty, fat. And we paid for that. The chicken was rubbery which was odd since we were there early and the only ones in line. The staff was very rude. The sides had a film on top as if they had been sitting a long time. We asked for fries and the manager yelled that there weren't any fries. Odd since in minutes we saw fries coming out of the kitchen. She made one of us have Fritos instead until we insisted on fries. The ice machine was empty, the soda was flat. We saw them correcting this without us asking minutes later. So, they knew. And they didn't care at all about us, their customers. No one said anything to us. Even when the burger and FRIES we ordered to go finally came out. The woman ignored us waving to her to let her know where we were and set our food on a common area counter top, with other customers reaching over our food for soups and other things. I had to get up and to get it. Won't go back. We both got very ill about a half hour after eating there. Disgusting food, horrible service. They cannot be the original owners. Must say, any BBQ place that you get to specify how much you want is my favorite. I love to try a little bit of a lot of things so places that you can order by the weight are a perfect way to try it all. You order at the beginning of the line, get your tray to order sides and then pay. Building is cute indoor/outdoor rustic style. Big parking lot across the street. Outdoor area had picnic tables and a small play ground for the kiddos. It was busy at lunch but I was still in/out fast. I also ordered 2 togo meals which were also excellent according to the coworkers. Would recommend for some great BBQ in a true Texas atmosphere. read more

I have ordered there 3 times and all 3 were wrong or the phone person didn't know the menu, etc. Very friendly when I get there and again the food is great. All meats are great and the sides are good too with different spins on things like creamed corn...they added jalapeño. I'm a BBQ snob so don't take my 4-star rating as a knock. Mac's is great, and would prob get 5-stars if I hadn't had been to Franklin's or SaltLick. The sliced brisket is tender, not overly smoke-laden with a dark, rich char on the fat cap. Somewhat fatty but better than dry, and nothing you can't trim off before you eat it. Chopped Brisket sandwich was big and good. It's pre-sauced, which I typically don't like, but Mac's is good! Pulled Pork is great. I recommend it. Potato salad was a bit different - almost a tasteless, peachy-colored mound of whipped taters - not a fan but others may appreciate it. Fresh-cut fries were killer, as well as the Green Chile Mac N Cheese. Two !! The environment at Mac's is energetic and open concept. You order in the older building to the east and find an open picnic table outdoors or in the open-door warehouse bar area where bigscreen tvs and horseshoe bar serve as entertainment. We order Mac's from the Favor app. We have done this in the past. We have had some problems with getting the correct order or all of our items. Some of the time, they have got our sides wrong or left one out. Which you don't want to send the driver back for an order of fries. We have tried to be considerate of the driver's time when clearly it was Mac's fault to leave things out. This time my grandkids cookies were left out. I am being charged for these items and not receiving them. We haven't complained to Mac's until now. The wife and I finally located Mac's! We arrived just before a Saturday close. There were six folks ahead of us but the wait was short. We ordered to go as we saw them putting up chairs. We ordered two chopped beef sandwiches with potato salad and cole slaw. Our meal was ready in short order, then we went home. At home, we were unpleasantly surprised. The chopped beef was old and dry, the buns seared black on the bottom. Old dry beef, the dregs of the day? Was this supposed to have been thrown out? This is my first time eating at Mac's Shack. Good atmosphere, clean inside. My wife and I ate during lunch and the line moves very quickly. Now to the food, we both thought the Brisket was the best of the meats, it's very moist to the point you can't pull apart with a fork. The Pork was dry on the other hand and didn't have much smoke flavor. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was perfectly smoked and had great flavor. They were sold out of the turkey and I thought the ribs weren't worth the amount of meat on them. Banana pudding was great as well and the green chili Mac was the best side I had. First of all Menu is so hard to figure out, everything is separated, not just a priced BBQ plate, with sides, at one price. The BBQ is 9 dollars a half pound, that includes chicken which is ridiculous high. Then they have a bowl filled with your choice of BBQ, and sides, and toppings, then they weigh it, including the weight of the bowl, charged for weight of bowl. The BBQ just doesn't have a good smoked flavor, it's brisket blackened charred but not a smoky flavor, chicken was dry and not much flavor. Sauce was ok like the BBQ meats. Cobbler for price,like everything was too high for a small bowl of cobbler. Eating inside in springtime is awful, no fans, hot, sweat while eating your food, can't imagine how hot it will be in 100 degree summer weather. We won't be back here, just way overpriced for what you get. read more
