I saw the signs today that this particular Macy's is closing. I am a huge fan of Macy's and it is sad to see locations closing. Macy's is such a part of our history. OMG, Macy's used to be one of my favorite stores, but I almost cringe every time I go in the store now. I keep telling myself that I should just order online to save myself the headache and frustration I experience EACH time I go inside the store. I can tell you, I always get in another workout for the day, walking around trying to find a cashier to ring me up! Such a hassle. I would say that COVID is responsible for the lack of staff, but I think this issue started before the pandemic. Also, sometimes, the shelves just seem to be pretty bare; also understandable. I know shopping online is "the thing" for many of us, but sometimes, I just like to physically go in the store and look around and lay eyes on the items I like and will purchase. My family really loves Macy's, heck, I love Macy's, so when we found a location while we were in Tallahassee, there was a palatable excitement in the air. Unfortunately, the air was deflated like the Hindenburg shortly after we entered the store. It was in complete disarray with clothes waiting to be folded dumped on the floor, no sales people to be found and clothes just haphazardly strewn on sales racks. I heard a sales associate say "I am on break, but we are having a staffing problem at the moment" to another customer. Macy's was once my favorite store. I also joked about moving to cities base on Macys department store location. Wow is it very dissatisfying and disturbing to see the Macys at Governor square Mall located in Tallahassee, FL look so disgusting. To start with it's a smaller store compared to most I've visited around the country, so you're not going to have the same options as other store. Furthermore, during the holidays I was told to carry my purchase garments in my hand because the store doesn't have bags including no receipt paper, wow. Last and most importantly this store should be condemn with the filth found on every level. I've visited Walmarts, flea markets, and your most cheapest establishments that look 10 times better than this store. It's absurd that a department store with so much class, elegance, and fame would look so deplorable. The restrooms are more dirty than a ball park, and oh please don't talk about the fitting room. I would rather take my chances purchasing and returning what doesn't fit than utilizing these nasty fitting rooms. I'm afraid of catching something from allowing my feet to touch the stained and bug infested carpet. At the end of the day this store needs to be closed and remodel or needs new management to start with. My goodness Macys inc take your name off this building and save your name from being forever tarnished. Because I can assure most fine customers are walking out of the store and bee lining to other department stores in the mall with much cleaner environment. read more

During Labor Day 2019, I went to Macy's in the Tallahasee Mall and found a Tommy Hilfiger jacket for my son that was 65% polyester and 35% wool. (Dillard's had nothing and of course Penny's didn't either). Penny's did have something close to what I needed. Dillard's was way too high. So it won't wrinkle like the cotton jackets they sell today. Macy's regular price was $299 and it was on sale during the Labor Day weekend for $99. I applied for a Macy's card and the price dropped to $79 when the bill came to the house. I was surprised Dillard's could not offer me anything beside a Hart Shaffner Marx costing a regular price of $399). You should try Macy's. read more

When I visited this store a couple of days ago I was absolutely appalled at the appearance of the dressing rooms and the overall appearance of this store at Governor's Square. In Particularly, carpet in the dressing room had nasty stains, grime and trash as though it had not been cleaned in months. It just looked unsanitary , like a breeding ground for germs. The carpet over the entire store was also littered with stains and grime!It was difficult to find any one who could assist at the registers. . Macys has always been One of my top places to shop because of it's stellar shopping experience, ambiance, it's variety of quality merchandise, as well as it customer service. However this store is lacking in all areas and doesn't represent the Macys brand that I am accustomed to experiencing. read more

The 5 different times that I have shopped Macy's since moving to Tallahassee have been frustrating to the point that I have just walked out the last two times. I stood in the middle of the sales floor after searching for a salesperson for over 5 min. and shouted "does anyone work here?". No one answered! I repeated this in the area of home goods. No reply! The two people that I finally located were talking together in the corner. I asked for the manager of the store. He thanked me for the feedback and that was that. I went back to Macy's after one month and the store was literally empty. It was dirty and dingy; the merchandise was in disarray; the person that I finally located to assist me in bras knew nothing whatsoever about them. TEND TO YOUR STORE OR CLOSE IT. OUTDATED, needs a major re-vamp. Macy's bought Burdines and changed the signs outside and the tags on the products. The tiles are chipped, the fixtures are dated and worn out. Double check your receipts, as the advertised sales don't always match the price you pay at the register. They have apple pay. Has elevators, nice bathrooms, Free wifi & escalators. The sales are good, kids clothes end up being less expensive than Target, Old Navy etc. read more

This Macy's has the potential to be so much better considering it is one of the few major department stores in Tallahassee. This store needs a makeover. It appears dull, unclean and not well polished. I love the company in general but this particular store needs some attention. The inventory seems quite smaller than that of other stores. The store is never really that crowded and I am not sure if it is due to the lack of service or the small inventory. I have ordered some items online and opted to pick them up in store. I am not sure why I keep doing this because I have to walk around and hunt down an associate just to get my order. The bathrooms are in much need of attention. I don't think they have been mopped all year and this is a shame. Macy's is known for its vibrant looks, good overhead music, friendly employees, an abundance of sale and clearance items but this location does not aid in keeping Macy's reputation in a positive light. Everytime I come here the security guard stalks me. I don't even look like I'm going to steal. Aside from that the selection at this Macy's is pretty scarce and I usually just go here to return stuff I buy through the Macy's app. There's also never any cashiers around. Once a security guard thought I wanted to steal just because I was walking around Macy's looking for a cashier or anyone to help me out. Not impressed at all. Came here to look for women's business suits and had an extremely limited stock of options to choose from. There was no help offered to help look for something, and the associate had no knowledge on whether (or where) I could get something tailored on a garment I was looking at. The lines were incredibly long to check out. The only thing that brought me joy during this shopping trip was a lady who checked me out (the second time). She offered me a coupon program to earn rewards and I found that very helpful. Otherwise, don't waste your time at this Macys. read more

While getting Christmas ideas with my fiancé today 11/23/14, we were very disappointed in the way we were treated. Ms. Vickie was working the purse department and confronted us about touching the Michael Kors decoration lock's on a purse. Vickie said "we don't like customers to touch these". Vickie continued to insinuate as if we did not deserve to be looking in the Michael Kors section. Vickie obviously knew she struck a nerve with us as she began to apologize. She stated, "I'm treating you like I treat my kids". Well ma'am we are not your children and yes we can afford Italian leather! I am a Macy's credit card holder and after the belittling abuse we received today, I will likely not make a purchase at this store again. I would love for management to get back with me about the service this branch has provided. read more
