But, add food, music, and rides and you've got a great weekend on hand. After settling on a black cherry flavoured sno-cone, the boy and I walked the path along the river whilst listening to the free music playing at the riverfront amphitheater. If you have kids, there are plenty of free kids activities to keep them busy and happy. We missed the parade, and there is also fireworks to close out the festival but we just made a quick day-trip down to the area to check it out. Great festival with a great view along the riverfront that I hope to make a yearly outing!

We were greeted outside by security who advised you could not take in lighters or e-cigarettes and masks were required. The building only had three aisles and was not big so this gave me a feeling of relief. Plus there was a maximum capacity of 46 which security was monitoring. First you stop at the registration table and provide a form of ID. You must sign a liability form and give it to the cashier at checkout. You also receive a buyer card that you can use the next time you shop. Everything was BOGO so we went for the $199 combo packs. My Dad picked one and I picked the other and we split the cost. My dad also purchased Snaps for the little ones. Plus we received a free firework for our purchase. The service was fast and friendly. I would recommend Phantom for all your fireworks needs!

Most of that time is waiting for them to prep your food and get it out to you at the side of the concession stand. You can not really see the game as you wait. It's perfect for getting together with friends, with multiple gathering areas and even rentable spaces. I've seen people taking engagement photos here, hosting weddings, and I even did my own graduation pictures here. It really is such a beautiful setting for special moments. One thing that always surprises me is how big it is. There are genuine hiking trails that wind through the woods, which is amazing for a park so close to the city. It's also great for birding, and I often see people playing frisbee, walking their dogs, or just enjoying a peaceful walk. The native plants and flowers are so well maintained, and there are so many little tucked away spots where you can sit with friends or a partner and enjoy a quiet, private moment. It's an absolutely beautiful park in a great area, and I can't recommend it enough.

Lots of butterflies and squirrels. We managed to see a Heron fishing and flying. That made the trip in my opinion. We walked around the lodge. Not too much to see in there. Looks like a decent enough place to stay. Staff wasn't very friendly but I guess you can't expect much out of government employees having to work a holiday.

The lodge has several rooms available. Nothing fancy, but clean and affordable. The restaurant has never disappointed me. There used to be a pretty good buffet, but not sure if that is still available. It's been too long since I've camped, so I can't speak of the campgrounds. I enjoyed an afternoon at the community pool, $8, adult admission. The pool was clean and had plenty of lifeguards on duty. The water slide looked fun. There are several lockers if you want to store anything. On the road close to the pool, there are several picnic shelters you can reserve with grills, restrooms and a playground. There is also an outdoor pavilion where concerts are held. There is lots to do at Greenbo, and it is a gorgeous Kentucky State Park.

They have a friendly and helpful staff. I have had several cakes fall apart creating dangerous…read moresituations. Their pricing is also the highest around and the selection is okay at best. I supported their local business for several years, but they have priced their way out of other competition.
