However, when I got to the top area of the park (ball field and parking area of botanical garden, I didn't feel safe. Suspicious activity at the ball park parking and dodgy people at the parking area to botanical garden. I got out there quickly with my guard up and headed down into the garden and enjoy some late blooming flowers. People with dogs were polite having them on leashes and under control. The lower section of the park is really nice.

We took a cruise excursion that took us here first thing off the boat, unfortunately nothing was reversing so it was like ok a big body of water and a paper mill. We went about our tour and on the way back to the ship, I guess we had some extra time, so we went back by the falls. This time, it was reversing!! Definitely a very unique thing to see. Keep your eyes open for cute little sea animals (seals, otters, etc).

The pulp mill in the pictures has been set up to be green. It emits almost no smell and cleans the water before it goes back into the harbor. Depending on the number of tour buses, this can be one of your busiest stops. I suggest taking a video each visit so you can really see the difference between the tides.

During my wife and my celebratory post-wedding trip (what we called our mini-moon) exploring the entirety of route 1 in Maine we stopped here back last October. Easy and accessible parking with some spots to sit and enjoy the nature. The highlight for us being the Gateway Crossing Bridge that crosses the Meduxnekeag River. From what I can tell there is some nearby trails for hiking available too. We just had a quick stop here though, so will need to return for any information about that. As you may see from one of my photos this is also the only place in the US you can be on route 1 and route 2 at the same time! So, if I may borrow lingo from the younger generation, you can claim a weird flex. If you find yourself in this neck of the woods of Maine do yourself a favor and take a break, stretch your legs and cross over the bridge and take in the nature.

Winter is here!…read more This spot is a perfect place for a myth to originate from. I don't know if there are any Canadian or First Nation myths that originate with this cave. However I do know of one story told in the Slavic tradition. There is a Russian mythological being called Snegurochka or Snow Maiden. I like the version where she only can come to life in the the winter and melts in the summer. Only to be reborn in next winter snows storm. I can imagine this cave would be the perfect home for a supernatural being like Snegurochka. It took me 45 minutes to walk along the snow packed trail mostly uphill. I'm somewhat of a fast walker too. The little ravine is safe to get to, but quite slippery in some parts. I did see some young couples with small children brave the trail.

Aroostook Wildlife Refuge... I been looking at the site for…read morea while. Being military brat myself, and knowing this is a former military base converted into Wildlife refuge is fascinating. Abandoned bunkers stand here in complete silence, covered under the grassy hills, old mine shops and whole network of buildings spread out in a huge field. This is absolutely best abandoned place to snoop around and photoshoot. Moose, beavers, deer and other wildlife call this place home. It's also great place for stargazing as it gets dark here quickly. There are also few photo blinds - tiny cabins with narrow windows to sit and wait for perfect picture. Pretty cool. Autoroute seems to be still under construction, only small portion is open, but some of old roads that been partially demolished make excellent off-roading trail (do not try this, kids). Accidentally, we make a wrong turn and end up on no road at all, with no possibility to turn around. Running thru churned asphalt rocks, grass and frozen puddles is mad fun! 4x4 stayed on whole time, obviously. There are many hiking trails here, Beaver pond is nice one. This place is twisted. Unexpected. I am still trying to wrap my mind around it - the abandoned military bunkers, trails and roads - it resonates with me somehow.

Not only did I have the place pretty much to myself, but it was so well cared for. The trails are wide and well groomed, and there are informational kiosks throughout. I didn't see any critters (just some tracks and poop) but had I encountered a bear, the information I read prior to heading on the trail would have helped me out. Land trusts, wildlife refuges, and other public lands are so important to the surrounding communities and provide valuable education to the public. I highly encourage anyone to come, but if you come on a really hot day like I did, bring plenty of water!

"The Rez" is my favourite place to enjoy the day with my family…read more Offers a supervised freshwater beach, a playground, picnic tables and hiking trails. There is so much to do! There is a wide, gravel trail (wheelchair accessible just make sure someone able to push through- took grandma & loved it) going around the entire rez (3.4KM) but off this main gravel trail is 2 dozen trails (no official map, just have to look for the openings!) My favourite trail we call "beaver trail" - named because you pass a beaver dam! (have never seen a beaver but always have my camera ready...) To get to the beaver trail: Go clockwise. The opening is 3 minutes after you start on the gravel trail - its wide enough for 1 person so bring your carrier. Also, I've been temped to let my dogs off leash in these trails but one day I came across 2 poripines (they left us alone and we left them alone, no harm) but from then on will not let me doggies off leash (as the sign states lol) There are lots of beaches as well! To get to the best private beach people bring their poochies to: Go clockwise around trail. When you come to bridge take the trail to the right (along the water) There will be other small trails leading off but keep going straight and you come to a beautiful beach. Get out, enjoy and make your own family map of the trails you discover

This review is from two points of view, tourist and disability access…read more As with anything within the Fundy area, please take into effect weather and tides The cost was about $9 plus tax and it was good for one day only (other places offer two day passes) This places serves two venues, driving touring and hiking tourist. For the hiking touring, this place is probably your dream come true. The day I as here, the visibility was nill at best. I did go down to one view point where I could somewhat make out a rock formation with a tree on it. They call it a flower pot. The rest of the drive, was just that a drive due to lack of visibility. On my way back the fog lifted enough that I could make cliffs and rocky bottom... I will say that the signage in the page is poor. You come to a lookout for a beach, and to take the trail down you don't know whether to take the trail to the left or right from the lookout. Also unlike other Fundy locations, the signage in regards to the trails (difficulty etc) was poor as well. Never found the beach below. Disability access... yes there are boardwalk spots and boardwalk lookouts... but to get to them is another story! Wheelchair access from my point of view is little to none. For the walking impaired, there are stairs everywhere and some that gave a new level of difficulty. not just to me but also a service dog.... I'm not really impressed, but I did get some good pictures with the receding fog... I recommend thinking twice, if not a third time regarding this place... I look forward to what others have to say about this place. Parking was ample. Staff... saw some but there was no interaction (they were mowing) and the lady at the gate was not what I would call pleasant.

Terry, the owner, is a great guy, very personable and easy to talk to. The staff that he hires are all likable and very helpful, ready to meet your needs. The Course is a small Par 3, but can be very challenging as it does have a few large par 4 holes as well. Terry has hired a great Golf Pro who is great at teaching the game of golf, making it fun to learn and play. I personally like coming here to the Creek, it is very affordable, the course is in constantly amazing shape all season, I can play alone or join up with others. I find it a challenging course to play on the Blues as the Tee boxes are nicely spaced. Like I mentioned before its not a huge 9 hole course but it is not a small one either, I can play the course in under 2 hrs on a good day. It is a great course for young ones, Seniors and beginner golfers, and for us that want to get out and golf but don't have the time. Don't take my word for it though, go out and check it out for yourself, When it opens up again of course :) PS. I would have given it a 5th star, if it had 9 more holes :) Cheers
