This adorable boutique should be renamed 'For Hilary,' because if I had my druthers, everything in…read morethis shop would be in my closet... Well, not the sales girl, but she was pretty sweet. As I was perusing downtown New Bedford, the window displays of For Veda caught my eye and I had to go in. I'm so glad I did! Cute dresses, tops, skirts and pants are neatly displayed in tasteful racks in a gorgeous, boudoir-ish space with deep blue walls and frilly details. I was lucky enough to snag an adorable mint green polka dot sundress before it flew out of the store - it was the last one left. The sales girl was friendly, helpful and fun to be with - she was totally encourages trying stuff on, having a ball and signing up for their loyalty-rewards program (for every $20 spent, you get a stamp, and for twenty stamps, you get a discount). So, if your in downtown NB, looking for some fun, girly items and up for a good time, hit up For Veda, for sho'.

You can definitely notice the transformation that is happening on this stretch of Purchase Street in the heart of the historic part of the city, which features a handful of cool shops and eateries. Among them, For Veda is a standout. This manageable space (a single room, with one dressing room) is filled with lovely and unique clothing and accessories. You won't be overwhelmed by volume upon entry; rather, you are able to dive deeply into the many special pieces that are there. The owner, Tessa, is sweet and welcoming. She used to work at a couple of restaurants in the neighborhood, and still shows her former employers her support. If you bring a receipt from Cork or Rose Alley Ale House, you get a 5% discount off your purchase. On my last visit, I got a very cute red, white and blue striped maxi skirt at an end-of-season discount. While the store offers a sale rack, full price items are also quite reasonably priced. Yet another reason to head to New Bedford for a day of shopping: shop owners really do have regular, working folks in mind - and the prices of some fabulous pieces truly reflect that. If you're exploring the Whaling City for the day, or en route to Cape Cod, and you're the type that gets inspired by beautiful and on-trend clothing, you should spend some time in this pretty, stylish shop.

When you read that a place has everything - you wonder, don't you? Go here and you'll see. There's…read moresuper high end giftware, and nick-nacks and brilliantly useful things like warm wool socks and warm Northeast weather coats. You'll find exceptional shoes and accessories and really nice people to help you. This store actually is as good as it gets. And go to their other (original store) the Euro Ship Store down the street and around the corner. That's where the 50% off room is. It's less fancy and more practical and equally a find in it's own right. Euro Phoenix is filled to the brim and a joy to explore. And have a bite at Pumpernickels across the street.

I managed to finish my Christmas shopping in this store. Lots of glassware, clothing, home accessories, some food, toys, shoes, kitchen items, garden items, books and some Norwegian items. Let's talk about the jewelry. Wow, do they have some nice jewelry. I did a little Christmas shopping for myself while I was there. Service was great. The woman behind the counter had a whole lot patience for my friend and I as we hemmed and hawed over which jewelry we wanted to buy. She was quick to point out different ways to wear some of the items. It's definitely worth a stop. ** Just a note that this shouldn't be confused with the Euro Store on Middle Street. That's more of a clearance store for this place and also sells supplies for fishermen.

Avoid this place at ALL costs…read more I wish I could remember the name of the representative that was assisting with our wedding party with their fitting. You would think he was planning his own wedding, as he didn't take into account ANYTHING we wanted. We went in having a vision, and knew what we wanted for our groomsmen. The only thing we weren't 100% on was how we can utilize the color scheme to have my fiancé contrast the others without looking tacky. By the time I left and come back to check on them we went from a sleek black and red look to white and black paisley!? It was atrocious, and he kept trying to sweet talk us into designs that he thought would be best, that did not fit the vibe of our wedding at all. I was politely vocal about not being into the styles, and he dismissed me, and said I am too laid back so I don't really know what I am talking about. We had women who were being fitted for suits. The (same) person measuring them made them incredibly uncomfortable, and repeatedly pointed out the fact that they had female anatomy that was making the process "difficult" for him. In the end my fiancé did not purchase a suit here for this reason. Not to mention, in the end after all the upselling and "must haves" - a pretty basic custom suit somehow was going to run us nearly $3,000 for something that would only be worn once. I would never see myself paying this at a chain retailer- especially for a suit that was almost the opposite of what we wanted. Needless to say we chose to receive a refund and take our business elsewhere for those that were fitted for suits that day.

I'd suggest calling before going just to check if anyone is there. Doors were locked at 10:10am…read more Tried calling, no answer. Considering I drove 30 minutes for the doors to be locked, I'm quite disappointed.
